New Character #4 in Samurai Warriors 3:

I'm pleased to have a true Hojo character in the game, what with Kotaro and his confusing allegiances, and an unknown status on Kai.

Now the question is whether or not he'll only be in the "Kanto" story arc, or if Koei will pull a timewarp and put Ujiyasu in the Toyotomi siege of Odawara.

I'd say we should expect it to happen. If he's going to be be the only Hojo then he'll definitely be made to live much longer than he actually did, jsut as they did Shingen and Kenshin. I'm just curious as to how he will react to Kotaro, assuming Kotaro will keep a similar personality to what he had before.

I'd like to see him in Siege of Odawara but I have my doubts. He died in 1571 which means he would still need to live 19 extra years in order to fight in Odawara. Sure, Shingen has always appeared in Nagashino, but he died only two years before the battle. Giving a few extra years is not a problem but almost 20? We'll see...

We may not gonna see him in Hideyoshi's Odawara siege, but there's still a chance for the first Odawara battle against Kenshin. Both of them needed to be in this especially Kenshin, he needs to battle somebody other than Shingen again and again.

I like him, i wouldn't say he is "unique" but i do like the look of him.

He looks like Mad-eye moody O_o seriously, he looks just like him.

His weapon looks decent, he looks like he will have a fun and stubborn "old man" personality.

he will most likely appear in the seige of odawara on the toyotomi side, though i doubt he will have that battle himself, he cant have too many odawara battles, one is enough, maybey Kenshin's odawara battle will take place out side of odawara, like you have to defend the gate that leads inside odawara, or sometihng like that.

Definitely interested to see this character and his story potential and how KOEI decides to use him. It also helps that the sword-cane is an awesome idea for a weapon :ph43r:

I have nothing to complain about with this character. If he's the 4th of the original revealed concept art, then I'm happy to see the sword-cane instead of the sword + shield combo. Its more unique this way ^_^

Well, I'm a bit disappointed that it appears the Mori are once again going to get shafted, but I'm glad they gave the spot to a worthy character. Ujiyasu certainly looks cool, and I'm quite interested in the personality they'll give him. For some reason, I get a Sun Jian vibe looking at Ujiyasu, though I don't know why.

It really annoys me that when people see those style headbands they instantly think "omglol narootoe" when those things were REAL and were often worn by ashigaru foot soldiers and the like.

I think Ujiyasu is AWESOME! I was really excited when I saw he was a new character, and I'm not really a fan of the Hojo... but now I can say that I am! I wanna read more about the Hojo now. xD He looks like a great new character for SW3. Thank you, KOEI, for adding him!

A Hojo in this game is nice, but why this one? I've always been a fan (In DW and in SW) of the later stages in game, so taking this very early based character kinda ticks me off. I'll just have to wait and see how his moveset will turn out. Appearance looks fine, though.

That's what popular culture usually does. I didn't pay any attention to Ujiyasu's headband but when I saw it on Kotaro, Naruto immediately popped up in my mind. I couldn't stand Zhou Tai's helmet in DW5 either but it grew on me eventually. I suppose the same will happen with Kotaro's headband.

However, this kind of stuff is common with Warriors characters. Nobunaga and Yoshitsune have been associated with jedis/siths because of their glowing swords and some people compared SW2's Masamune to DMC's Dante.

One of the three main storylines is Kantou 3 Kingdoms which centers around Takeda, Uesugi and Hojo. Shingen, Kenshin and Ujiyasu all fought for the conquest of Kanto and clashed with each other many times. Imagawa clan under the leadership of Yoshimoto also played an important role. It's a perfect storyline for an early era characters like them.

Because Koei is trying to focus on Pre-okehazama battles, and this guy fits into that nicely, he was also known to be the best Hojo daiymo in the sengoku period.

Also, i like the earlier stages for both DW and SW, they're just better IMO.

What? That's terrible. ): I never thought of that kind of stuff with 'em. I have a friend who doesn't like KOEI games and makes fun of the characters all the time. I mean, my other friend, who DOES like KOEI games, and I like to joke around a little with the characters every now and then, but they are unique. x_x;

Anyway, like before, I think Ujiyasu is great. I didn't pay much attention to his headband, and never thought of Naruto until someone else mentioned it. But even then, there's hardly a resemblance. Hehe, silly people. Guess you can't really stop 'em from thinking that, though. Just like what LoW said, it's popular culture and we can't do much about it.

Edit: Blargh, I made my post really confusing, sorry... xD;

Same here I much prefer the early battles, having to play Kusegawa and Sekigahara over and over again got really tiresome in SW2. More focus on the earlier battles like in SW1 would be welcome.

Anyway Ujiyasu so far is head and shoulders above the new characters for me, I could really see him breaking into my top tier of characters: great look, interesting weapon, plenty of story potential. Can't wait to see what sort of leader he is (arrogant? caring? warlike?) and how he interacts with his retainers which I'm assuming will be mainly Kotaro and Kaihime.

I don't think he will appear at Odawara on the Toyotomi side, but I could easily see him having that battle as his final stage in his story sorta like a "what if", similar to how Shingen has Nagashino in his story.
Even though SW3 is a while off I already want Empires so I can conquer the land with the Hojo!! :D

If Ujiyasu has an Odawara, which he certainly will, I bet it'll be the one with the Uesugi and Takeda attacking him there(separately in history, but the game would have them do it together to make things more interesting for the stage.)

I'd say it'd be one of the best chances for a three-way battle.

It would be a good battle together, but it would be borign if they were seperate, why? because i wouldn't want to play the same map over and over again..... i think the maps of Toyotomi's Odawara seige and the Taked/Uesugi seige should be different, like the TaKeda/Uesugi should take place more outside than inside the castle.
