These are two completely different kinds of games. Fist of the North Star: Ken's Rage is a beat' em up while Sengoku Musou 3 is a hack 'n slash game. I don't understand why people continue to connect the Hokuto game with KOEI's hack 'n series because the gameplay is not the same and has a different kind of audience much like the Gundam series. I guess the "Musou" in the title gave people the idea that game was going to be similar to Samurai Warriors.

Well I'm glad to know that I'm not the only one who ponders why people feel the need to do that? As far as Hokuto Musou goes? Sure, the game was definitely at a slower pace, and much more difficult then most of Koei's games. But I feel that Hokuto Musou hands down had the most robust combat system, I have ever seen in any Koei game to date. It was really impossible to feel as if that game got repetitive in any way, shape, or form.

I wouldn't advise playing Fist of the North Star after Sengoku Basara, the change in pace is unbelievable, and I don't mean it in a good way.
I wouldn't recommend playing ANYTHING after playing SB3... it makes even a racing game seem hellishly slow.

I said it LOOKED like crap. Then I played and its solid. I just find the stages SUPER repetitive. Yes I know its keeping true to the anime but who cares, throw in a jungle or lake or something.

The combos are fun but ya Basara is aewsome in gameplay. It gets super repetitive too though since only 4 characters have real stories, the rest are just cut and paste.

Troy......well it just doesnt look fun

Hope SW3Z is faster now with the 60fps

We probably won't find out about the game releasing overseas until it comes out in Japan. If there are strong PS3 sales numbers there, then we might get it for sure.
Ya, but SW3 is going to come out for PS3 in Japan, so I'm guessing it may come to the US\Europe if we never get 3Z
Anyhow back on topic it has not even came out in Japan yet, so as Jsun said if it get good ratings in Japan it will most likely come to Us\ Europe

Do you think stories in Sengoku Basara are overall better than SW3? I'd like to know since I might be getting the game...

Well I think Tiger Gamo should be a new female character in Samurai Warriors 4,becase she is One of Ujisato Gamo's younger sisters and Ieyasu's aunt, and also I made a design for her ^.^

I think at first I thought so...Masamune, Ieyasy, Yukiamru, and Mitsuanri's are really good.

The rest are generic. You fight the same battles pretty much and no unique dialogs....

All though the alternate stories after you beat it are decent and unique in a small way.

Gameplay and graphics SB3
Story and character develpoment SW3

But with SW3Z I think the speed will help alot :)

SB3
Pros: fast-paced gameplay, good graphic, alternate stories kinda interesting
Cons: gameplay gets repetitive fast, same stages used almost for every character

Haven't played SW3 personally (don't have a wii) but people said it's boring because of the speed the game runs at. However SW3 story and characters are more interesting (at least for me). I hope SW3Z gets localized in English, or in worst case scenario we'll get at least an international version like they did for Hokuto Musou (HM: International has English voice option).

TBH, if your a fan of SW first, chances are you'll prefer SW3, because when playing SB3 you'll just end up comparing everything to SW, and I think that kills a lot of the game. I've seen a couple people IRL do this with SB3, and LOADS on here, then again, lots of people end up liking SB3 better so it's obviously, better for you to just make your own decision.

Anyway, gameplaywise, SB3 gives you -around- the same amount of options of attacks to use, so to say one gets repetitive and the other doesn't is absolute bull, both are repetitive, that is the nature of videogames. Yes same stages used for every character, same can be said for SW, theres only so many levels (admittedly, SB3 levels give you less options in some instances). SB3's levels are very linear, less linear than past games so fans can appreciate that, but if you compare it to SW you'll just get annoyed by it.

I think it could be hard to appreciate some of the stories unless your a longtime fan of the characters. Take what Donthate said about the stories, for me, Masamune and Yukimura's stories sucked big time, and excluding Tsuru, Mototchika and Kotaro, all the rest of the stories were really great for me. Even then, alternate paths made up for a few crappy stories.

Anyway, I'm not meaning to compare the two games, moreso countering some things said here to give a different perspective. /spamspamspamspam

Well, I don't care too much if this game doesn't come to NA, it just means there will be more new characters for me to try out.

I have both Sengoku Basara 3 (PS3) and Samurai Warriors 3 (Wii) and I just see them as two different games. I really do not compare the two since the play style is different. SB 3 is very fast paced and SW3 is slower paced. I enjoyed both games to be honest.

As long as there's replay value as well, like in XL:2 where you had Survival, Mercenary Mode, Story and even that Sugorukou(sp?) game.

Upon reflection, I will not buy Samurai Warriors 3 Z since its release in Japan. For the simple reason that I prefer to wait and see if it will be located in the US/Europe. I would hate to buy the same game twice.

Smart move. And if, by chance, they decide not to release it overseas, you can still see about finding a copy in Japanese if you need to.

Which may not be too hard, cause don't the Japanese love to get these (hack n' slash semi-historical in a slight way) games? I'm saying that in reflection of the not so cheery news of the state of a western SW3Z.
