First Lieutenant Posts: 130 Group: Members Member #13,355 Joined: February 16, 2008	Apparently they did some sort of trailer for it in October 2007, which wasn't that long ago. Other than that, I have no idea if the game is even going to come to America/UK at this point.

English players on a whole generally seem to be less...nice than the Japanese. Typically not all english MMO players are like the ones found in Runescape. But I mean there's good and bad in every where, just as America has its share of whiny little kids, Japan has its fair share of hardcore elitests as I've seen through FFXI's cultural mesh. Also both sides have their majority of decent players, so I think in the end it would still be about the same percentage of good players to annoying players. But that would also mean I'd have to deal with annoying ones who actually speak the same language as me. And that doesn't sound too great.

And there is also no known intent of whether KOEI will bring the game to the english speaking community. That being said, I don't read or speak a lick of Japanese and I do just fine in the game as well as others have done. Playing for a while you eventually start to recognize certain symbols and if you have the basic UI layout memorized you understand what you are looking at as it would translate to English. I have been playing the game off and on for 2 months and know pretty much all the finer points of the game. I may not be able to communicate with other players almost all the time, but I find that most maps don't require a lot of communication in order to succeed. If you are playing a Base Takeover map, focus on powering up your character on the move and taking bases as fast as possible. Stick to bases that you know you can take fast based on your weapon (i.e. if you can power up destruction quick, take tower bases, if you can kill peons quick take the 100 man bases). If you are playing a 10PVP kill map, try to powerup defense and attack asap and then hang out with other players on your team and stalk your opponents... after all, you will have greater success killing with a partner than by yourself. You don't need to communicate to play well in this game, just a good memory and dedication to learning weapon strengths and weaknesses is all that is truly important.

Therefore it is highly unlikely that we will see an English version of this game. On another note, as it is Dynasty Warriors - which is very big in America and Europe - it gives a slight possiblity that the game might make it to us westerners. However there have been some rumours about the games slated release date at the end of 2008 - though if that were the case by now we would have seen at least some form hype on various gaming websites. Which brings me further to believe that it probably won't be this year. However there was an English Trailer for the game that was released (just youtube it). It's too confusing to say if there will be right now. But the chances are that we might eventually see it in English.

I'm one of those smucks who doesn't like importing games (which is weird, since I'm a Japanese major...) and I would much rather play an english version. DWO looks interesting, but not so much for me to import it.

Well, I will try to give the best answers I can. I'm not Koei, but here is what I know: 1.) Dynasty Warriors Online was originally Dynasty Warriors Broadband. It has been out for at least over a year. Thus, an English version is very unlikely, and as far as I know there is none in the works. Moreover, the combat system is based on Dynasty Warriors 5 (although with huge, very significant alterations), which means that in all likelihood fans in this country might find it outdated. So at this point, I don't think an English version will come out in this country. And although it's possible that sequels to this game may be released in English, I think Koei will keep their online games in Japan. I haven't seen a single one of their online games released here, and they've thrown out a lot (DWBB, ROTK Online, Nobunaga's Ambition Online, Uncharted Waters Online, etc.). 2.) The game is something that at the moment you can download for free. So because of that, although it may be a slight pain in the arse, it may very well be worth it to read Pan's guide and download the game. If you want any help, I might be able to guide you through the process if you're still interested. Though if you really hate playing Japanese games, you're going to struggle with this one. It is very hard for beginners thus far, so you may want to steer clear of it and hope Koei releases some online games over here. Sorry. If you do join, you'll want to join the Shu force. Although there aren't many, Shu has more English speaking players than any of the other forces. It's not the best force at the moment, but it is not the worst either.

I dont see any problem with them at least porting it from the PC version. But I am now beggining to think there will be no English version of the game. I have been waiting for it for a while, and still no news. There has been speculation that would would hit in November, but that is becoming more and more unlikly. I cant say that there would be alot of people playing, but there would be a good fan base, and would be even better if they combined the servers.

Some rumors say late 08-early 09 and If DW6 did well, it will come out, but who knows. The last time we heard about DW0 was the trialer last year, sooo we still dont know, hopefully we will get it.

And you would still be able to play with the Japanese anyway, if they combine servers like they have done with a lot of games. I just dont think this will ever hit the Americas or Euro, and I think I need to stop hopeing and waiting for it.
