I also think there is no encyclopedia, but there is a timeline in historical mode with the most important events. This timeline is empty at first, but as you play more battles the entries get "unlocked".

That mode was DLC in the Japanese version. So it could explain why I don't remember seeing an Encyclopedia in SM3, seeing as how I didn't get any DLC.

just looked at the news... damn it!
ok, this is pissin me off... its bad enough japan gets all the fun and glory when it comes to all these new games... but why in god's name... is EUROPE of all places getting so much attention?!
why the hell is europe getting tons of special gatherings, early access, and so much other crap, while america is left behind in the dust?
this country sucks enough, and now i cant even rely on games to bring me any hope because we're the last thought on anyone else's minds...
japan and europe get huge celebrations and parades, special items and collectibles when these games come out, and when its FINALLY time for america to get one... ppbbt! they just toss the game to us after its been exhausted and no one cares about it anymore...
...meh, anyway... so europe gets this damned game TODAY, huh?
when does it come to america? august 28th 2011?
oh, i know... america isnt even getting the game, is it? I have nothing against Europe, infact I wish I lived there instead of the US. For the most part any game developed in Japan will be released there first then either NA or the PAL release next. So this shouldn't be a huge shocker.
Europe get all these special fan gatherings because let's face it the US is way too large to have any KOEI fan gatherings, simply due to the size of the country and because there aren't as many US fans compared to EU fans as you'd think, plus it would be impossible to have a fan convention in every state, plus depending on the location, there's still a large chance a lot of people wouldn't be able to travel that far. The UK is a way smaller country and hence why they can have conventions like that because pretty much everyone can get their either by car or train or whatever, but let's face it the expos are only in London, not in like every European country. I do wish we'd have some kind of expo here but it will never happen I don't think, I'd really like to get some of those cute mini figures without having to pay almost 50$ for one on ebay.
KOEI games pretty much have a cult like following here in the US I believe. For the most part american gamers have moved on to games like Call of Duty and Grand theft auto and sports games, but then again that doesn't mean their still aren't fans here of KOEI games. I've supported KOEI sense Dynasty Warriors 2 as crappy as that game was and I can tell you from experience that some of the games were hard to find when they were released.
As for when the US gets it, honestly I agree that there's a chance the US might not even get it. We didn't get Warriors Orochi Z, and based on the bad sales in Japan and the potential for bad sales in EU (and the fact that a couple members on here even said they can't find it no where), we probably won't get it because there just aren't enough consumers here. I do agree too that by the time it does come out no one will care about it anymore. The hype and discussion for the Japanese release pretty much died down on here like a month or two after it was released. I'm not sure how long people will be interested in it from EU and NA, especially when there's like no information for this game or any official specific date for the US release.
Anywho to our friends from Europe that have the game I have 3 questions: 1. Has anyone unlocked Masamune Date? How's his english voiceactor? Is it like SW2 Masamune or the really crappy non excited no emotion or emphasis Warriors Orochi Masamune? Or does he have a completely new sounding voice?
2. Can someone post some gameplay videos on youtube? I'd love to see the game in action and see how some of the voice actors are.
3. How's the draw distance? Is it really low and foggy like DW3/DW4? Or is it like SW2? Or is it better or some how worse O_O?

Real shame about Mago's voice, he was probably my second favorite character and now they're ruining him.
And I mean like the distance of how far you can see around the map. Are their a lot of soldiers on the map at once?

Why is this game so hard to get your hands on? I went in like 4 shops today and not one had it. GAME reckons that they might have it in tomorrow since the shipments could have only arrived today.

Im playing it and i have very godd first impressions on it, i tried 2 stages of Murasame castle and i want to know if Takamaru will be unlockable in the game, that would be awesome. On the other hand the japanese voices are cool but i didnt liked the music fading when no enemies are present. Anyone knows if the 35 characters all have story mode or are there some ones like ranmaru in SW2 that didnt have it?

Anyone knows if the 35 characters all have story mode or are there some ones like ranmaru in SW2 that didnt have it? From the Musou Stage List topic...
(Please take note that Okuni, Nōhime, Ranmaru, Yoshimoto, Kotarō, Toshiie and Katsuie do not have musou modes.)

OH THANK HEAVENS. No WO Hideyoshi.
I'm content. Unless they get Tony Oliver and SW1 Okuni back in there... but still, NO WO HIDEYOSHI! That's enough for a jubilation!

I mean, both the PAL and US versions have english as their primary language so I think it would be pointless to have two entirely different sets of VA's. I mean, this aint Thomas the Tank Engine.

well you know how rediculous koei can be sometimes lol does anyone know about VA's though for Okuni and inahime, isn't oichi's tara platt? She was in WO, I think? I don't think the SW characters kept their VAs in WO as they weren't the same voice acting company, and that company didn't return for SW3. So, could be Tara Platt. She sounded alright, though I'm not sure if she fits Oichi of SW3, seeing as she's no longer whiny, mopey, and depressingly mellow (and thank GOD for that).
I'm still hoping they at least keep the option for both English and Japanese voices for the US release of the game. That'd be nice... the subbers can be happy, and the dubbers can be happy as well.

Er...yeah. I mean, both the PAL and US versions have english as their primary language so I think it would be pointless to have two entirely different sets of VA's. I mean, this aint Thomas the Tank Engine. Lolz. Yeah I don't see why they'd have two separate voice castings. It's not like the voiceactors from the PAL version will have British accents or anything that would call for reason to have separate voice actors. Infact aren't most of Koei's English voice actors from Canada or something?
One more question for you guys: Are -ZAN- and Setsugekka by GACKT still in the game? Or did they unjapanize it and have a really crappy lackluster british love song replace it (like with Final Fantasy XIII and that god awful song "My Hands," from British singer Leona Lewis that replaced Final Fantasy XIII's original theme song, "Kimi ga Iru kara".)? Someone told me that you can unlock ZAN as a normal song that plays during battles or something is that true?

BAH
None of the shops I tried in our town have it, although GAME should have it soon.
I'll either bully my mum into taking us into the next town where there are lots of gaming shops, or try and buy it at the Expo tommorow

Someone told me that you can unlock ZAN as a normal song that plays during battles or something is that true? I heard that when you clear Kenshin's story mode you'll be able to hear that song sometimes during the final battle of any story mode (fifth stage).

Just a short impression from my side:
I played through with Hanbei (surprise, surprise) and really don't have much of a complain.
I checked out HIS english voice at the start and instantly... disliked it an switched back after a few minutes. I don't think it fits him at all. It might be because I know the japanese one already, but... No. Just no. Even thought I think I recognized the synchronist.
I did not really notice any kind of "lagging" due to the slower framerate. I had my enemy officer disappear on me once thought,. I'm not sure if he 'disappeared' or if I just couldn see him in the sea of soldiers, but I just needed to beat him once (finding him through the detail map) and I had him in my view again.
Some of the missions are harder to do than others, some I've stamped 'No way' straight from the start.
I also tested the Hanbeicopter <333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333 once I had it. Yes, it's very much beloved
I also hadn't had problems doing combos at all. I did had problems at first triggering special combinations like the Hanbeicopter.
And Seraphil was definitly right! You don't even know a third of it if you didn't actually play the game and are only relying on cutscenes.
On the other hand my impression of Kanbei-dono and Hanbei were perfect on spot. Only that Hanbei is even more awesome than I thought. And the german translation is crap. I'll set my Wii to english later and hope for something better.
Also about the FMO. I can't say this for all characters, but Hanbei actually had a bit of interaction with No in two battles. They do in some ways get their 'story' or 'spotlight' in the game, even without an own story line, I'd suppose
And that's it for the first three hours of gaming. We'll (me and a friend) will beat Motochika's story now in 2-player-mode. Lateeeeeeeeeeeeeer.
P.S. Where is that review thread I read about earlier? I couldn't find it.

just looked at the news... damn it!
ok, this is pissin me off... its bad enough japan gets all the fun and glory when it comes to all these new games... but why in god's name... is EUROPE of all places getting so much attention?!
why the hell is europe getting tons of special gatherings, early access, and so much other crap, while america is left behind in the dust?
this country sucks enough, and now i cant even rely on games to bring me any hope because we're the last thought on anyone else's minds...
japan and europe get huge celebrations and parades, special items and collectibles when these games come out, and when its FINALLY time for america to get one... ppbbt! they just toss the game to us after its been exhausted and no one cares about it anymore...
...meh, anyway... so europe gets this damned game TODAY, huh?
when does it come to america? august 28th 2011?
oh, i know... america isnt even getting the game, is it?
Ok.. sorry my vid is taking forever... it will be up soon
This wont be the best vid every in terms of quality.. but its just to show some of the voice's as its the only thing that would be new lol.. its not a complete battle either because of the time limit.. But there's already vids out there so.. Meh..

I almost finished Kaihime's story. Up to this point I've got no complains (except that she's got such a sluggish moveset).

:/.. actually you guys are gona hate the english voices.. No one ever tried to get them right or even likeable.. Im sure others can back me up on this... Im not even a big fan of mago's anymore D:. Just curious: Does this mean Koei's given everyone a new VA, or does it seem like some characters retain VAs from past installments and they've just altered their manners of speaking? Also, do any of the voices sound familiar from past installments, even if they belonged to different characters in those games?
The reason I'm asking is because I was wondering if Koei was going to try to hold on to the VAs from WO/2, or if they were going to hire on a new bunch now that Agile Sound is out of the picture.
Also, to those of you have the game, congrats! And to those of you who are still searching your game stores, good luck! (Feel free to post any English gameplay vids you feel like making )

It sounds like a new set of voice actors. Thanks for the quick reply.
I had a feeling Koei might hire on a new team. Hopefully these voices will grow on me; coming off of SW1XL, it took a while for me to get used to the SW2 VAs, although I was happy with most of them (although to this day I still don't like listening to surfer-cowboy Keiji). But, with the inclusion of the Japanese voices, I have options if I don't care for them, so I suppose it's a win-win situation.
EDIT: Posted after your edit. So some voices sound familiar? Interesting. And you have my gratitude for uploading vids.
