Odani castle was the Azai and Asakura's last stand against the Oda clan, and ends up being their last memory as well before the conquest of Nobunaga annihilates them.

This is also the stage where I began to harbor a bit of a hatred of Hideyoshi, who I began to call "The Exploding Monkey". After setting what has to be a BOMB on a garrison wall (Which can't be done unless you defend him properly) you are able to break through the castle walls without having to accompany Katsuie through the Kingo ward or Ranmaru through what I believe is called the Minor Ward.

After a last ditch charge by Nagamasa towards the main camp, the stage ends.

What were it's strong and weak points, what could have improved it? What do you think will be the stage gimmick (if any) in SW3, and anything else regarding Odani Castle can be posted here!

I didn't like that it followed the "Your Main Camp is Suddenly Ambushed" theme that was so prevalent through many of the battles. I think it's funny that Nagamasa and his men can sneak past everyone, especially when he pulls off his ambush as soon as he's surrounded on all sides. Rushing back to the southwest and finishing him off seemed like an especially pointless delay.

The battle was okay overall; not too great, not especially terrible. Nobunaga's decision to bury the Asakura before tearing into the Azai was nice, because it was a great attempt to dishearten Nagamasa and Co., but there was nothing to this battle, for me at least.

In the future, I'd like for Katsuie to step up; play a bigger role than just the guy who plows through the Kingo Ward. Hideyoshi needs a new schtick too; the explosive ploy was cool the first couple of times, but I think it'd be more interesting if there were diplomatic missions: escort Hideyoshi to the Azai so he can trick them into lowering their guards (but I admit, I've had Taiko on the mind lately). Oh, and I'd like Oichi to stay on Nagamasa's side. It'd add another layer of emotion for Nobunaga, Katsuie, Nagamasa, and maybe even the Monkey.

Yeah! Because historically, Nagamasa released oichi and his 3 daughters upon Nobunaga's urging, in order to protect them from harm, which is never really shown in Samurai Warriors 2.

This stage is pretty cool and I hope it will be in SW3. I also agree that Katsuie should play a bigger role in this battle. The post-battle cutscene in Mitsuhide's storyline is very well done, too. I especially liked the part where Nobunaga asked him: "Mitsuhide, what do you see in Nagamasa's death?". He responds: "The pride of a warrior". Pretty cool if you ask me :shifty:
