Herro, ferrow warriors Let's just cut to the chase, here. This is my idea for a new combat system. First off, I'll need to lay out some other ideas. There are now three main attack buttons, as opposed to two. Normal, Charge, and Power. Normal Attacks function like they did in DW6, Charge Attacks function as they did in DW2-DW5, and Power Attacks function as they did in DW6. Each character starts out with an attack sequence of only 3 attacks. This sequence will increase by 3 attacks each time your weapon ranks up (up to rank 4). At rank 4, however, instead of 3 attacks, multiple repeated attacks are added to the end of the sequence. This is similar to DW6, except that every character has the same number of attacks. Charge Attacks function like they used to... Use it in the middle of your combo sequence to pull off a variety of different Charge Attacks. Power Attacks function the same, as well. Hold it down to perform a powerful unblockable attack, or press it continuously to perform a string of powerful attacks. Holding down L3 will allow your character to sprint, as if they were in True Speed mode. As they sprint, a meter called Stamina will slowly deplete itself. Once fully depleted, your character will stop sprinting. The Stamina meter refills over time. Jumping out of a Sprint results in a Long Jump. So without further delay, here's a complete list of moves: -------------------------------------------------------------------- Normal Attack Sequence *** RANK 1: No Attack -> Charge [unique attack to each character] Attack 1 -> Charge [upward launcher] Attack 2 -> Charge [single-hit stunner] Attack 3 -> Charge [knock-back strike] *** RANK 2: Attack 4 -> Charge [high upward launcher, follow-up knockdown attack] Attack 5 -> Charge [grapple maneuver] Attack 6 -> Charge [multi-hit rush stunner] *** RANK 3: Attack 7 -> Charge [unique attack to each character] Attack 8 -> Charge [unique attack to each character] Attack 9 -> Charge [unique attack to each character] *** RANK 4: Final Attacks -> Charge [unique attack to each character] ** Note that Power Attacks can also be used at any time during this attack sequence Other Attacks Guard -> Normal Attack [Normal Grapple, opponent mustn't be guarding] Guard -> Charge Attack [Charge Grapple, can break opponent's guard] Jump -> Normal Attack [Jump Attack] Jump -> Charge Attack [unique to each character] Jump -> Power Attack [diving tremor attack] Dash -> Normal Attack [Dash Attack, can be followed-up immediately by normal attack sequence] Dash -> Charge Attack [unique to each character] Sprint -> Normal Attack [Sprint Attack, able to continue sprinting while attacking] Sprint -> Charge Attack [unique to each character] Long Jump -> Normal Attack [diving attack] Long Jump -> Charge Attack [diving grapple attack, targeting opponents on the ground] Long Jump -> Power Attack [diving tremor attack at a downward angle] Evade -> Normal Attack [tripping attack] -------------------------------------------------------------------- What I did was basically combined the varying Charge Attacks of past DW's and the new combat system of DW6. I tweaked a few things, added a few things, and this is the product. I think it adds a bit more depth to the combat. I mean, there will always be mindless hacking and slashing in a DW game, there's no stopping that. But this adds an element of choice to gameplay, giving the player options. Whether they decide to perform an evading trip attack, or long jump out of a crowd. The possibilities are vast, in my opinion. So tell me what you think, folks
