New Character #5 in Samurai Warriors 3: Tachibana Muneshige, husband of Tachibana Ginchiyo, and it looks like he will be with the western army of his armor and wepon. |

Great adding. Cool design by the way. The sword and the shield both have Tachibana crest. Can't wait to see him battling Tadakatsu. |

Nice slick design for Muneshige. I'm interested to see his moveset and hopefully its a bit different than the other sword + shield wielders in the KOEI universe. Not that Xing Cai or Nu Wa are bad or anything, but I'd rather see something different

Muneshige... a worthy rival for Tadakatsu. I'm expecting him to be quite the powerhouse. Are there any pics with a better view of his sword? IMO he looks like something straight out of Bladestorm though. 0_o |

I may be alone in thinking this but his western appearance is definately a nod to the other KOEI title Bladestorm. Still it looks awesome and he although an unexpected new addition is a nice one given the return of Ginchiyo - a decent addition by herself but so underveloped few actually cared for her in SW2...this will be an ideal chance to develop both at once (please no more KOEI overused wife <3 husband devotion storylines... i would like SW3 to retain the strong independant Zhu Rong style persona Ginchiyo was given) |

I'm also hoping that he will have rivalry with Tadakatsu. Tadakatsu had excellent story in SWXL. Why? He had rivalry with Keiji, that's why. But in SW2, they just dropped it and Tadakatsu was basically nothing more than a loyal Tokugawa officer. The mightiest warrior in the game definitely deserves a rival. |

Muneshige looks pretty hot and awesome... If (WHEN!) this game comes out for the 360, he'll probably be the 4th character I max out.

With Tachibana Muneshige as the fourth character revealed, I too agree he does appears very promising, also having the first character in the series to wield a sword and shield.The last time I remembered, Tachibana Dōsetsu was considered "the most powerful in the west," despite fighting in 37 battles having one side of his body suffer from paralysis. Where does it apply to his son-in-law, Muneshige? Just to be curious. |

I guess that Dosetsu already passed away during the Kyushu Campaign, so Hideyoshi gave the title "strongest in the west" to Muneshige, who happened to be equally powerful. |

I do remember reading about the same thing of Muneshige somewhere else. Must have been when people were posting their character wishlists. Whatever the case is, Ginchiyo and Tadakatsu had respect for each other and there was a little rivalry between them in Sekigahara. But since Ginchiyo's main rival is Yoshihiro (and let's hope that hasn't changed in SW3), I bet that she's going to let Muneshige handle Tadakatsu. By the way, as I said in SW3 topic, the inclusion of Muneshige probably means that we'll see Siege of Otsu Castle. It was fought prior to Sekigahara and even though Western Army won the battle, the victory came too late and they didn't make it to Sekigahara. |

 I was totally expecting Ginchyo's father before her husband. He (Dosetsu) was even mentioned in her discussions with Tadakatsu. But it seems to be a pattern for koei now to link the women's storylines with their husbands.The whole sword/shield western appearance I'm of mixed feelings on, but that will have no affect on how I view his gameplay and moveset. I'm just hoping his addition just doesn't bring down Ginchyo. She had a great storyline in SW2, but so did Noh in SW1 and she go reduced to a bit character in SW2. |

I don't think Ginchiyo will be a character that just follows her husband everywhere. SW2 already showed what kind of woman she is, so I guess just making her an eye candy is untolerable. Anyway, I never thought I would ever see Muneshige in SW. Koei is indeed unpredictable, in a good way or bad way. Edited by Cerebral Assassin, Sep 17 2009, 09:02 PM.

She better not become "just another wife". I expect her to be as tough as nails like before. I even hope she's fiercer than Muneshige. He looks like the calm, calculating type, whereas Ginchiyo seems more passionate and confrontational. They should be an ideal match, as long as she doesn't lose her pride. And I'm still a tad disappointed that Muneshige's snatched up the spot I was hoping a Mori would take. But I won't hold it against him. As long as he has an interesting personality and Story Mode, I'll be happy.

Man I love Ginchiyo so much, I have high hopes for him. He looks so cute! xD but she better not become a doting wife; the thing I loved about her was her attitude. 'DON'T NEED NO MAN!' lol. But I think if Koei plays their cards right they can make this work without her becoming annoying. The CG artworks of Muneshige and Ginchiyo are already my background. I love Muneshige's design, next to Ujiyasu he is my most preferred new character. However having said that I wonder if it wouldn't of been better to name him one Otomo Sorin... Like some of you, I'm concerned that Ginchiyo might just become her husband's accessory, who hangs off his arm in every battle, hopefully this doesn't happen. If he was Otomo Sorin he could of still been friendly with Ginchiyo (Otomo and Tachibana being linked) and had rivalaries with the Shimazu too as well. The only major difference would of been the two of them not being married. But meh I'm probably reading too much into the topic, Muneshige vs Tadakatsu duel should be EPIC!! |
