Heh, forget XL and leave it dead and buried. I'm a lot more curious about what happens with Samurai from here on out. Where Samurai 4 goes and how it does determines if putting 3 on Wii was a good move or not.

Xl games i think are great.. I don’t want koei to drop them... i don’t understand why you wouldn’t want them to continue.. It like a mini sequel and i don’t think sw1 and 2 would be as great as they are without xl..

Empires is awesome as well and i hope sw3 will use its features from sw2 empires and not dw6...

Who knows, koei used sw1 xl to fix the problems it had.. Maybe sw3 xl would fix the frame rate issue :XD

Don’t be hating on Xl <_<

I personally like XL, but if they did away with it I wouldn't go mad, it isn't such a necessity to me, Empires is even less of a necessity, but I would at least it's more stand alone and not reliant on the original game.

If they make it...I will buy it. If not, I'll just wait for Empires. Still, with the XLs of teh SW series historically giving New Characters every time, I am more interested in SWXLs than DWXLs

I've supported XL in the past, but with new cheaper ways to get expansion material, I think XL has seriously run its course.

Empires on the other hand? It needs to stay.

I still don't see how that's enough of an issue to prevent them from making a port in general. You're making it sound as if the expansion can't exist without Shingen's VA...

It's not like he got fired and they're replacing him. He's dead... I think the gamers are going to find it acceptable -if- they bring in another guy that sounds similar to the old Shingen... seeing as Koei can't really bring people back from the dead.

However, despite my arguments, I'm not holding my breath for an XL. To be honest, I'd rather just pay for DLC, but it's assuming Koei has plans for character stories as DLC at all. I guess there's a first for everything; who'd have predicted SW3 going on the Wii, right?

I'm not saying it will stop a port, please don't get me wrong.

As for why the expansion would be problematic, let me try a movie example - Harry Potter.

When Dumbledore's actor died, people found the replacement to be quite jarring in the following movie. Sure, they got over it eventually as he became the official new Dumbledore, but it still made the 3rd movie feel "off". But now imagine what it would have been like if it happened in the middle of the third movie and they used the original Dumbledore for the first half of the film and the new Dumbledore for the second half. What if due to the way it was filmed, the actor got switched back and forth depending on the scene. Jarring would be a polite word at that point. It just would feel wrong. As such, the proper thing to do would be to scrap all the original Dumbledore footage and rerecord with the new actor or do some clever CG work - both of which would cost extra money, but would be better received. So the question is, is Koei the type of company to spend that extra money or would they just let it go and wait for the next standalone installment? I suspect the latter.

@Wu Tugu - Omega Force is actually the development team, like Team Ninja is for Tecmo. It is part of Koei. Odds are that part of the contract between Nintendo and Koei was that Nintendo would control foreign marketing since they market the west better than Koei does.

@Fuuma - I seem to recall it slowing down more... and I KNOW other musou games (especially the Dynasty Warriors games) lag more. Perhaps I played 2-player more?

Hopefully the 30fps will also help keep the game's online features more in sync :)

P.S. @Chibi
I'm just calling it as I see it. I have no extra info on the XL matter so it's really anyone's guess. As I've said on numerous other accounts, I really hope to get proven wrong, but if people are keeping score at home on whether or not an XL will come and save all of the things they are grumbling about, I believe that this is a potential strike against the XL game being made. It's definitely not, by any means, a guarantee.

No worries, Chou Hi; at least you're sensible about all of it. I'm more than willing to accept there being no XL for DW6, considering most of it has just been additional tweaks and content, that being Legend mode and Xtreme mode. However, for the SW series, XL always appeared to be a minisequel of sorts and offered not only previously NPCs playable w/ stories, but also added in new characters as well. I'd be a little more disappointed with there being no SW3XL then DW6XL.

But, in the end, it's ultimately Koei's decision, and if DLC is cheaper to make, I'd rather go with that I suppose. I'm just kind of hoping that Koei doesn't let it lie, when it feels a little incomplete to me (not as bad as DW6, though... even after Special, it still feels as if it has a LONG way to go before I'd consider it a full game.) I'll still kind of remorse over the possibility of there not being an XL, but I'll get over it.

I'd rather a port over XL, with the additional content being DLC for the Wii. You know, to those of us who are going to get the Wii version anyways because we're not patient enough to wait for a port. XD

I don't understand why you would want them to continue. I would gladly say more but this thread is for Samurai 3. If you want me to say more ask me. I'll just say XL's are an utterly foolish idea and only 2 of them, arguably 3, have proven to be decent purchases.

Empires though is win and needs to be made more of. It also needs to be made better after Dynasty 6's Empires but that's another story. :sly:

In theory, yes, XL and Empires can be ported.

In practice, XL will not port without the original, since that makes no sense (how would you Load Original?). Empires COULD port as a standalone... but I find it unlikely that it will be ported if the original isn't.

I think they won't port it the way it is... If they port.
If so they'll have to remove murasame obviously, so they'll need to change the way to obtain Matsukaze (not that it is difficult though) They won't do an XL and include it in a port, they will just make a "special" Hopefully with some new/returning characters.
It would be easier to make it up for Shingen's VA death moreover, they would just need to re record his voice entirely
However, seeing as much Nintendo seems involved in this game, if they port, it won't be for a long time

I was looking at a Kiyomasa gameplay vid and I noted that when you defeat and officer, their troops flee.

That interesting and yet somewhat predictable. they kinda did that w/ WO2 in the sense if you defeated the major in a troop of 5, the other 4 would flee.

Maybe Koei is considering to leave SW series to Wii , and DW series to PS3/XBOX 360

No.... they're too much of greedy meat heads to do that. and i highly doubt that to be happening in the future.

There was a rumor about that some time back, but it's highly unlikely. There really wouldn't be any gains for Koei in doing that sort of move.

can someone answer this for me why is Koei so wishy washy with there games, i don't really know how to describe it but its like....waiting for a time bomb to explode when its already hit 00:00..... its hard for me to explain what exactly i have a problem with, with koei... maybe i wish they were i little more like capcom or SNK or Namco... well in all honesty those do better than them anyways...idk i'm rambling

anyways

that would be awsome to have SW series for the wii i think they should make both series for all three game systems (so everyone can get there hands on a copy) yes thats an ass load of money but a good investment in the long wrong because most people atleast have one out of the three.... i feel like im not making anysense with this post....sorry kinda spacey right now

3 words. Koei(in a sense)=Nintendo.

They aren't very open about the games they make or that are in the process of being developed. Unless it was released in Japan. otherwise, were in the dark about everything.

BTT
who'se PO'D about 7 of the 37 characters not havin a story mode?

I'm really not to be honest, even though I should be. It makes no sense to me how a couple of them don't have one (Toshiie) but it's really easy to overlook, mostly because I've come to expect this from Koei quite well. You know, one of their titles missing something it really should have but doesn't for some reason.

At least they're fun to play. They see plenty of free mode use from me.

I wish that they put more time and effort into the games simply because if they did more people would come to like their games. that's just my view but i seriously wish that everyone had their own story mode or something *Cough DW6* Cough PO'D *Cough me Cough*

At least it's not like DW6. Nuff said.

Besides, we got all the new characters that have story modes so that makes up for it nicely.

Maybe it's because the dual layered disc memory capacity couldn't fit each and every one of the story-cut characters' story in it?

..Nobody knows for sure. =P

This one time I might be willing to believe that to be the reason, no matter how much I doubt the disc is really packed as full as everyone makes it sound like. Because up until now technical limitations are one of the last reasons Koei doesn't do things it "should" be doing.
