BAck then i was not a Weist at all I was Wu then i would support Shu but never go on Wei. In Dw5 I did not think highly of Sima Yi from dw5 or Cao Pi. Sima Yi's voice was ridiculous and his moveset was ok. As for Cao i to me he was just one of those characters who were just there. But when Dw6 came out when I played Sima Yi i just loved his new evil attitude. First they brought back his dw4ish voice actor. His new laugh was incredible to. His gameplay was also amazing to. Then on i was a Sima Yi fan Then for Cao Pi when i heard a cheap version of Dynasty Warriors 6 for the ps2 came out with 6 new movesets (I wanted to see Ling Tong) I decided to buy it. So after trying Wu special i decided Cao Pi. So when i played i sensed the diffrence. Just like Sima Yi he had the calm evilness and i like that. His gameplay itself is now amazing and with the Ice elemment hes the greatest warrior ive ever played. And when i saw Cao Pi spare Sima Yi in the excecution i was amazed. So i have new found respect for Sima Yi and Cao Pi and now am almost a Weist Does anyone find a new found respect for those two? |

So you mean changing your mind on a character over a period of games? Well, I've always been a Shu fan since I bought Dynasty Warriors 2. But sure, even then and now my opinions have changed to an extent. For instance in Dynasty Warriors 6 I took more of a liking to Guan Yu & Zhang Fei, as I found their moves a bit more fun than previous. And another example is Gan Ning, I don't know what they did to him in DW6, I was quite a fan beforehand. I do not like the direction Koei have took him in. Sure the moveset was okay, but I felt it best suited someone else. So I'm hoping in DW7 for him to be more like his DW5 self - voice, appearance, moves. But without thinking too negatively of someone and more back on topic, sure my opinion changes if I see a positive move for that matter. Edit: I'm pretty sure this is what you mean, so I've adjusted the title to give more depth to this topic. Edited by LittleDragonZ, Nov 8 2009, 07:03 PM.

I never really liked Shu that much until DW6 I never maxed out Guan Yu and Zhang Fei,barely touched Zhao Yun and never bothered with Liu Bei But then in DW6 I liked them a lot more and Liu Bei's one of my favourites. Still hate Zhao Yun though |

I had a generally positive impression of Lu Meng as a respectable guy from Wu, but mostly he was Just There for me. His DW5 story mode touched on his dedication to studying to become more than just a brawler, but it did not make him stand out to me in the way that some other characters did. Bring on DW6 and his redesign. "Damn...when did Scruffles get hot?" (I do find his other incarnations attractive as well. I just hadn't been paying much attention.) Lu Meng's strong supporting role in various stories portrayed him as a wise, down to earth leader who placed a priority in relating to all sorts of people even if his frustration got in the way now and then. I looked into Lu Meng's history and found out that he was one of Wu's best. He had a good head for battle and tactics, and he went from a runaway to a self-motivated scholar in his own right. His gameverse personality is a believable interpretation of this background. Lu Meng is now my #2 favorite character, second only to the Rockman of Wei.

As to your question on Sima Yi and Cao Pi, my thoughts are this. Sima Yi: I loved him in 4. I couldn't stand him much in 5 as far as his personality and voice was going at one point but when 6 came around, I started to have respect for him again as a character considering what they done with his storyline. Cao Pi: I loved him in 5 but what they did to him in 6 kinda butchered my interest for him with his somewhat stale personality and voice plus when he got a new moveset and his own musou mode in the Special, I was jealous because he got one and not Quan or even Ce wtf. It's just fair for Cao Pi and the other characters who got their own musou modes and weapon changes in the Special. To me, him and the other Special characters (Ling, Yue, Taishi) are non-existent to me at this point except for Zhang He, he is just awesome. :] As for me, I started to take a far amount of respect to Sun Jian then ever since he was one of those characters that never really stood out for me until his newly made design in 6 came about. Not only that, I started to take much more appreciation for him back in the days of DW4, 5, and WO with him as well. I learned to look past some of his faults and just enjoy playing him for who he was, the Tiger of Jiang Dong! But yes my views on characters change as well depending on how they are brought up and presented in the game. The one character who I will never disrespect though, is my man Sun Quan. <3 |

For Sima Yi I really never cared for him or Zhuge Liang when I started in DW4. The fan moveset just didn't appease me at all and it stayed like that all the way until WO1 when I truely began to understand how truely evil he was. And I'm a big fan for villians than the generic goody-goody. So I started to play as him and fell in love with his lasers. And then DW6 came out and I nearly had an orgasm. I now love the character so much I'm actually working on a story about him! Over time, my opinions changed for all charaters and there were only a select few that I liked. Dian Wei, Zhang Liao, Lu Bu, Gan Ning...but now I've come to appreciate every single character. There's not a one that I simply don't like. |

Ma Chao. In DW4 he was along with Pang Tong and Huang Zhong one of my favorites. Tho his moveset was a bit awkward to me, I just loved giving him the Shadow Runner saddle and massacre peons with his horse shockwave. However, in DW5 i kinda lost interest in him cuz his horse charge attack wasn't so powerful anymore. I then turned to the other Liang Warrior Pang De. He had a better moveset than Chao and was almost just as good as him on a horse And then enter DW6, in which he shared a moveset with Zhao Yun. Then came DW6 Special in which he was given a zweihander (strange choice for a cavalry general) Changed my opinions: Worse: Ma Chao, Gan Ning (kinda like the feathers, but not the armor and the blonde hair. He's a pirate for crying out loud) and Yuan Shao (DW4 character was great, but he was over the top in DW5. Ruined in DW6) Better: Cao Ren (First fireballs, then lasers from his shield. He reminds me of Genma from Toshinden 4) and Zhou Tai (he looks cooler in every installment) |
| The name's Pang Tong. I do what it takes to get the job done. Nothing more DW Strikeforce/ Pang Tong duel | |

Ad for some people who talk about Gan Ning (plz voice opinios) Dont you think more like seeing Gan Ning as the arrogant punk. I mean thats how he was portrayed in the book and i like that arrogant punk And as for Kotaro... hell ya my opinnios also changed for Zhang He. back then in dw4 and 5 i saw Zhang He as a BEAST his claws and moveset were deadly and fun and his weirdness was slightly funny In dw6... now he losts his beastness hes just plain weird. and his weirdness isnt funny just weird |

I must say despite Zhang He's wierdness i quite like Zhang he in DW6 as it's not everyday you see someone in stilleto's jump in the air like superman he's by far the most lively character in my opinion and i like his crazy antics since they'd make you pull a face like this XDI'd expect KOEI to tone Zhang He's appearance down in DW7 since this one did draw the line ![]() But over each DW game i tend to like the characters more except for the large characters (Dong Zhuo & Xu Zhu) and the Nutjobs (Zhang Jiao) |

My views on certain characters have altered with passing games. Especially in the jump from DW5 to DW6. A character that I previously did not mind, and quite liked, became very annoying to me. I'm talking of course of Sun Shang Xiang. The pixie getup and the high pitched voice was horrible. She was still pretty and her moveset is great, no doubt about that, but it was a change for the worse in my opinion. The same could be said of Zhen Ji, it seemed she received the worst of the whip moveset and her personality became toned down. Perhaps this is due to her VA, who rarely sounded enthusiastic rather she sounded submissive and more meek than she had in previous games. Her clothes, instead of being both classy and revealing turned out to be something out of Victoria's Secret, it was somewhat trashy. Something I don't mind wating on TV but I don't want it to leak into the Warriors games. She seemed to receive a treatment akin to Noh in SW2. Maybe having a story would have rectified it but I'm not so sure. |

Now that you had mention her name, I had the exact same feelings for her as you did. The only reason she slipped my mind was because of that horrible change in her character. I used to love her mature, independent nature she had previously in the series but now she turns out to be a whiny, childish little brat who almost tried to kill her own brother with an arrow. >_> And the same goes for your thoughts on Zhen Ji too! :3 |

I haven't changed much my view on DW characters, my favourites are still my favourites (Zhao Yun, Ma Chao, Gan Ning, Ling Tong, Sima Yi, Lu Meng, Cao Ren, Zhang He, etc.) and the ones I'm a bit less interested in are still the same. ...Except Yue Ying. Probably she's still my favourite lady, but I certainly don't like her as much as I did before DW6. I think that female characters didn't have the best treatment in DW6. They weren't a lot even before yet almost half of them got cut, and the others got annoying or almost unimportant, received cloned movesets or not-so-good changes in my opinion. |
