Ok I understand now. Since everyone is slightly unique it seems, that makes sense. But generally in these games, a UNPC is someone who is like a playable character, but not (Kojiro and Katsuie in SW2 for example for example). I guess the term NPC is a broad term for anyone who is not playable. Either way, I doubt you do, but if for some reason you did want to continue this conversation, you should probably PM me. |

Oh, there's the thread for this. I guess my eyes deceived me. Anyway, since we've now got all the designs I guess I'll do this to get it out of my system. >.> I should say in advance that I don't really really hate any of them, even though I put with low scores. They'll just take getting used to, and a lot of it. Besides, appearance isn't everything, there are still skills to look through when the game is released. 10/10 Jia Xu: Best dressed new character. Shame about the lack of blue but purple is close enough and he did work for Dong Zhuo. Ma Chao: Easily one of my favourite designs. The whole thing just screams Ma Chao the Splendid. I really like the plume and the whole gold-and-green look. Zhang Jiao: An excellent design for him. Now I can take him seriously at last. 9/10 Cao Pi: Very dashing, the best I have ever seen him looking. White, gold and blue is a very nice combination. Liu Bei: This is a much better look for him than the plainer one he sported in DW6. Again the gold and green design is awesome. Lu Bu: Even more menacing without all that armour. The black and red look suits him best. Lu Meng: Best ever. Strength, strategy and style, what more can you ask for? Meng Huo: Another favourite. It really says jungle king instead of fat moron. Sun Jian: Looks every bit the hero. I kind of wish Sun Ce had received those clothes but they look very good on him. Best Sun Jian ever. Sun Shang Xiang: Wow, a lot of these designs are my new favourites. Like the addition of the purple and the move away from her DW6 look. Zhang Liao: This look does wonders for him. He looks like the grand general he was. Zhong Hui: Does the silver armour/blue cape thing better than Zhao Yun. What's with the belt? Zhuge Dan: Wow. Very, very nice, though it might have belonged on somebody higher up the food chain. Hope he has a very prominent role in the game, the outfit alone deserves it. 8/10 Cai Wenji: She'd be higher up if it weren't for the hat. It's pretty and all but can't she leave it at home? Unless she plans on headbutting someone with it. Cao Cao: Looks pretty much how I'd expect Cao Cao to look. Very imperial, and the gold shoulderguards are great. Deng Ai: Brutal. We needed someone who looked like this I think. I'm sure he has fangirls. Dong Zhuo: He looks horrible. Of course, that is how he is supposed to look, and all the gold drives home the greed angle. Gan Ning: Very nice, looking the part of the pirate. Awesome hair. Guan Ping: A pretty solid appearance. The bright green is nice, and it suits him. He looks tougher than last time somehow, which he needed. Guo Huai: If he's supposed to be sickly, this does the job. The attire is one of the better advisor-type outfits I've seen. Liu Shan: The fur coat suits him, even if it looks a little strange. Has that pampered royal kid look to him that nobody else has quite had. Sima Shi: Thankfully has more style than his father. The armour/coat combination is effective. Sun Quan: Another handsome Sun. Now he really looks like the lord of Wu, on par with Liu Bei and Cao Cao. Taishi Ci: Looks ordinary at first glance, but it's the helmet plume that does it for me. Zhang Fei: I think this is my favourite design for him ever. It looks like something someone like him would wear, and the colour scheme is nice. 7/10 Da Qiao: Very cute design. Hard to imagine her beating up an army but we'll see. Diao Chan: Not sure how much I like this one. Might just take getting used to; at least it's seductive which is the point. Ding Feng: He frightens me, but I suppose that's the point. The fancy coat really suits him. Huang Zhong: Very nice. Nothing special to say here but the ordinary-looking clothing goes well with him. Lian Shi: I kind of like it, which surprises me because there's quite a bit of orange. Oh, and it's absurd. Ma Dai: Nice hat. Nothing really goes wrong here, and the light green/dark green/grey combination looks neat. Sima Zhao: Neat contrast to his brother, the uncovered shirt says wild child which is about right. Sun Ce: Nothing special for my favourite character but it suits him. He doesn't seem the type for heroic costumes even if I wish he dressed more like Daddy. Wang Yuanji: Can't pin down what I think is creepy about her. No problems here though. Xiahou Dun: Liking the all-blue look. One of the better designs for him, he looks all business and that is how he should be. Xiahou Yuan: Also businesslike, which is good after DW6. He looks pretty respectable again. Zhang He: Looking much better now. Though that is a lot of leather bands. 6/10 Guan Suo: No huge problem with him that I can pin down, but he just looks weird. Like he got those clothes from the future. The flower's a funny touch though. Guan Yu: Average. He looks pretty much like he always does, though that's a good thing in my book. There's really nothing special here, but nothing bad either. Huang Gai: Hopefully pants are an equippable item. Otherwise no worries, glad he is keeping his white hair. Pang Tong: Another weird one but weird works for him. I like the hat and the orange tassels. Xiahou Ba: Fairly ordinary, though the helm helps a lot. Xu Huang: Saddened by the comparative lack of blue, but it's reminiscent of his DW3 outfit which is a good thing. Yue Ying: I like the way it's going with everything but the clothes. Too bright, too bright! Zhao Yun: I like the ponytail. The armour pretty much looks like a poorer version of the set he wore last game though. Zhu Rong: Does the job. Not much to say here, but it isn't bad. 5/10 Jiang Wei: Kind of ordinary, I like that he kept some purple in there though. The legendary purple pants of Tian Shui live on! Lu Xun: I'd like it a lot more if it were't for the silly holes over the stomach. They just seem pointless. Wei Yan: The mask is all-important but this time it looks kind of silly. Nothing else wrong though. Xing Cai: Nothing special, but she looks serious this time. Not sure what that thing on her head is though. Zhen Ji: I guess it suits her. The sleeves look pretty silly though. Zhou Yu: Looks a little much like an Elf. Otherwise nothing wrong with any of this, the red on white is a nice choice. Zhuge Liang: Nothing to say about this one, he looks like he always does. 4/10 Cao Ren: I loved his previous outfit but this one seems just the opposite. The headgear is very silly and it looks like he has a shellfish attached to the front. We know you like defense, all right? Yuan Shao: Really, really preferred when he had armour. And a helmet. Zhou Tai: Meh. Really don't think a lot of this one despite not being able to find anything specifically wrong with it. 3/10 Bao Sanniang: Just looks really weird. It must be the most impractical combat attire ever, what with the fiddly scarves (would easily get tangled in her yoyo) on top of the lack of protection, and given that I don't mind Zhu Rong's clothes that is saying something. Also ick, neon green. Dian Wei: You put a bunch of armour on your shoulders and then a couple of chains over your chest? What? Nothng really stands out here besides the absurdity of it. Sima Yi: That exact shade of blue is my favourite colour, so seeing it abused so saddens me. Xu Zhu is the court clown, we don't need the genius trying to be one too. 2/10 Ling Tong: Something about this one really rubs me the wrong way. Maybe because it looks like he's on the way to a very surreal gym. Xiao Qiao: Orange is the fifth horseman of the apocalypse, and it's everywhere. If it were any other colour (particularly pink or pale green like before) this would be much higher. 1/10 Xu Zhu: Just kill me now. |

Cool, I thought so. And why not, I guess. xDD..Okay, so.. Wei Yan: He looks alright, not too bad in-game it seems, but the mask is still a little weird to me. ..Plus, there's something else.. I couldn't tell you what it is, but maybe it's because from below his chest he reminds me of someone else. o-O; Like, DW6!Guan Ping or something. ..Idk why. ![]() Pang Tong: o___o;;; Something about him is seriously starting to freak me out. I know I'll get over it, but until then.. The design is kinda disappointing - I don't like some of the colours on it like the striped gray sleeves at the front, and the random orange isn't a good sort of random. I think his new look will grow on me, though.. Maybe it's because he looks human this time and not like a moth is the reason it's a shock as well. ![]() One thing that really is a bit disturbing is his skin (tone), actually. o.o;; It might just be the lighting in that CG art, but especially in that picture of him beside his name in the screenshots he looks.. undead! But yes. Moving on. xD;; Huang Gai: My opinion of him hasn't really changed - it's a fairly good look for him, except.. those THIGHS. Seriously. Just.. no. Too much..Gan Ning: Still not hugely convinced by the hair, but other than that I like his DW7 design. ![]() Diao Chan: Okay.. Not a big fan of this design. Some parts are nice, but other parts of her outfit are too dark - I don't think it works. Don't like how they've changed her face, and her hair colour was fine the way it was! She's way too pale as well.. But this is all just my opinion, of course. I can actually live with this new look, I just think it isn't really an improvement from DW6 (or even 5).Xu Huang: I like! I have to admit I wasn't fond of the turban he used to wear, but it does work; the whole outfit goes really well. Every colour used in it is used to great effect. ..And it's strange, his face and expressions look almost.. softer this time. I don't mean that in a derogotary way, it's just an observation (however mistaken I may be). xD

Xu Huang has always looked fairly mellow, but in prior games he simply looked kinda bored maybe even slightly sad, in this one he seems somewhat, I dunno, content looking. A slight smile. Maybe its meant to be in contrast to Kenshin, who has a similar look but always seems to be sporting a bit of a scowl on his face. I lol'd:

Yes, that's true. And since it's a happy sort of mellow this time that's probably why it's more noticeable now. Kenshin doesn't come to mind too much for me when I see Xu Huang's design, but certainly to have that contrast does help anyway. Actually, imo it helps to differentiate him from his fellow Wei officers as well - he's the only one I can think of that has that distinct inner peace about him. ![]() I lol'd too - poor Xu Huang xD Well, at least he seems to be a bit happier this time around.

Xu Huang: His body is fine, quite good robe with gold trim, shoulder pads are ok, nice belt and trousers. It is the head, it seems unusual to me. Not a fan of all covering headgear or the face but time may make it less strange. Wei Yan: Again, good body, not so sure about the face. Nice patten on shoulder and on top of boots, overall the body is fine, suitable to the man but without being particularly notable. The angry mouth, the ugly mask and something about his neck puts me off. Gan Ning: Come hither eyes? Excuse me while I grab a fan. Love the tattoo's across the shoulders and chest, nice armguards, bells a bit too big for my taste, nice trousers (flare a bit too much) and lovely boots. Not a fan of the thing around his neck and urgh to the hair. Huang Gai: Whoa, those are massive legs. Boots would look bettter if legs were thinner, not a fan of the ponytail but it has pulled back a bit from his appearance in DW5 so grateful. Was not a fan of the style of his appearance anyway but clothing is decent, would lengthen shorts or whatever they are. Pang Tong: Something feels rather off, almost as if he looks a little serious and well groomed. Maybe something to do with the hat? Nice patterns and like the green things on the edge of the sleeves. Diao Chan: Red hair is an intresting change and looks more seductive then courtly dancer of old, are we to see a change? Colour scheme is not my thing but dress, bit too much skin on the sides aside, does look nice and has pretty patterns. The jewellery and armbands are a nice touch. Quite like it. |

Gan Ning - I actually like it. Its good that he's shirtless again and the trousers are cool and I think long hair suits him. It'll be difficult to choose between this and DW5. Huang Gai - Its ok but the hot pants are throwing me off. ![]() Diao Chan - I really like her hair as well as the colour scheme but the bottom half of the dress is too big and poofy the top half is really good. Hard to choose between this and DW6. Wei Yan - The outfit from the neck down is awesome his best one yet but the mask is going to take some getting used to. Pang Tong - Its better than DW6 but nothing beats his DW4 outfit. Xu Huang - Its ok but I may be the only one but I prefer his DW6 outfit. |

If Gan Ning doesn't go super-saiyan during his character-exclusive Musou attack, I'll be disappointed Meh, either way, I still probably won't care for him :pHuang Gai: DEM HOTPANTS! Actually, apart from DEM HOTPANTS, he looks fine. I suppose that, technically, there's nothing wrong with showing off your giant, chiseled thighs...:/ Xu Huang: My favourite of the bunch. Now, all he needs is a personality and we're getting somewhere The lack of blue/purple is a shame, but otherwise, it's a great outfit, and one where the turban doesn't look out of place for once.Wei Yan: I'm not sure whether I like the mask or not. It's definitely unique though, I guess. The rest of his design seems about right though. Pang Tong: Looks way better than the whole "I'm a moth" thing he's had going for a while. Diao Chan: Everyone knew she'd be showing off some skin, I don't know why people are complaining about it. Anyways, she looks fine, will take a little getting used too though. |

I actually like Gan Ning's hair. KOEI kept the spikey look he's had since DW3, and I think it adds to his overall "I don't give a damn" appearance. The rest of the group looks great in my opinion, although I do wish they'd slim Xu Zhu down a bit. He can be a tank without looking like a tub. |

Now that I think of it, remember how characters looked a lot different back in DW4 and 5? Well what's going to happen with Meng Huo? Is he going to be fat again with the costume? And what about Liu Bei's mustache, and Sun Quan's beard? |

kk lets start Pang Tong-Okay, looks a bit like an old bamboo salesman, not too sure. Wei Yan- The problem with most outfits is their plain-ness and boringness, this is a prime example. Xu Huang- Nice to see him revert to DW3 like appearance but prefer a bit more blue. Gan Ning- Cool, nipple-less, but cool Huang Gai- Not sure about the short-shorts but quite good. Like orange Diao Chan- Purple Hair? Gothic, but quite like it. |

i see what you mean now. The panties, when i first saw the strange tassled trousers, it looked like he was wearing pant like shorts underneath. The bra though, a half chestplate with nothing underneath? Dunno about that, but mostly i judge it first and go back and realize that it is actually ok But cometo think of it, combine Lu Bu's chestplate and Huang Gai's Hotpants, ur pretty much there |

Xu Huang - absolutely love it. Simple, rustic, and somehow is able to stay grand when most of the design is comprised of white cloths and blue-toned armor. The shoulder guards are unique, and so are the belt/sash/holding thing. Clever move with his right arm's sleeve being tucked into his armguard while his left isn't. One of the best redesigns. Why doesn't he have a cinematic screen? It's strange: you'd expect him and Xiahou Ba to have more major roles. Huang Gai - "The second scariest face in Wu" - his shorts shocked me for the first three seconds. Not among the best reduxes but does well. The palette is A+, mixing fiery and earthy colors, and his upper body overall is cool. KOEI brought back the white, aged hair which is awesome to pair Huang Gai with Sun Jian. Can't see this past being an alternate costume, though, so I'm probably going to use his DW6 costume half the time. He'd be the only warrior with enough cahones to come to battle wearing swimming shorts and sandals. Even then, who would mess with Huang Gai? Anyone who would has obviously not seen a.) his giant anchor b.) his angry face. Is it me or has he gotten a lot tanner? Gan Ning - orange lips? Would get an A if it wasn't for the hair. Unlike what I previously had though judging from the blurry screenshots, it's not that off-putting. See it in use in his cutscene screenshot. Uses the majority the colors from Wu -- red, orange, black, white, purple, and yellow. The small touches of the more obscure colors is nice as is the boot + pants design, I'm amazed at how much detail KOEI put into making the tatoos. His lack of nipples annoys me, but the earrings make up for it. Wei Yan - really don't like his posture. Not much to say about it, but it's good we're getting to see his face again. I think the blinded skull as his shoulderguard is cool, but needs to protrude more. There's a reference to his historical/novel counterpart with the horns, but generally his mask seems too abstract to appreciate. Huge arms, they're as frightening as Huang Gai's thighs. Pang Tong - not sure with the theme the design team was trying to go with, but not bad. The trim is nice, so are the sleeves and how they did his long, flowing mask. Shweet pants. Diao Chan - ugly colors, and so I'll definitely be using previous renditions of her costume. The first thing I noticed was that she is definitely a lot more petite. Her shoulders, her body, her hips -- thus the size of her head seems much larger. Just, to say it simply, she has an awkward body. It's very distracting. The exposed sides aren't aesthetically appealing in the render, but they're better with the screenshots. I do like the jewelry, the dangling diamond-shaped things at the bottom of her skirt, and what substitutes as her sleeves. Edited by Bamboo, Sun Mar 6, 2011 4:38 am.

I love Diao Chan's design. Her and Sun Shang Xiang look great. I love that she's got a darker appearance but you can still see by her face that she's still mellow and kind. The Arabian look is awesome. I like this Diao Chan a lot. I mean, even the kindest of souls can darken when they're involved with people like Dong Zhou and Lu Bu. SSX's look is clean and sporty. I like that she's got that heroic appearance. She looks like she wants to make a name for herself and live up to her family's expectations. Epic. <3 |

Cute character on the belt too - that's part of his name in traditional Chinese, right?
And why not, I guess. xDD
I couldn't tell you what it is, but maybe it's because from below his chest he reminds me of someone else. o-O; Like, DW6!Guan Ping or something. ..Idk why.

She's way too pale as well.. But this is all just my opinion, of course. I can actually live with this new look, I just think it isn't really an improvement from DW6 (or even 5).
The lack of blue/purple is a shame, but otherwise, it's a great outfit, and one where the turban doesn't look out of place for once.
And with the panties comment, I don't understand where that came from.
