To be honest, I can't bring myself to get excited about this game. It doesn't look like a bad game, per se, but the historian in me is extremely annoyed about the characters' stories. I've never been one to mind including female or characters or even overstating their importance in a particular battle or event, so that's not what I'm talking about. But after watching all of the Japanese cutscenes - Sakon buddying up with the enemies of Mitsunari? Motochika and Mitsuhide bromancing together? What the hell? - I just don't see this ever taking up shelf space in my game collection.
Sakon doesn't "bro up" with Mitsunari's enemies. Much of his story involves him doing his damnedest to defeat Ieyasu. If you mean Kiyomasa and Masanori, that's Sakon getting them to reconcile with Mitsunari.

And the Mitsuhide/Motochika relationship is based on their historical relationship(they met in person when Motochika came to the capital to ask for an alliance with Nobunaga, and arranged the marriage of Saito Toshimitsu's sister to Motochika as a sign of faith) and legends surrounding the reasoning behind Mitsuhide's revolt.

As someone who likely knows more about Sengoku history than most anyone else on these boards, I can assure you that SW3 doesn't take liberties that degrade the character stories, in most cases.

I am looking forward to the English release, because finally people can play the game and actually understand the context of the cutscenes and other parts of the game and better appreciate them.

I also look forward to see how Koei does the voice casting, since Agilesound is not signed on for this game and the SW characters have had two sets of voices between SW1 and the WO series. Hopefully they just start from scratch this time and do it faithfully and/or with actual creativity and the right spirit.

It's common that games come out in EU before US, but it's rare that it comes out more then 4 months ahead of time.

There have been cases of international releases of Japanese games getting additional content: Kingdom Hearts, Tatsunoko VS Capcom etc, so SW3 getting additional isn't a surprise. Though if they really plan to push through with online co-op, the lag better not be horrendous.

While I'm pretty bummed that this is still gonna be a Wii exclusive (i shouldn't be suprised anyway) I'm glad that it will be overseas since it the sales weren't exceptional in Japan but I guess the US will have to wait for now....
(in the meantime, I guess I'll have to convince my boyfriend into the Warriors series)

Eh I'm still so getting this game regardless if it lacks the historic factor... I mean its based off the history if I want to find out, more do the research myself after all its just a game... *points at Sengoku Basara* Now theres a game/TVshow thats based off history that makes no sense however I still dig it too! Not only that but man the Sengoku Era rocks to me too so its not like I'm just throwing the history out the window... lol bottom line eagerly anticipating SW3! ^^

Edit: Also if you want to play a game about the history of the Sengoku Period theres Nobunaga's ambition! ^^
There's a fine line between "playing with history" and "disregarding it completely." KOEI has always been good about that line before, but this time, they've taken a running leap and jumped right over it.

I'm not a fan of Sengoku Basara, either, and for some of the exact same reasons (that, and I will always regard it as a rip off of Samurai Warriors).

And telling me to play Nobunaga's Ambition accomplishes nothing - Nobunaga's Ambition is a strategy game, not a musou game. Is it to much to ask to want a somewhat historically accurate (even loosely) next-gen Sengoku game?

EDIT: Just read Seraphil's post, which has alleviated a lot of concerns I've had about this game. Still not sure if I'm gonna buy it, though - I haven't turned on my Wii in years.

I'd highly recommend renting it at the very least. If nothing else it is a good improvement over SW2.

I'm sure the whole Wii exclusive, is a simple payoff by the big N. Problem is that kind of stuff tends to backfire and just pissoff the other next gen console players.

Just another title I will not be buying. Of course I could be wrong and Koei might release it a year later to other systems. I'm patient. I normally do not buy games till they have been out at least 6 months or longer. They always tend to be at least 20 dollars cheaper by then. When you on a small fixed income, ever penny not spent, can really make a difference. (A used version sometimes gets me 50% off if I wait. Plus some of the good DLC by other companies really extends my game play while I wait.

I so absolutly didn't see this coming.
Neither a news about a release outside japan, nor the seemingly impossible possibility of actually getting the game before NA O.o

It's good news. Especially since I'm visiting my parents in april and can kidnapp their Wii and play it when it's released <3

I too think the London EXPO in May might be the reason as to why the EU gets it first. Thought... there IS also one in ... October? I think.

Either way, thanks a lot for sharing the information.

Totally bizarre that Europe would get it over 4 months earlier...of course, it doesn't matter to me as I won't be getting it for the Wii anyway(don't own one and don't care about motion sensor video games). =P

Heh, I could see the US release date playing out like Samurai 2's did, coming out in September. Ah well, no biggie.

If anyone here needs a reason to have a Wii, here's a decent one. Destroys Samurai 2 and anything that game did in my opinion.

If you want a history lesson, go read a book about it.. Its just a game, no need to get angry about it.. -_-

Koeis SW and DW games are not sup[posed to be 100% historically accurate. That is one thing that make this fun.

I wonder though, will we get a Japanese language option?

*crosses fingers* Please, please, please, THIS!

Or at least not make Hanbei sound like a girl, like Ranmaru -.-
I know he's voiced by a lady in japanese, but it still sounds different than Aya, who's done by the same synchronist (if I remember correctly).

Hanbei and Aya have the same Japanese Va's.

Now if I remember the DW6 VA's are doing the english language verison... They also did SW1...

Cao Cao's va as Nobunaga?
Or even Zhang He's va as Ranamaru?

I think the voices are that of Wo2. Maybe with a few differences.

I could be wrong though.

We'll just have to wait and see. Or perhaps they'll announce them on the homepage even before the release. I've only just realized... EU release is only 2 months away. They must be pretty done at this point, I suppose.

I think by the time it's being released in US, we should be expecting the first news of a possible port :3

Weird it comes in EU before... and is announced a few after Us release. Is it that Koei learnt of marketing and is going to use proper release date? Well it seems unlikely, especially in the US like someone said earlier, fall is not the best season for avoiding blockbusters...
28th may I'm going to have plenty of time during summer holidays great!!
I started to be anxious about a release overseas, and now I wil have my copy even before you, US players. Unusual yet pleasant. The news made my day!!
Concerning voices, don't expect japanese ones, we all know the DVD was almost full, they will not have space to add this (it takes a lot of space !!) As long as the VA are listenable it will be ok for me. please no more VA like WO2, go back to SW2 please!!

It is not SW2 VA's. I know that.

I bet the UK site comes on about a month before the release date... (UK)
