This thread is for members to reconcile the inevitable fact that SW3 will remove at least two characters from previous installments! Let's run down the facts: The first article announcing SW3 in Famitsu stated "37 Playable characters"  The teaser from October 2008 had us believing there would be four new characters. Turns out there are five and Kunoichi has returned! Hur 4w350me magick attacks wur 2 gr8." - even in examples I can't bad-mouth Gracia... ) Keep in mind that any cut character could return in an expansion or eventual system port, or DLC. They could be in, but as Unique-NPCs. At worst, they'll be like the Missing Seven of DW6 and be erased from history (i.e. no Jiang Wei at Wu Zhang Plains). *probably either an imaginary meat-bun or a gloating SW3 banner to some effect if you really want something. I think Nene will be cut, I mean since there's Kunoichi, there's really no point in having 2 Dagger people.

Gracia will be cut Nene is far more important than Gracia.So what if there are two dagger people they have different movesets anyway. |

Nene and Gracia, both deadmeat. As stated, Nene/Kunoichi/Nene lulz. Gracia's relevence was so minor, and she was a fun fluff character. I expect her to be 3's Imagawa, ie returning in Expansion/Sigma Special. I doubt we'll see Goemon back, either. Katsuie is a shoe-in to return due to being the most prominent NPC in SW2 and his overall weight to the Oda, as is Motochika destined to stay afloat (because we're going to get a Mouri to fight or KoeiTecmo will all die).... |

Gracia really has the potential to be a good character storywise. If you look on some of the CG cutscenes she has in SW2XL her expression in one of them (Like the 4th one) she was confident. She had a "So what if I am?" expression. KOEI seems to be changing stories up a bit so I doubt that she will be cut. Nene on the other hand most likely will be cut because of Kunoichi coming back. And also I really doubt Goemon will come back. Just because Kunoichi and Yoshimoto did doesn't mean he will. So technically only Nene will be "cut" but more like replaced. |

Musashi and Kojiro Because they were more of 'Bonus Characters' and didn't serve any importance, and had only a small fraction to have extremely good potential, Whereas Gracia and Nene do what very good potential. also, I do not think that Goemon will return. |

and you base your conclusions on what? its obvious that Nene might be the one cut since kunoichi is back and Kaihime holds the position of hideoyoshi's concubine now. But Gracia being cut just doesnt seem right. She holds a lot of potential for a character and her story can branch out much farther than the her SW2XL story or " Mago, Mago, Mago...". It just seems stupid of Koei to cut a character that they have yet to utilize correct. the second person has got to be Goemon. But with Kuno back, I'm not so sure anymore. Well, then why not cut Okuni as well? She is also kind of bonus as well. Not that i would want her to be cut, anyways. She's as relevant in the game as Musashi[can't talk for Kojiro]. |

I'm not sure why they keep Okuni, BUT I know that they don't really need them in the story to make it a good game |

Gracia, Nene, and Nohime can all go as far as I'm concerned. Out of those three I think Gracia is without a doubt least important to any storyline, if I had to pick a single character she should get the boot. I don't want to see any of the guys go, I want Goemon back because I like to steal stuff!

As much as I'd like to see him return, I can't see them bringing back Goemon. Castle stages were really the meat of his Story Mode, and since they're a great deal different now, I don't know if Koei would revamp his story to place him in more field battles. Also, as much as I dislike saying it, I think Nene will be given the heave-ho. She might stick around as a unique NPC, but I think with Kunoichi's return and the rise of Kaihime, her spot's a bit shaky. Gracia may have been poorly incorporated last time, but at least they've had the chance to brainstorm a real Story this time. They have plenty of room to work with. But I hope I don't find Gracia is still in the game with her SW2XL personality and Story Mode. So, it's Goemon and Nene for me. |

The only reason I think this is because Kunoichi was cut in SW2 for Nene. Now in SW3 Kunoichi is back so it seems like they'd do the same thing and replace Nene. That's what I feel. |

If Katsuie gets cut, I'll be mad as hell. Nobunaga is my favorite character, and Katsuie is of one of the first guys to serve him. Yet again, people really like the pairing of Oichi and Nagamasa, and some sees Katsuie is an old fool who doesn't deserve to be with Oichi (which is untrue, since he remain loyal to Nobunaga till the end). I also don't want Musashi and Kojiro to be cut, but if one of them will get cut, I think it should be Kojiro. I really like their stories, ya know. I like the feeling when playing their stories, seeing the last days of the Sengoku era with the eyes of these two revolutionary swordsmen who didn't participate in many batles, but still able to leave their marks on the era by spending most of their lives as independent swordmasters. Seems like Ranmaru will get cut. He was so young when he died and he haven't accomplished anything except being Nobunaga's page. I don't think Goemon will return either. |

I'm all aboard the 'let no one get cut bandwagon' myself, but if I had the axe, I'd cut Musashi and Kojiro. Sure, they're bad ass to the core, but they're added bonuses, or legend characters, like Goemon was. Sure, they're fun in their own right and while they didn't offer much to the overall story (if at all), they still have a fairly large fanbase. However, they just seem tacked on for fanservice. They're well loved in their own rights and even have their own games/animes/movies or shows. So I say they had their time to shine. If two had to be cut, they'd be the best candidates. Nene could benefit from a Kaihime-Hideyoshi-Nene story line, and Gracia really has potential, just wasted in SW2XL. I hate to see potential wasted like that... Katsuie better not get cut, or I'll start punting kittens. Noh and Ranmaru... well, I wouldn't think it'd be fair to give Okuni a story and not Ranmaru. That's just... inhumane. |

I really hope no one gets cut! Everyone was unique and had fanbases. And I enjoy playing as all of them. But mostly I just hope KOEI doesn't cut Nene though .. She's one of my favorite female characters in SW2.. Well there always XL.... Edited by Cheshire, Sep 24 2009, 05:02 AM.

I voted Nene, although I could care less about Gracia as well, but at least she has potential for story with her father and all. But Nene has been made obselete by the inclusions of both Kaihime and Kunoichi. Kunoichi stole her weapons/moveset... Kaihime stole Hideyoshi's heart.... sorry Nene!! Goemon? who's that LOL, he's been gone for so long it's kinda hard to remember him. |

Nene is my favorite female character and if she is cut I will be mad. Why does everyone want Nene gone.So what if Kunoichi is back if anything Koei would change her moveset a little.Does it really matter if Hideyoshi has two concubines?Nene and Kaihime can be rivals. |

Erm, Kai is the concubine, Nene is the wife. They're really not the same thing, unless you think a wife is there just for sexual pleasure. Which... well... *shrug* Maybe they are the same after all. [/blatant sexism] Honestly, I thought it was unfair that people hated on Nene, just because Koei removed Kunoichi and put her in. Now, people are going to hate Kai and Kunoichi because Nene may get removed because of them, and it's STILL not fair. Even IF Nene gets cut (which I'm hoping she's not, because she is my favorite female), I can't be angry with Kai or Kunoichi... it's Koei's fault, not theirs. Seriously, I really hope she doesn't get cut. There's just too much opportunity for some good drama with her. |

I wouldnt mind seeing Nene make a return...just not as a ninja... Its just odd to me to make her a ninja when she never had such a background...I'd rather see her with some other type of weapon. But then again, I get tired of seeing female characters using joke weapons. Noh's was cool and I'm glad Oichi has gotten a better one (I may actually use her now), but chicks fighting with fans, batons, and toys is just plain stupid. I guess thats why Ginchiyo is my favorite, though Kai may take that spot... |

There's a difference between wishing a character cut and predicting who will be cut. Some of the people here who have said they believe Nene will be cut have not given any indication that they dislike her. I myself went the opposite way. Although, ideally, no one would be cut. Yet I'm not getting my hopes up. |

I'm going to say it will be Musashi and/or Kojiro being cut. Like someone said, they were "bonus" characters who really didn't really serve much of a purpose other than fanservice (if I can call it that). I would say that if a third character goes bye-bye, it will likely be Gracia, because most of the others listed (minus Goemon) served a purpose in the actual story. |
