As for the poster on the last page about why SW3 is not out in US. Simple Answer: Sengoku Basara 3 Samurai Heroes - also scheduled for fall 2010 if no-one noticed... Wow... I just checked GAmeFAQS and apparently HMV and GAME are stocking it on-line only !EDIT: Sorry for double post... Post Double posting isn't encouraged to be used frequently; So the next time you want to modify anything to your previous post, please use the "edit" button located on the bottom of your post. Thank you. - Alice Edited by Alice, Fri May 28, 2010 2:42 pm.

Well, I'll post some of my impressions. Your allies seem even more useless than usual, I've completed stages where I was the only one left in the end. Luckily you get 6 items per stage that you can use whenever you want to and the healing items not only heal you but also your allies around you. So, if you have to protect someone with low health you can just go up to him and heal him. There is also an item which stops movement of enemy units for a time, which is very useful when some enemy reinforcements spawn somewhere behind you and start heading for the commander. Unfortunately there isn't really a story mode for your CAWs. You can play historical mode with your CAWs, but this is just a number of historical battles in chronological order where you can't even choose the side you fight for. I've only played two battles so far, so perhaps there is more to this mode later on, but I doubt it. I can't really say a lot about the english voice acting because I'm playing with japanese voices. I haven't played with many characters so far, but judging from the way Nobunaga plays I guess that most returning characters haven't changed much from SW2:XL. I also played Kiyomasa, I like his moveset, even though he isn't that strong until he gets his C5, which is awesome. His special move is pretty interesting, some kind of whirlwind attack that sucks enemies toward him and knocks them down, but it doesn't do much damage. It also takes a while to charge (you have to hold the button for roughly 2 seconds), but if you use it immediatly after combo the charge time is significantly lower. The stages themselves feel a bit hectic, because there is so much going on. You have normal missions like in SW2, but there are also optional tactical missions that either net you some items or give you some advantage in battle, so you're running around the battlefield a lot. Luckily you can equip boots which increase your running speed. This is also the first Musou game where I actually ran out of time in a stage. You only have 15 minutes to complete the Honnoji stage and I didn't realize it until it was too late. I also think the enemy generals are a bit stronger than in previous games, I'm currently only playing on normal difficulty, but I get juggled a lot and the enemy generals block a lot of attacks (they are also pretty good in following you when you try to get around them). Well, that's all I can think of for now. |

Well, the whole place is burning to the ground, so I can see why they decided on the short time limit. There's one piece of advice I want to add concerning CAWs: After you have created a character you can still change their looks, but you can't change their weapon. So before you start playing with your CAWs, make sure they really have the weapon you want them to have. |

Yeah , kinda . Is it 15 mins on both the Akechi and the Oda sides ? Is the framerate THAT noticeably slow ? And how 'bout the graphics ? Hahaha ! Sorry i'm asking so many questions ^^; |

I have only played the stage as Nobunaga so far, so I'm not sure, but I guess it will be 15min on both sides. When I first started playing I also noticed the slow framerate, it felt a bit strange at first, but I got used to it and now I don't really notice anymore. The graphics are pretty much the same as SW2, perhaps a bit better. |

That short time limit brings back memories from Ranmaru's Honnoji stage in SW1. It had 30 min. time limit but that was barely enough. Escorting Nobunaga to the escape point was painful because you were forced to kill every single peon or Nobunaga would stay and fight instead of moving forward. And since it was SW1, you couldn't just kill the leader of enemy group and let the remaining enemies flee in fear >_>. |

Wow, sounds like a challenge. Never played SW1 myself. Sounds great so far. IIRC, wasn't there DLC for the game in the form of CAW story mode stages? |

I'm not sure about the whole DLC thing, but I think the historical mode is the supposed CAW story mode because you can only use CAWs in that mode. The EU version of the game has 3 chapter with 5 stages each, all starting at a different point in time (the first starts before Okehazama, the second with Nagashino). I believe I read somewhere on this board that the japanese DLC was already included on the EU version, but I could be wrong about that. Perhaps someone who has the japanese version can clear that up. |

Gotcha. In the meantime, I'm scouring the Gamefaqs SW3 board. Nothing much so far, but the startup menu is like this: Story Mode Free Mode Dojo Network Historical Mode Murasame Castle Dojo is where the options, character edit, vault and shop are Historical Mode is the CAW story mode |

Unless there are different versions of the game by region, looking at that back cover it only shows PAL 50 support (aka no PAL 60). For people wanting to import this and run it through a homebrew region free loader on an NTSC TV it might not work. Just a warning. LoW: In SM3 there are 4 options in the vault: Characters, Movies, and I believe I remember the bottom two being something to do with connecting online so I never used them. In this version there is just the Characters and Movies. Characters lets you look at their stats and movelists so unless I missed it, I don't think SM3 had an Encyclopedia this time. Dang, good point. I seem to vaguely recall that happening a long time ago when I got an, ahem" "advanced" copy of UK WO2. Sure the game was playable despite the NTSC/PAL split but the screen came out wrong. I wonder why SW discontinued the encyclopedia anyway when all DW's have been featuring it. Maybe because they felt it's easier to find Sengoku history on the internet. Edited by Xalfrea, Fri May 28, 2010 2:48 pm.

Yeah, usually with PAL stuff I will get a Black and White with the screen "jumping up and down" constantly. Some HDTV might support NTSC and PAL resolutions I imagine, but I know mine just goes blank and says something like "input not supported" when a PAL image is sent to it. |

Ok so i played one battle.. My opinion about the game is... Sw2 still kicks its a*s but that doesnt mean sw3 is a bad game .. everything is pretty much perfect standers but the frame rate.. which isnt bad.. But its a shame it happend... Its pretty much sw1 type of fighting with lag (if that makes sense).. And yes , the english voice's are terrible... but i checked hideyoshi and he does not have his voice from wo2.. .. But its not as good as his sw2 voice either... its a toned down version of his sw1..so the game is awesome, if you can get over those points.. But you guys pretty much knew that anyway

Not bad, but not good either? Expected, but still good. Which controller are you playing with it by the way? Regarding this issue of framerate, just how bad is it anyway? It's something I still don't get myself. Is it as bad like, WO2 Battle of Chi Bi or something? But we all know that, besides that one review posted earlier, it's inevitable others and non-fans will basically have "It sucks!" But given how some people seem to have a weird obsession with Japanese VA, they may tolerate it a bit more. Edited by Xalfrea, Fri May 28, 2010 2:55 pm.

That's a relief. I still enjoy hearing his WO VA's grunting, speaking of which. Hopefully the voice acting is decent as SW1, since Agile Sound's not voicing the characters of course. |
