KOEI Warriors Forever!

I must say that Samurai Warriors 3 has completely exceeded my expectations. The graphics are much better than PS2 and there is plenty of game content with all the different game modes. By far my favorite SW game with the exception of Kotaro not having a story mode. I also think cutscenes are better too. The Keiji story mode is a lot fun. I was a bit disappointed with Kiyomasa's story. One thing that annoys me is how many times they use the word "fool" and "vestige" in the game. Has anyone else noticed how skinny and sharp looking the models are? It might be my TV or something. I might just have to put off buying SB3 because I think I'll still be playing this game by the time it comes out. |

Koei made the game this is true. But Nintendo of America was responsable for the games distribution, not Koei. So if your unhappy with the fact that we had to wait Four Months for Samurai Warriors Three's release, then you'd do best to take that up with Nintendo. Not Koei. ChibiGingi? Murasame Castle Mode is the only thing that has Online Cooperation. So it's in there. It just wasn't put in Samurai Warriors Three with full force. At least... Koei's learning.... I hope........

I think the reasons have to do with more of the issues with the companies rather than the game itself. First off, KOEI America lost their Sales and Marketing Manager before the time the game was about to be released in Europe. Plus the distribution of the game is quite expensive, so it makes sense to first sell it where there is less people to see how well the game is received. Since Nintendo was handling distribution they probably wanted to also wait until after all their big titles were released like Mario Galaxy 2 (May 23). Another important reason would also be E3. It's a pretty good decision on their part because the game would get even more tracking since it would be playable at the Nintendo and TECMO-KOEI booths. Not to mention the extra press and coverage for the game. The date they chose for North America was good because there weren't many other big releases at the time. |

I liked Kotaro more in this game, where he wasn't so obsessed with chaos and wind and had a purpose. Like at Kyushu, when he would show up and claim he needed to stop the battle because then Hideyoshi's attention would turn to Kanto. It was just good to see he actually served someone, rather than just ran around and stuck his nose anywhere he wanted and preached about winds of chaos. Also, I liked Oichi's story. I like that she and Nobunaga are finally getting some kind of interaction. I don't remember Nobunaga ever uttering the word 'sister' in past games, so it was nice to see/hear this time around. Towards the end, he story turned into a very mushy one that was familiar from SW2, but it wasn't as overplayed. Plus, I love her new moveset. and I loved Yukimura's story. Never cared for his in the past, but this time around it was pretty cool. |

I've FINALLY found this game at Best Buy, the only place I can find it! But with my Wii broken and a price of $50 for the game, I have to hold out on buying it right now. I might get myself a new Wii and this game when Christmas comes around, though... at least, that's what I'm hoping. Still can't wait to play it!

Wow, now I got stuck on Murasame Castle mode. I made it to Murasame Castle, but I was unprepared for the damage output the monsters were putting out in there. Maybe it's high time to power-up Takamaru himself. I've succeeded in getting Ina's 4th weapon, the only one I've tried so far. Seeing as how I did a number of trial runs on Normal I got my strategy down pat so I got it on the first run. Only thing is, I'm really not sure what to make of the weapon itself, since I grew to like having the Spirit Charge on the weapon (doubly so for Ina since her Special pretty much fills it to max with it; it's so ridiculous how high a combo she can rack). Motonari is okay... he does have the Element charge special, after all. Although.. the exploding arrows is probably the best mod, particularly after I already found a Death element weapon for him very early on. His combo potential is also pretty ridiculous; I tried it out on the Tachibana Rescue mission, but I screwed up and lost the 400 combo for the Tactical Objective since I didn't finish off the guy with it. As for Motonari himself... I couldn't stand his orange coat and ended up color changing it to ice blue. |

After playing Oichi's and Ujiyasu's stories I'm much happier about the game. I love both of their movesets and I think their stories were really well done. Oichi's had the right mix of Nagamasa and Nobunaga, and Hideyoshi's comments made me laugh each time. Ujiyasu just surprised me completely. His moveset was much more fun than I expected and I liked how he grew from the fool he was called originally. Their spirit attacks were also pretty cool too; I really like that addition. Not to mention, I'm loving all the stage designs. I really want to get the stories done before I start any other modes though, so I still know nothing about Murasame Castle.

Of the stories I've finished, the one I don't know HOW I feel about is Kaihime's. I don't like it, but I don't really hate it either. She's definitely a lot better (personality wise) than I was expecting, but boy does she really grind on my gears a few times. She reminds me a lot of Inpphy from N3; really passionate and means well, but spends all her time screaming about really trivial things (her going off about not liking guys who think they're smooth and sounding like she was sobbing made me lose a teeny bit of respect for her, but she immediately gained it back with her encounter with Masamune on that same level). That, and her cat fights with Kunoichi range from being funny to clucking chickens annoying... at least by the end it got a little more tolerable. Seriously, Yukimura doesn't like EITHER of you, so stop with your childish bickering. (YukiXIna all the way) |

I definitely like Oichi more this time. I hated her in 2. So annoying, and her design was pretty meh too (though her design here is way too pink, but I fixed that :hehe:) Also loove her new weapon. It's a lot of fun. I really enjoyed her Odani Castle stage but her final stage is pretty damn crazy. I'm not looking forward to tryin' for her ultimate weapon. |

Wow, Mitsuhide is such a little tool in this game. I do not think I ever disliked him before, but this game... wow... really working his best to make me want to kick him in the face. Good job, writers... I think this is how we're SUPPOSE to feel about a traitorous little weasel. Now, to go play traitorous little weasel... |

I really think they changed a lot of peoples stories from SW2 Magoichi and Hideoyshi were best friends in 2 and I loved that but in this one they dont seem that close, its just kind of weird when you base it off of the Samurai Warriors 2 |

*gasp* N-n-n-n-no! Nobuyuki has been my number one most wanted for the SW (and SB aswell, but thats irrelevant) since the first game. I really hope the JP fans aren't as into this pairing as the NA and EU fans seem to be, because if Koei decides to just fuse Nobuyuki and Yukimura into one character I'll be majorly dissapointed. I'll never accept this pairng anyway, it's just too weird. |

The YukiXIna part wasn't done in complete seriousness... while I kind of like it myself, the dynamics between them is far more compelling than any romance story could ever be. Saving those two and Ieyasu for last, because I recall them having the best freakin' stories in this game, maybe even all of the SW series. |

It's recommended that Ieyasu's be one of the last played anyway, since his story ties with a lot of the other characters. Ina's IRRC, MUST be played after Yukimura's. Coming off SW2's stories can be a bit odd at first, especially for Magoichi. But heck, at least Masamune has a proper buddy now. You know what I remember during the height of the SW3 debacle? The whole rut about "Kunoichi getting killed", and yet it was just a battle message. I seriously lmao at how much that was taken out of context. |

I barely recall that event... I can't even remember WHY people freaked out over it. Now, I recall that little video Tetsuo did in retaliation to all the requests/demands to play her during his livefeed one day. THAT was worth a thousand laughs. One thing I really like about this game is the fact that when an officer/friend/ally dies and depending on the level, they get to say something to the player before dying, and sometimes the character the player is using actually RESPONDS. See, Nobunaga at Honnoji- Nouhime and Ranmaru's deaths were actually rather touching. I don't recall the last game having that much emphasis on that part, but I'm guessing that's because in this game, they pretty much stick to the historical part for Nobunaga and while you won the level, you just KNEW it was over for him. I don't know, I kind of like the bittersweet endings. It's always been what separated SW's story telling to DW's, which always seemed too happy, too unrealistic. (Though, there are times I miss the party boat endings...) SW is one of the only series that can have bittersweet endings and not cause me to ragequit. |

Nobunaga's story ends with him actually dying? Well, that's pretty good. I rather disliked his SW2 ending, even though his Dream Stage was one of my favorites in the game. |

I think it's more implied, but that's the jist of what I got from it. It ends with him telling Mitsuhide "I forgive you" and then walking towards the flames. Whether he dies or simply disappears is left to question, but there is a cut scene that is played throughout other characters' stories where the narrator explains the event and ends with Nobunaga turning away into a sea of flames. It's really left to the player's imagination I guess, but it seems fitting. A LOT of these stories are connected, filling whatever level gaps that may exist for other characters (I guess its one way of making sure they're not spamming the Sekigahara stage like in the last game, but Osaka Campaign merely took its place). I haven't played Magoichi's story yet, but I recall watching cut scenes and reading Seraphil and Tetsuo explain that they are tied into each other, and Magoichi actually kind of finishes both of their stories (Masamune's story mode ends at Hasedo, but it is continued with Magoichi's, ending at Osaka). I also think Nene's story ends with Hanzo's- sure, her ending has it to where the land is united under Hideyoshi after Komaki-Nagakute, but then you see her again in Hanzo's Osaka Campaign, ending both of their stories. I like it. It REALLY seems like there is actual time passing throughout the game, connecting storylines and characters, and not simply a made-up story with some BS happy ending for each character. A few exceptions here and there, but all in all, they feel more connected than the last installation. Too bad more people are going to probably notice the lack of in-battle cut scenes than anything else this game has to offer.

Yeah, it rather stinks that people would not appreciate the stories more. I have yet to play the game (I HOPEFULLY will get it this week), but so far it seems that the general consensus on story is good. Then again, some people just don't play games for story. Personally, a videogame has potential for some well-written stories as much as a book or a movie. |

Well, you know historically Nobunaga's body wasn't found, either. It's anyone's guess as to what happened to him, other than the obvious conclusion that he was no longer a major player in the game. But, in any case. Spoiler: click to toggle
I read this entry on TvTropes that suggested that Yuki X Ina was a fact in this game, and it's in fact a one-sided view from the perspective of KAI of all people. Kai calls Ina Kunoichi's 'love rival' and tells Ina to keep her hands off Yukimura. Kai, the one that's actively trying to get a man. All this considering this is also the same level that has Ina's husband on it. Edited by Amakusa, Mon Oct 4, 2010 8:12 am.

Whether Nobunaga dies or simply disappears, his story trumps the previous one, in my opinion at least. I think it's tied with the first game's upper branch ending, though. Sure, it breaks cannon/history, but that speak and the cinematic at the end are simply hard to forget. I dunno... both of them are great for various reasons, and vastly superior compared to the second game. As for that TvTrope entry... wait, what?
