I'm so glad some of the VAs from WO stayed on and did SW3. Nobunaga, Yoshihiro, and Kotaro especially. Hideyoshi's in this game though, ugh. I know it wasn't a popular voice, but I'd of much preferred his WO VA to come back. Having some fun with the game, just playing through my first story with Ginchiyo. Man I'm so envious. My copy of the game is faulty to the point that stories and Murasame can't be accessed at all. Heck one of the major driving points in getting the game was the stories in the first place. I just spent 70 hours of gameplay unlocking characters the long way without playing any stories. And now that I unlocked all of them, I've hit a dead end. |

Sorry man, that sucks. I haven't played Free Mode yet, but don't you have to play Story Mode to unlock more battles? I'd hate to play the same few battles over and over again. Is it possible to get a new one? I read your post about how much of a struggle it was to get that copy, so I don't know how practical it would be. --------- I beat Ginchiyo's story last night. I have to be honest, I was a bit disappointed with it. They don't really explain much. I bought Ujiyasu Hōjō and I'm currently playing through his story now. I'm liking it much better since there are more FMVs and they explain what is going on much better. At this point it feels like they decided that "Ok look, we already explained everything in Ginchiyo's story in SW2, no point in beating a dead horse. But since Ujiyasu is a new character we need to work extra hard to explain his role in the franchise." Oh, and are there any in-battle cutscenes in this game? Because I've beaten about 9 story battles thus far and other than the FMV you get in the middle of Ujiyasu's first battle, I've seen nothing. Man, I wish there was more discussion on this game going on at the moment. I'm in the mood to discuss it now that I have it. I guess that's what I get for waiting a while to buy the game.

When you unlock characters, their first stages are unlocked for free mode play as well. For example if you unlock Keiji or Ieyasu, Anegawa will be unlocked. Or if you unlock Mitsuhide or Kanbei, Nagashino will be unlocked. Tadakatsu/Ina-Mikatagahara Tokugawa side, Motochika-Kizugawa, Yoshihiro-Kyushu Shimazu side, Magoichi/Masamune-Ueda Castle, etc. It definitely adds more replayability since some of the first stages for characters are later stages for others. For example, Hanbei's first couple of stages are Inaba Castle, Anegawa, Nagashino and Kizugawa. The only two characters you can't get their first stages in Free mode are Ujiyasu and Motonari. I COULD get a new one but that would cost a fair amount of money that I just can't afford to spend right now. My other option was to go all Gan Ning and get a pirated copy, but that's extremely tricky business here due to the number of factors like proper game rip or proper Wii mods. And for some strange reason, none of the Gan Ning stores I go to even have copies of the game. So yeah I'm screwed. The main reason I asked for my copy to be bought in the US was so that I wouldn't have to buy it myself or go the Gan Ning route. No way I can ship it back and have it exchanged either since the warranty expired during the trip overseas. On top of that I'm rather paranoid now. Because SW3 is a dual layer disc they might have trouble playing on Wii's. When I had my Wii repaired in hopes that it was an internal error, we tried my copy on a regular, un-modded Wii and the same errors occurred. Who's to say that a new genuine copy I buy of the game might encounter the same problems? Free Mode and Historical Mode are about the only things I can do in the game. Yeah there are definitely more in-battle cutscenes besides Ujiyasu. You should've been here when SW3 was still new, there was far more discussion going on back then, but DW will always garner more people. Edited by Xalfrea, Sun May 29, 2011 2:17 am.

I'm sorry for your pain, Xalfrea. I guess if you want to look at the silver lining, at least you're able to play the game at all. And 70 hours no less. I do hope that one day you'll be able to figure out a way to either get a new copy or find out what's wrong, as Story Mode is enjoyable. Murasame castle though, IMO you're not missing anything. I probably won't touch it again. I wasn't really in SW mode back when it was first released because I knew it would of been a long while before I was able to buy it. That, and I was holding off for a US PS3/360 edition (because OBVIOUSLY we'd get one... ) so I wouldn't really of been able to contribute anything to the conversation.

Yeah, it's the stories that really motivated me to get the game in the first place. It also helps that Wii is the only system that I have so I'd have even more of a reason to get it. Even though I hear Murasame is tedious at best, three unlockables (Takamaru, Matsukaze mount and Bear mount) are still there. |

Something involving collecting Tanuki statues at certain difficulty levels, but that's all I really know. I think you might have been dissatisfied with Ginchiyo's story because of its connection to Muneshige's. SRS did mention that the overarching theme of the stories is "bonds", and how characters interact with each other. SRS recommended this in a previous thread:

That makes a lot more sense, thanks for the tip. Lucky too, I was going to play Ieyasu's after I beat Kanbei & Kenshin's (which would be VERY early, as I've only beaten two thus far). Looks like I have to beat Muneshige's soon as well to maybe tie Ginchiyo's together.

Samurai Warriors 3 should come out for Xbox 360. I can't believe it didn't .. Koei dissapointed me greatly by making it Wii & Ps3 only.

This is Japan, where the Xbox 360 is practically a no-show there, so its not surprising. I think if SW3Z WAS going to be brought to the US it would have a 360 release (like what happened with DW7), and therefore be available on all 3 major platforms. But as that's not gonna happen, you'll either have to make due with the Wii version or get Chronicles for the 3DS. |

Quick question, can you play the Imagawa side of Okehazama? And if so, how do I get it? I can't really see anyone who's playable in story mode actually having that battle in theirs. |

Nope, it's not playable in SW3 (as far as I know). However, in XL and Z Yoshimoto gets the stage on Imagawa side. |

The way it works is after a set amount of broken tanuki you unlock the takamaru only stages (with good armor unlocks), takamaru to buy after a set amount, and if you have all 54 tanuki broken on normal you get matsukaze. Then there is nightmare mode which is same, but a whole **** harder (thus being called nightmare mode ). You must complete normal to get it. To get bear mount and even better special armor you do nightmare mode. Personally I don't think its worth the effort, although murasame mode after a while gets you a lot of rice.

Aw poopy, I was perusing Gamefaqs when I suddenly remembered that Gamefaqs usually offers free save files. So imagine my disappointment when I find that there are none for SW3. Anyone willing to put some up? |

Not possible without hacks/homebrew. It's one of those no-copying saves like super smash bros brawl. Sorry mate, just gonna have use gecko codes for now. |

They seem to have some at http://www.wiisave.com/index.php?cid=556. I don't know how the region locks work or how to use Savegame Manager GX to get them working on your system though. |

Yeah I was PISSED. I'm not about to screw up my Wii anymore, especially since I don't even use it too much these days anyway. But what is this gecko thing? Don't tell me it's another homebrew app...I soooo can't afford any of these enhancements. |

i unlocked everything...was disappointed...and returned the game..seriosuly the bear is slow as you know what and the reason i would want a mount is to get to a point faster...couldn't care less if it's the strongest. 2. you really want to ride the bear? play DW7 and get the bear and that's EXACTLY what it is. |

How do you even obtain mounts? I've already done 2 stories and I'm still without a mount. Random drops or do you have to do something specific? |

Yeah, mount drops are completely random. Unlike DW6, there's no exploitation method to get them. Out of the 12 mounts in the game (2 of them being in Murasame), I've gotten about 6 of them. So, 90 hours into my gameplay time, I've just been leveling up characters and getting rice. With my disc screwed up beyond belief, I've made a checklist of what I can even do to salvage what I have: Unlock all characters Unlock all weapons do be used for CAW Unlock color alteration for free mode only characters Level up all characters to max Unlock max stats I unlocked everybody (bar Takamaru), and without story modes it took me roughly 70 hours. At the rate I've been leveling up the characters I've got about 700 rice. I plan to get the maximum amount (Can't go beyond 999 from what I heard), then I can unlock all CAW weapon styles in one go, and probably even color alteration for the FMO characters. Unlocking the max stats is gonna be the biggest issue. It costs 300 to unlock for one. And considering I only earn 5-7 rice per stage... |

You probably don't have many scenarios to clear in Free Mode, I guess. Since isn't only a handful available at start? (as completing story modes unlocks many more). |

Yes, I don't have too many scenarios in Free Mode, but it's sorta enough to make faux story modes for everybody. Without clearing any story modes, but unlocking all characters, this is pretty much what you have: Suruga-Sagami Conflict (Takeda) , Kanto Campaign (Uesugi), Okehazama (Oda), Inaba Castle (Saito), Anegawa (Oda-Tokugawa), Tonegawa (Hojo-Takeda), Mikatagahara (Takeda & Tokugawa), Nagashino (Oda-Tokugawa), Kizugawa (Oda), Tedorigawa (Uesugi), Iga (Tokugawa), Shizugatake (Hashiba), Kyushu (Tachibana & Shimazu), Ueda Castle (Sanada) Like I said earlier, unlocking characters unlocks their first playable stage for free mode as well (Except for Ujiyasu and Motonari), and some of the unlock stages coincide with their actual story modes (Best example is Hanbei). But yes, I still wish I can play some of other stages. Historical Mode at least gives me access to Kawagoe, Kawanakajima, Honnoji, Yamazaki, Komakii-Nagakute, Odawara, Sekigahara and Osaka, but it's just not the same playing it in story modes with the already given characters and their narratives. |
