Not looking to start a played-out argument on VA opinions so we don't need to try and draw that out.

Of course the 'laptop mic' comment wasn't literal, I've seen the pictures just like you. But that doesn't discount the audio quality, or lack thereof, I was trying to get across- there WAS an echo effect and bad recording quality on a majority of the voicing in SW2, there can't be no denying that. Th audio tracks weren't blended and mastered well enough to make a competent fit. I make music and study it, but even then even just a regular listener should be able to distinguish the audio echo, caused by either the mics or echo within the studio itself, and it did detract a sense of professionalism I feel that a studio should have. Thus the laptop mics comparison.

About the VAs themselves- I haven't bought the US release of SW3 and don't plan to, but from what little I've heard of the voices the "quality VAs" I was referring to are not present in the game (Lang, Blum, Epcar, Rye, Billingsea). If they are and deliver such lack luster performaces you say they have, then cool, but I'm talking about SW1 and SW2 and its respective shift. And yes some of the pros may have had bad performaces like Thorton and Tadakatsu, but the aforementioned were anything but and captured the characters perfectly in a sense that other VAs have not been able to reach as well.

You like SW2 VAs and I like SW1 VAs, but there's no needs to clash over it especially with how much of the topic has been beaten to death years before, and this really isn't the place to be doing it. If you take offense to how I feel about AgileSound, then my bad, but those are my views regardless and aimed at them, not you.

I really do not see the whole bitching and moaning about VAs, who really cares?! You play SW for slauhtering of millions of peons am i right? If so then some voices which are heard for only atleast 30 seconds shouldnt matter whatsoever, its not liike its an RPG like AC where you hear voices the entre time. Really. If you are so bothered, there is a japanese option since most people love the japanese option, which I also dont understand :/

Well, I do care since that would disturb me to play a game with crappy voice in a conversation. Because my objection is not just to kill, but also to understand the story as well as get the secrets or treasures. This reason has pushed me to move to Japanese version since Sengoku Musou 2 and I could learn Japanese slowly from this game.

See if it were a badly dubbed anime or something I'd be irked due to all visuals, but I'm also an avid reader so the huge amount of text in the game can draw me away from the voices. If ever they irk me, I just switch them to Japanese.

Maybe KOEI was too lazy to make new models. Somehow, that wouldn't surprise me. xD But these are actually indeed nice easter eggs or cameos or whatever. I didn't noticed it before, too.
The third one kinda reminds me of Okatsu from Kessen III.

Let’s not judge people on how famous they are.. Everybody has to start out at some point and i think the work Agile Sound did was amazing and i found nothing wrong with it.. I’m not sure what this echoness Honda was talking about but i never noticed it... I was happy with every single voice that they did in sw2...

Ive never really took notice of voices but when you have a game like sw2 for years and you grew to love the voice's of these characters... You start to miss them when they are gone... Part of what i loved about Magoichi, Hideyoshi and Mitsunari was the voice's... Its just how i feel :/ lol..

And on this cameo topic, this is prob off-topicish and crazy.. But does anyone else think kai looks a bit like cheryl cole :XD ... Or is it just me

LOL

I have nothing against the peeps at Agile Sounds, but I can hear the echo effect that Hondam's pointed out. No, it doesn't make the game terrible, but it's just irritating to think that a professional company wouldn't think to fix that. Makes it sound deeper than what it really was, heavy, and lessens the quality a bit. Then again, it was really, really obvious in Empires, and that probably has something to do with the lack of music in the background, therefor making it SO much more obvious. They all sounded heavy...

I'll admit that I harp on VA quality a little too much in video games, but it's nice to expect some conscious effort from the VA? I mean, you're being paid to bring a character to life, can you pretend that you at least give a ****? From what I've heard of English SW3, this isn't too obvious and those that do sound 'dullish' are the ones that probably should (Motonari comes to mind; he's suppose to sound like he's bored).

Effort, people, effort. That's what I like. Now, too MUCH effort can be just as bad. See Tony Oliver's SW1 Ranmaru, WO Hideyoshi and Yuri Lowenthal's Hanbei. Two of the VAs are GOOD (or decent) VA's, but for whatever stupid reason, completely kill a character by delivering a terrible voice for that character. Yuri really disappointed me with this performance... I KNOW he's a good VA. We all know he's a good VA. BUT WHY DID HE MAKE HANBEI SOUND SO... STUFFY NOSED AND ANNOYING? I'm going to chock up this disgrace on his name to the director; whoever told him to use that voice needs to be kicked in the balls. Yuri has a great voice already; stop ruining it with bad direction.

So, yeah, I'll admit that I care too much for VA work, but it's really important to me. I only wish it was important to the west as it is in Japan.

It was pretty interesting compaired to others... The stories in this game dont even come par to how great they were in sw2... its just 2 big of time line... the story is pretty much just how he copes with fighting and that he would really rather write about the wars and be a historian... Kinda meh-ish... But he is a fun character to play as and his first 2 cutscenes are pretty amusing :P

I think it would depend on which character we're looking at. Obviously, Magoichi's SW2 story could be considered better than his SW3, probably because of how important a role he played in the overall story, as opposed to acting as Masamune's 'guardian'. Of course, you only see 30% of the story in the cut scenes in this game anyway.

From what I've read, Hanzo's SW3 story is leagues ahead of his SW2, probably because they didn't make him out to be all 'ninja is shadow/I do stuffs for my master'. Sure, he still has the whole preachy 'how to be a ninja' attitude, but this time around they added in some REAL conflict and character interaction with Nene (and both of them ended up looking good because of it. It shows the caring side of who we thought to be completely void of human emotion and compassion of Hanzo, and also showed the effects of the war and the loss of her husband and 'children' for Nene.). I'd say Hanzo was never better in the SW series as he is in this game, all because they actually threw in some spice to his story.

Yukimura's story is back to being pretty damn good, but anything was better than his snorefest of the story that was SW2's. Also, what I feel makes the stories in SW3 great is how they're connected to one another's. Such as how Ina's, Yukimura's and Ieyasu's are connected to one another, and how important it is to play them in order. That's nice to have, especially in a game who's story seems to focus more on relationships as a whole as opposed to the individual character.

So, I'd say it's a matter of opinion and the bigger picture. I rather like how connected the characters and plot is in this game.

I think it would depend on which character we're looking at. Well... Some characters stories are better mainly because of how poor and unworked on they were in sw2 like Hanzo's and No's and that would be why... However even if all the stories are on par with each other and better then some of the poor ones in sw2, there wont be any outstanding ones there were in sw2...

Thanks for posting the link and a huge thank you to everyone who's uploaded cutscenes so far! Kanbei's voice seems to suit him more each time I hear it. Hanbei's as well. And it's a shame the ending wasn't posted but what can you do? Hopefully the other cutscenes will be posted over time.

And by chance would anyone have the translations for the characters' image songs? Google translations can only be so accurate x.x;

I've now just got this game delivered yesterday.

Voice acting is a big deal to me as well. Largely my favorite characters from the past have drawn me in, as I find listening to a person's character and story to be vital. To enjoy a game is to enjoy several aspects of a title, such as the music and the VA performances, as well as other things. My choices do not tend to be based on how good a character's skill is in battle at all really, but what I like to hear. As also I'm a very big fan of KOEI's music.

I guess now I can find out what I seriously think about the sound in SW3. Rather than just count on watching videos.

I've finished Yukimura's story. Really glad that his emotional version of Osaka did him justice.

Right now I'm on Muneshige's and have cleared the second level. I'm trying to not think about his voice, it's not instantly likeable to me, but I probably mainly keep thinking about how it's been used in the past for generics.

One of the best feelings is to try out a new character in a Warriors game.

I can't get the image of the DW5 generic strategist out of my head whenever Muneshige speaks. One's head is not just for filling a helmet!
Ahh, that's where I heard the voice actor from. Mitsunari has the same actor as the DW6 Strategist model.

The dubbing isn't all that bad, actually, save for two specific characters (*ahem* Nagamasa and Mitsuhide!). Even though I didn't like it before, Kanbei's voice sounds more fitting each time I listen to it.

EDIT:
ChibiGingi

That's Tony Oliver for you. At least he doesn't have a constant cold like he does with Xiahou Yuan and Lu Meng... ugh, why did he use that voice for those two? Why did he do those two to begin with?
That's Tony Oliver? There's another voice delivery that he shouldn't be doing.
Mitsuhide sounds like Vic Mignogna though which = win.
