As long as they add Zhao Yun's old DW6 outfit as an unlockable costume I'm good... I really liked that one. I'm not too much for the new one really...

I don't like Cao Pi's new look. This mask-thing is just wrong. I liked him in DW5 when he first appeared, I realy did.

The rest looks alright, though I wished the Wu people would stop to dress up like this. Zhou Tai is the only one of them who looks like a serious guy, not some kind of circus performer.
I realy wonder who this new Wei guy is. I think it would be time for Cao Hong to show up as a playable charakter but that's obviously not him. At least I don't think so.
I agree with point where you said Cao Pi look good in Wei DW5, but Wu character are cool... So I disagree with that point when you said they look like Circus Performer^_^

I'll second to this... :) but I do hope Zhao Yun's full design would be better or I'll be quite disappointed with it.

Cao Pi: Looks fantastic, he really does, love the detail

Xing Cai/Shu Lady: Like the tattoo and the gloves, again some nice detail, the odd leg wear amuses me and that's the best I can say about it. Think the hairstyle is ugly and the costume... just doesn't look good for me, why just a bikini top and some shorts? It lacks something

Cao Zhang/new guy: Robe looks nice, character model itself isn't one that particularly stands out

Zhen Ji: What is it with Zhen Ji/Koei and showing off her belly recently? I loved her old classy dresses, not sure why they have steered away from that of late. She does look very pretty and love what clothing she has, it looks fantastic but would be happier if they lengthen the skirt and show less belly.

I think the New Shu girl is original. Worse still, frankly, his complexion is so pale it. It's almost the same as Zhen Ji. What gives you that impression, mostly because she is scantily clad and therefore, we see a lot about yourself.

Well, that new Shu girl should have a good alternate costume (if they'll even gonna be doing it). I quite don't like the costume...

I don't like the Shu girl at all, something feels off about her to me...

I wanna see Xiao Qiao instead!

Zhen Ji is okay.

Sorry to hand it to ya but... That's not original. Kunoichi looks that way, so if that's so then she's just a recolored Kunoichi and that isn't original at all...

And I can't help but feel bothered that some people seem to want Dynasty Warriors to be Samurai Warriorsified. :S

He's just asking for why exactly you like it. There's no need to be all defensive about it.

Zhao Yun - not too bad. The only thing I can't get past is how exposed the ears are, but otherwise it's good derivation from the DW6 costume which was my favorite. Hope they keep the DW6 one as an alternate.

My apologies then. It was probably the translation that made it look so angry.

On-topic. It's clear now that though some items from the historical side of things can still be in the various models of characters, but overall DW7 will continue DW6's highly-stylized take on costumes. It's somewhat disappointing as I'd like to see more emphasis on nonfantasy clothing, but oh well.

Zhen Ji's final look is a little disappointing. From the head shot I was expecting something a little more classy. I don't hate it, but I definitely prefer her look in 6.

Of the designs so far I like the new Wei guy best. Can't wait to find out who he is and what he fights with.

Not really feeling Zhao Yun's design. The armour itself is fine, I have no problem with it, but the hair, it's just horrendous. I know, we've all been over this before, but It just looks so awful I can't get over it. Also, maybe it's just the way the face is positioned, but it doesn't look like it fits, it looks pasted on with Photoshop or something, and his slender face for some reason, clashes with his bulkier body.

I'm worried what Gan Ning will look like. They look like they're sticking to the DW6 designs fairly closely, and making the already 'bishounen' looking males look even girlier. I can't imagine how down right girly Gan Ning will look if he gets this treatment as well.

Also, anyone else think that while you play as Zhen Ji or Green Girl, that they should gradually devellop an intense sunburn?

Agreed on the hair, for sure. I don't know... I think it'd look better if it were closer to the low ponytail he's had in the past.

And I think you just pointed out exactly why I'm not super crazy about Zhao Yun's new design - the slender face and buff as heck body. I knew something felt odd about his design to me and that's exactly what it is.

Aside from those two details, not sure how I'm feeling on Zhao Yun's overall design. I think it's a step up from his DW6 one, but it hasn't won me over quite yet. Not a big fan of the breastplate-looking pieces. I think if it wasn't for these three details, I would really like it. It may grow on me though.

I've already posted my opinions on the other fully revealed characters in the main thread, but I'll quickly restate them here.

Cao Pi - Don't love the hair or the odd mask thing right now. However, the rest of his outfit is awesome.

Zhen Ji - She just looks trashy to me now. The face shot of her made it look like she was going to have a gorgeous and classy outfit that suited her well. But I'm not loving her full look so much... those leggings(?) are awful and I feel like she should be wearing more for some reason...

New Shu Character - Ugh. I thought that, even though her face is really annoyingly anime-esque, her outfit would be pretty cool. I do dig the tribal look, but her outfit just doesn't seem to fit for some reason. I think her outfit had potential, but I'm not liking the end result.

New Wei Character - He has my favorite look out of everyone so far, face aside. Love his clothes and I'd actually be alright if he has a Keiji-like personality because Keiji is awesome. I just don't like his face at this point.

I realize I'm probably kind of nit-picky, but I can't deny I'm disappointed so far. Still feeling a bit nervous for other characters, especially SSX, Yue Ying and Diao Chan after how revealing Zhen Ji and the new Shu girl are dressing.

I think noone's holding weapons because you get to choose either what weapons they use or you can customize their moveset with the given weapon.

New Wei dude: Costume's a little generic, really don't like the shoes. Looks OK otherwise.

New Shu girl: Seems quite alright, the unsymmetrical costume looks fine. Green artificial eyebrows looked a little weird.

'Cao Pi': Seems a little more sinister than before. Has that aristocrat look that commands some kind of respect. Expecting a magic-heavy moveset, not unlike the Kuroda Kanbei one in SW3. Again, really don't like the shoes.

Zhen Ji: Bayonetta? Still not used to the leggings/pants and fishnet thingy. The peacock 'tails' do look kinda nice though.

Zhao Yun: Looks OK, but prefer the badass armour from DW6. Don't like the hair. Really, Ina look-alike.

I won't share my opinion on every new design also because it's the general style of the game that concerns me more.
I was thinking that, at least from what we have seen so far, the general style conveys a "non-traditional" feel which isn't what I hoped for. I still love the perfect mix between "ancient Chinese" style and modern-martial-videogame style that are the DW4 designs.

I doubt it... Customizing their moveset is to much to ask for.
Choosing what weapon they use I doubt as well, as some of them are historically known for their weapons, and the game is based of ROTK so the plot is at least TRYING to stay historical to some extent. And I doubt the weapons change, I think they're just showing off outfits for now.

Wishful thinking is nice though.

Posted this in the main thread, but there's so many people posting there, I can't keep up with what people are saying lol.

Wei dude: Somehow ended up as my favourite of the currently revealed :s I can't imagine him fighting with a sword/spear/a standard weapon of any sort. Perhaps only because of the pose in that pic, but he looks like he'd use his bare hands to fight. I'm pretty sure this dude is Cao Zhang...

Shu girl:
I don't know why I like her, I just do :/ Pale Skin+ Bright green looks wierd, but she somehow pulls it off imo. I like her scarf too :3 Could be...Mei Sanniang? I dunno lol. And wow, she DOES look like Rikku :o

Cao Pi:
What faichaim0nd said - I don't really have a problem with his shoes though...

Zhen Ji: I love it. Really diggin the peacock theme. Her belly's a smidge elongated, but so is Shu Girl's. It's more noticeable with Zhen because of how her robe thingy covers her hips+her straight pose. I presume every female in this game will be like this though, so it shouldn't be too noticeable after a while. Also, people are complaining that she's showing off too much skin. I thought this at first too, but then I remembered that she has to compensate for the lack of females on the wei side  (even though Cai Wenji should be in too now...)

Zhao Yun: I've never payed any attention to Zhao Yun, but yeah, he looks more feminine than ever here, imo. And not just because of the pony tail. I prefer it to his DW6 costume though, I guess.

Agreed on both counts. The Dynasty Warriors aesthetic used to give an overall impression of period-influenced serious business, and I absolutely loved that. I was hoping for a next-gen return to that whole concept of classic garments with modern detail and design liberties, but it looks like we'll be getting a mixed bag once again. Zhao Yun and Cao Pi represent the sort of DW7 costumes I'd have preferred to see on everyone.

Interesting that you bring up DW4, as it exemplifies my disappointment with the new characters. DW4 gave us Yue Ying, Cao Ren, and Zhou Tai - iconic adds who each brought unique depth and weight to the Three Kingdoms setting.

I only found this promotional picture just recently, long after I'd gotten to know all three characters. It still struck me with the presence and individuality shown in their portrayals.

Posted Image

My first reaction to the DW7 newbies was to hope they were CAW system defaults. The new guy at least has some period influence in his outfit, but I would have never guessed the new girl as a Dynasty Warrior if she were shown to me without any description. I would have pegged her as the obligatory cutesy girl in some JRPG.

I'm aware that we haven't played the new characters or heard them talk in cut scenes. Perhaps they'll be more interesting to me in context. But the visuals are so important to the characters' overall presentation, and visuals serve as a point of comparison to some Dynasty Warriors adds who were done incredibly well.
