Own Characters in PUK?

A Hero of Chaos Posts: 454 Group: Members Member #11,011 Joined: November 11, 2007	Hey guys. I got the PUK version now (don't ask where I got it ) and have Cao Shang's english patch. I have a problem now,I can't create own characters. The game doesn't accept the names I give them. So,do you know what I could do? Edit: Or,another question,if I can't give them names written in our letters,how can I give them chinese names? I don't know how to write them in the game (however,I have them installed) and when I copy them into the game,it shows only "?". Edited by Lord_Cao_Cao, Aug 18 2009, 08:25 AM.

A Hero of Chaos Posts: 454 Group: Members Member #11,011 Joined: November 11, 2007	Sorry for double posting. Yes! I got it. All you need is a Hex Editor. I use Neo. You export the character file,open it and you'll find the name of the character in the first line (for me,it where just some signs). It will be the same,as the file is called (if it's called bob.s11,then you'll find bob in the first line). Now,just edit it to the name you want. However,it's only 4 characters per name (e.g. surename has only 4 characters). The only problem you'll get is,that you can't put in father,mother or sworn siblings (you can edit friends and enemies during the game). If someone knows how to solve that problem,you can post it here.

If someone knows how to solve that problem,you can post it here. Tripple Post. I was able to solve this problem as well. Just create your character via that Random Officer thing. Then,edit the officer the way you like,you just have to keep the name (so you can click on OK). When you are finished,save it and go back to the main menu. Now minimize the game and open the file MakeData.s11 in the directory,where the folder with output characters is,with a Hex Editor (I use Neo). The values for editing the name are 5a-62. Keep in mind that you have only 4 characters for Surname and given name. In this file,you can also edit the character model. The values for that are e2-e9. So you don't have to output the officer data and lose all the relationship you have put in. Well,I hope I could help others as well with that.
