My favourite story mode would definitely have to be Lady Noh's in SW1, all the intrigue was great, definitely one of Koei's finest stories ever, it was so well done. Or Okuni's SW1 as it had so many alternate unlockable endings and unique versions of stages, which i liked.. On the other hand my least favourite would be Noh's SW2 story because it lacked everything in my opinion, she was a mindless 'husband follower', had a village rescue thrown in there *ughhh* and her gaiden was pointless and just not neccesary in my opinion. Though i do admit another factor for making it my worst was how much of a dissapointment it was compared to the SW1 story... I might elaborate later and also include my favourite SW2 story and least favourite SW1 story... |

I don't have SW1 so I don't really know... My least favourite in SW2 is Hanzo story mode.....I mean all he talks about in his story is about protecting his lord.....I just hate that part and none of the story is ever about just him.....Its always has to have his lord crap..... My favourite will have to be Musashi Miyamoto story mode.....His stroy mode in my opinion is the best.....His gaiden was awesome since you can face all the officers from japan except Oda Nobunaga since you know he died..... |

Hard choice. Can't stick to one. Favourite-wise, I do love SW1 Noh's story myself. That was masterful, as Astus says. The relationship between her and Nobunaga in that was complex and interesting. I also like Mitsuhide's in SW1. SW2 Musashi is great for the development and yeah, his gaiden is great. Kojiro and Motochika in SW2:XL also have interesting stories. Least favourite... SW1, I didn't like Tadakatsu's mode. No specific reason, haha. SW2, I really disliked Noh's, for being so poor compared to her SW1, and Tadakatsu's again. |

hmm, i dont have SW1, so i cant chose any from that game, but from SW2, my least favourite you have to be kenshin...or shingen...i just dont really like them, not that interesting for me, but i love oichi's and nagamasa's, as you go through their whole story, and go through all the emotions...and i still say that the best ever ending movie for any game in the world has to be Oichi's ending in SW2, its just so...perfect... oh, i also like mitsunari's story

Same here,I don't have SW1 either.T_T Best musou mode(s) would be Nagamasa's,Kotaro's,Hanzo's,Tokugawa's and Mitsunari's story modes..those were my fav's. The worst would be,IMO:Ina,Nene and Nouhime's. those are almost cloned stories: Nouhime -->Nobunaga Nene --->Hideyoshi Ina -->Tadakatsu Apart from their gaiden story's,of course. |

Favorite - Man, it's a hard decision. I'm gonna go with Okuni's SW1 story mode. I loved playing as her in that game, and I liked her battles. Kawanakajima on Okuni's side? I'm there and loving it. Least Favorite - Another hard desicion. I'm gonna have to say Goemon's SW1 story mode. It's not that I didn't like him, it's quite the opposite actually. He's one of my favorite characters. Its just that most of his battles were castle infultrations, and I despise those battles. Edited by SnowMan, Sun Apr 17, 2011 8:53 pm.

Still ploughing through SW1, though I haven't played it in ages or finished one musou mode yet so I can't really comment there  Favourite - I really liked Nagamasa's. I was very confused the first time I did it but it was enjoyable all the same and certainly different. The cutscenes were very good too in telling the story. I also like Mitsunari's. Not sure why but I like him a lot. Least Favourite - Yoshihiro's. I found it such a drag getting through his story. I don't like him at all and I in the end had to force myself to finish it. Edo is in there too (if I recall correctly) and I hate that battle, it takes ages even more so with him. |

I am among those who don't have SW1... And it looks like people like listing things for no reason here too... Anyway from what I've played of SW2 and 2XL: Favorite-Musashi Amongst all of the entire SW2 cast, his is the one that starts off the latest, in the aftermath of the Battle of Sekigahara, using him also pretty fun, and for me anyway I never get tired of playing his story. Least favorite-Ina Her's is just....boring. Theres no word to describe it. Her story mode can pretty much be given to any other Tokugawa general. The only good thing about her story is her Gaiden. Indifferent-Yoshimoto On one hand, using the doofus Yoshimoto in a story mode that just involves him preaching kemari in major stages is a turnoff, but on the other hand, it's hilarious to watch and listen to his ramblings. |

SW1 Favourite: Tadakatsu-especially his lower path where he take on everyone, and his them song play many time when play as him. Least favourite: Kunoichi-Gifu castle, the way Mitsuhide fall for her trich is stupid, her ending make no sense <_< SW2 My favourite musou mode is Nagamasa: It has unpredictable twist and I alway like story with a twist. The way they tell his story is really good, and his final stage is the only Kanegasaki stage I don't have to rush  Mitsuhide come close a second but since this just about favourite and least favourite I just leave it at that. Least favourite: Ina- she is my favourite female character but her musou mode is a let down except her gaiden

If anyone ask me for my favorite Musou mode in SW, i would scream with all my lungs: "NOH STORY ROXX0RS" Seriusly, the conflicting hate/love Nobunaga storyline, with her ending, that hell awesome cutscene with Oichi at Anegawa and provided she is one sexy murderous and creepy lady, makes me love her Story with passion. Least favorite huh...lets see... Sadly i have tp say Ina, she my favorite female, but it was soooo boring she didnt even had cutscenes and her ending was a letdown (most dialogue is by Ieyasu), i think they could have done something way better for the archer chick |

I don't have SW1 and SW1XL. I have no choice but SW2. Most favorite: Its really a different pick so I'll just say that I like everyone's except Ina, No, and Nene. Least favorite: A hard decision for me. I'll say Ina's musou mode but her gaiden stage is a good one. @Queen of Monkey (Nene)@ Its not the musou its their story. |

Favourites: Noh in SW1. As many have mentioned, it was complex and interesting. Magoichi in both games. All the sniping missions in the first game was great, and I enjoyed his friendship in the second game. I particularly loved his SW1 ending (not to mention the fact you had to snipe Nobunaga every single time to get that level in the first place). Yoshihiro. His Edo Campaign where he decides to betray the Western army and take on everyone - that's just awesome. Not to mention he ends it with a duel with Ginchiyo... Masamune's SW1. Do I really need a reason? Okay...I love it how he charges into every single random campaign. Oh, and there's always the IMBECILE! IMBECILE! IMBECILE! Stuff. Imbeciles! Kotaro's. Very unique and interesting. Nagamasa's story is alright, but it sorely needed two separate paths. I did not enjoy his ultimate decision in the end, although the "Woo! It was all a dream!" thing was...interesting. He is a man conflicted with love and honour; why would he choose Nobunaga in the end (especially since Nobunaga was in fact a massively evil person who massacred people mercilessly) ? But his opening was really cool. Least Favourites: Sakon. Boring. He had nice cutscenes, but his levels were just...boring. Oh, and why the hell is his dream level Mitagahara? If I wanted to play Mitagahara as Sakon, I would play FREE MODE. Geez. Tadakatsu, Ina, and Hanzo's in SW2. Basically clones of each other. Ieyasu's is alright on virtue of him being Ieyasu. Nene, mostly because I just suck with her... Lady Noh's SW2 was just boring. Masamune's SW2. I kept waiting for him to betray everyone and attack, but he only does it at the very last level, which is itself unsatisfying. I would have liked a level where he flips out and fights EVERYONE. Oh, and why the hell is his dream stage just an average Eastern Army Sekigahara? Again, if I wanted to play Sekigahara with Masamune, I would use FREE MODE. I wish they made it a classical Masamune SW1 map where he charges in Sekigahara and decides to wail on both sides. Alas, it was not to be... |

Alright, my favourite Musou Mode has to by Yukimura's in SW1. It started out in Kawanikajima (sp?), a great battle in that game. You are in the detached unit sent to flank Kenshin's main camp, then Kenshin is not there and does his epic charge the main camp. You have to fight your way out the camp and into the center, as to save your allies who are always overrun by this point, and its just great fun. This then follows onto Mikatagahara. I prefer it when Shingen dies here, like it must do at first, as it is a lot more epic, has a cutscene involving the dying Shingen and Yukimura as well. The battle was great, stopping Oyomada being lured was an interesting mission, kill the guy luring him. Fairly easy, but interesting nonetheless. Then just the whole atmosphere of the battle in that game was great. Even before he was playable, Tadakatsu was still a mighty foe then, and held the rear of there forces as they withdrew. I like Shingen's dialogue of "Ieyasu has two things greater than he diserves. That Unique Helmet, and that Officer Tadakatsu." or whatever it is he says there. Then with Shingen dead it follows on to Nagashino, or if he lives, it also goes to an alternate Nagashino. The one when he dies is good, the Takeda Cavalry get slaughtered and you end up having to save Katsuyori from an army which charges at him. Shingen's version get rain falling, causing the muskets to be useless, before the charge is ordered, and its just madness in that one. From then it goes as Shingen's story does, but I prefer the other route, Yukimura's own story. After Nagashino it went to Ueda, one of my favourite levels in all of SW. You have to manually release the flood gate in that level, by detonating some explosives placed at it, which I believe was a nice touch. Then there is the stopping people at all enterances to thw castle entering, Nobuyuki at the north, and theres the saving Masayuki from Hanzo's assassination attempt. The battle as a whole was just great, with great music to boot. Though, there is absolutly no level in my mind that compare with the epicness that was Siege of Osaka Summer from SW1. Especially as Yukimura, as with anyone else (even Kunoichi) it was not quite as epic. The head officers don't trust you, you have to fight at the Sanada-maru, saving it from the enemy assasults. You have to get round to convince Hideyori to strike out, but it is for naught anyway. You must defend the keep from the cannons outside, and defend the sides from Masamune and a bunch of Generics. The enemy completly outnumber you, out morale you, and you are just put into the battle so well. There is also the music. I love the Osaka Castle music, but furthermore, I love Fate/Destiny, which comes on as Yukimura starts his final charge. I think its a great battle, so much atmoshpere. When you charge, it isn't a simple charge either. You get locked within an area until you can kill all the enemies before you can approach the main camp, at which point Ieyasu flee's, leaving Hanzo as the leader. This then leads on to the BEST ending I have seen in a Koei game. Then the fact during his musou mode his character develops a great deal, and his interactions with Shingen, Kunoichi, Hanzo and Ieyasu are all great. Ieyasu not so much, but it is there. As for my least favourite, it would likely be Oichi SW2. I like the moveset, but the campaign isn't great. I amn't much a fan of the romance thing between her and Nagamasa is probably the main reason why. and then it also has the annoying Pesant Rescue Level or whatever it is called I believe. |

I believe it was you doing the luring and not the other way around. So you had to help Oyamada accomplish the aim. But all you have said about Yukimura's story in SW1 is exactly on the money in my opinion. I just finished it a few days back, I left him to last in completing musou modes (finished it with all characters excluding Shingen and Kunoichi because you had to well, complete it with Yukes to get them) And it was epic, almost all the levels were uphill battles and you had to somehow pull it off. It was difficult but it brought with it a sense of achievement when completed. The Siege of Osaka (Summer) was the defining stage. It was pure awesome and you could literally feel the massive scope of it. |

Hmm? i've never answered this? no suprises. Astus nicely summed up my feelings about Lady Noh's Sw1 Story. probably KOEI's most accomplished storytelling to my mind, just lovely. and Kunoichi's i love this character, she made such a huge impression on me as a character and i loved the idea that she was the personification of Sanada Braves, i truly enjoy symbolism. she was funny, cool, dark, and dangerous and made Yuki a much more likeable guy. |

Now that I think about it, you're right. It has been a while since I have played that stage specifically, as well as the fact I was typing it up last night while fairly tired. I also agree with foomin about Kunoichi, as a character, but as far as her musou goes, it is enjoyable, one of my favourites probably, but more so due to the character than the story itself. Not that that can't be a reason to enjoy it among your favourites. |

I just started playing SW1 this week so I cannot pass judgement just yet as I've only played though with Yukimura, Shingen, and Kenshin. I do feel that Yukimura's Musou Mode is excellent, Ueda Castle and Osaka-Summer are incredible stages! Favorites in SW2: Kotara Fuuma's story mode was incredible, I didn't know what to expect starting out but I began enjoying it almost immediately. Koei was very creative, his battle of Mikatagahara is very challenging and fun every time I play it. I loved playing through Masamune's story mode and I do agree with another poster that I was always waiting for him to rebel in EVERY later stage. He is a fun character to play as, his Mikatagahara stage is great especially when I was getting his 4th weapon. Nagamasa's story is interesting, his opening video is IMO the best in SW2. The only thing I didn't like was when he woke up and than did what he did, for any who doesn't know what I'm referring to I won't give away any spoilers. Kanetsugu's story mode will round out my favorites list, I primarily like it because I like him as a character. I feel his video collection is indeed the best of any character. I got a sense of direct involvement in his history as it came to play out moreso than with any other character. Least favorite in SW2: Nohime: I will echo what everyone else has been saying it is bland and a carbon copy of Nobunaga's story. I never found her to be that fun to play as and her story mode just kills any likability I may have had for her. |

Favorite: My created character. lol. Just kidding. I liked Okuni's. There was so many endings for her which gained some replay value. Least Favorite: Tadakatsu, Ina, and Hanzo, well....everyone else explained it for me. They didn't really put out their personalities in their musou modes. Hanzo, maybe. HIs was slightly different because of his rivalry with Kotaro Fuma. Tadakatsu and Ina, however... Don't get me wrong, I like both characters. |

I'll make a top-3 list for both. Top 3-favorites musou modes: 1. Magoichi Saika [SW2] 2. Mitsuhide Akechi [SW2] 3. Musashi Miyamoto [SW2] Top 3-least favorite musou modes: 1. Nouhime [SW2] 2. Masamune Date [SW1] 3. Okuni [SW1] For me, Magoichi's story in SW2 is the best one we have ever had in the Samurai Warriors series. It starts out with Magoichi being an old friend of Hideyoshi (as demonstrated in his opening, too), fighting alongside him in the Oda army. When he must fight against the Oda army, the cutscene at the Saika village greatly demonstrates Nobunaga's cruelity and it eventually destroys their friendship due to Hideyoshi obeying his master. With nothing left, Magoichi assassinates Nobunaga (a good twist, btw), but he soon escapes from Honnoji in the misty pass of Kyoto (this stage is awesome, simply because it's so unique). Kotaro's role in the chaotic escape is also great, because it gave him a chance to spread his chaos. The best moment of his story is definately the cutscene where he refuses to join Hideyoshi's army to avenge Nobunaga's death. It is so movie-like and simply very well done. The ending after Yamazaki is really good, because it's unique as it is not an usual happy ending. Regarding the dream, well, I'm too lazy to write about that as it doesn't play a part in his main story. Mitsuhide's story is filled with loads of unique cinematics, and his personality develops as the story goes further, eventually leading to the famous betrayal. Definately one of the better ones of SW2. Musashi's story is excellent, due to having unique scenarios such as Chaos in Kyoto plus lots of unique cinematics. The Ganryujima duel is my favorite cutscene of SW2. For the least favorite musou mode characters, I can only describe these with one word: Boring. Nouhime's and Okuni's just plain sucks. Heck, even Goemon had better than Okuni. For Masamune, the dude is simply so annoying that I barely got through his story. The idea of being a third side in the battle, I just hated it (sorry Masamune fans). At least his SW2 incarnation gave a better view of his historical story. Wow, this is probably my longest post I've ever written on this forum.

My favorite Musou from Samurai Warriors had to be that of Ranmaru. A shame they removed his Musou from 2. Goemon was easily the most boring Musou for me. He just annoyed me for some reason. So did Okuni... |

To be perfectly honest, I have only played the first Samurai Warriors game, without Xtreme Legends. I'd have to say that my favorite Musou Mode was Keiji's. Not because it was particularly good but because I enjoyed just running around and knocking the stuffing out of everyone who wasn't on my side, which was pretty much all he did in his story. On the other hand, I have to say that I found Oichi's story to be kind of bland. I seriously had no idea what was going on until I went online to look it up years after playing it. Unfortunately, I had long stopped playing that game by the time I did so, so Oichi's Musou Mode remains my least favorite. |
