Nice finds.

I have one as well. Apparently in japan Samurai Warriors finally reached a high enough popularity to make them bring out a CHARACTER IMAGE SONGS CD!

The 10 songs have been uploaded by this user: http://www.youtube.com/user/animemangamania
My personal favourite so far are the Hanbei & Kanbei duet and Nobunaga's song.

This is the full tracklist with character:
1. Meikyoushisui -mononofu Ga Michi- (Serene ~Way of Samurai~) [Sanada Yukimura]
2. Michi.wakatsutomo (Separated Ways) [Ishida Mitsunari & Katou Kiyomasa]
3. Tokoshie Ni Saku Hana (A Flower That Blooms Eternally) [ Oichi & Azai Nagamasa ]
4. Amakakeru Ryuu No Gotoku (Like a Dragon That Soar to The Heaven) [Date Masamune]
5. Kaze To Kumo No Okite (Law of the Wind & Clouds) [Takenaka Hanbei & Kuroda Kanbei]
6. Ichibousenri No Kaze (Boundless Wind) [Muneshige Tachibana]
7. Sou -aragai Sourou- (Follow ~Provoke the Season~) [Chosokabe Motochika]
8. Taigatoutou (River Of Conversation) [Mouri Motonari]
9. Aogite Ten Ni Hajizu (Looking Up Without Feeling Ashamed Towards The Sky) [Sanada Yukimura, Ishida Mitsunari & Naoe Kanetsugu]
10. Kiwami -karetsu Gojuu Nen- (Extremely ~Severe 50 Years~) [Oda Nobunaga]

The album is apparently named "Sengoku Musou 3 Sen Rekka Ougi"

Yeah I spotted them character songs a few days ago. My personal favorite would be Muneshige Tachibana's track.

I could be wrong since I can't do an upcheck at the moment, but if I remember correctly wasn't koku actually in some way just saying how much 'rice' it would be worth?
I can't explain this properly I'm afraid, but I think that I read once that koku was having a certain worth of rice, just like one could say you can buy two liters of milk for one EUR or something like that.

@LittleDragonZ: Me too actually, but I didn't found the time to post it here.
Englisch version? Wow. You are quite optimistic. As far as I can remember I can't even remember a single game or anime where the character songs came out in another language. At least concerning the games I played/know and that actually have those songs.

Cool, finally the english site has been opened, though it doesn't look very impressive. The background seems to be Kyushu artwork.

Koku was a form of currency back in Feudal Japan. It was backed by rice as opposed to Gold/ Silver. I was trying to research it in a book I have- apparently I have the wrong one. (Legend of the Five Rings RPG).

From what I recall, 1 Koku was the equivilent amount of rice to feed a man for 1 Year. In years were the harvest was plentiful- the overall cost of the Koku fell. In time of drought or famine, the amount increased to deal with the time.

So when it is cited X character cost X "rice" is just a mistranslation by someone who is not doing what they are paid to do.

I've listened to a few of the image songs.

And I have to say, I really don't think that its the sort of thing KOEI needs to be spending their time on.

The one with Kanbei/Hanbei is awful.... ohmygodsoawful.

Mitsunari/Kiyomasa's was... alright.

The one with Oichi and Nagamasa was rather good. But I think thats only because it's sort of like a duet with a female and male singer.

Fail on KOEI Europe's fault for naming the currency "Rice".

awww theres no magoichi one :(... It seems to be a typically select few :/.. but still pretty cool :P

Also that’s a stupid mistranslation... I don’t see why they couldn’t call it gold like the other times.. I mean rice?.. I hope that person who translated this got fired

-also if it was supposed to be rice on purpose and they had got it correct.. i cant see why they still didnt just use gold.. Do they really have to translate everything (correctly)

It's not gold. Koku is entirely different.

That's like a certain other company calling onigiri as "donuts."

It should have been left as koku, since that's a specifically Japanese term, or they could have used "bale" as in bales of rice.

Koku being more acurate. It is a unit of measure, just like li (chinese) or feet vs meters.
Even with other terms like Coup-de-tat or Quid pro quo it is better to leave it in its native form rather than translate it. I know this is not the best possible example, but it also goes into cultural memory there and correllations of such. This was simply just a really bad call to "translate" it.

Even "provisions" would be a better word to toss in than "rice". Who the hell translated this, Koei, or Nintendo? I'm betting Nintendo, since, you know, they don't care. At all.

Thats not the point..

You collect it, you spend it.. its currency.. = gold.. Lets not go completly off topic with what words mean what... Gold would just keep it simple and easy.. Who would know what a koku is anyway if they never heard of it before..

I know the whole point of translating a game is to translate everything but was this really SO important that they had to translate it and get it wrong/strange and not just lazyly throw in a simple money term. As i said before its been gold before.. why not now -_-.

Joe it is still a cultural term- and a cultural measure. You canot interchange the term dollar with pounds or euros.
There are plenty of words and expressions that gain a meaning due to a historical significance, and should stay that way. Maybe they hired google again- I remember something about Masamune that was a bit off with their translation.

Can someone point out where the word "rice" is actually shown in a screenshot? All I see is the Ina shot which says 100t. which would be tonnes, a unit of measurement. I realize that it is implying tonnes of rice, but if none of the screens are actually saying the word "rice" then what does anyone care? If you want to pretend it's tonnes of gold coins, feel free to live in whatever delusions you so choose.

Y'know, those image songs...

Why the heck is Oichi the only female singing!? Isn't that kinda backwards, lol? Would have been more interested if Ina and/or Nene had a song. I found it funny(in a good way) how Motochika's singing sounds rather Gackt-ish, though.

Look at the Ina screenshot. Upper left, over the menu list and to the left of the numerals.

I have a suspicion that maybe this is catering more toward the (fan)girls.

:3 Shows how different tastes are XD

Either way, I doubt Koei actually did something other than have the lyrics written and ask the synchronists to sing it and let it be recorded - so no time wasted that should have gone into game development.

About rice...
Well, I personally would have prefered koku OR gold. Thought koku definitly over gold.
But let's just not think about rice as rice, but as an imaginative currency. Like gil. Or fol. or whatever else there exists out there. It makes things easier to bear.

O.o I'd rather have said fanboys, since I prefer listening to Nobunaga's and Kanbei's deep, rich and sexy voices over hers...
