The thing that makes me doubt any more new characters is that it says there's 10 new stories. With these 3 playables and the 7 free mode characters it adds up perfectly. The only way there would be a new character is if one of the free mode guys... stays free mode only.

What about Musashi and Kojiro being added as FMO characters? It could make sense since technically they have little relevance to the story of other characters.

It's ironic that everything I wanted Gracia to look like, Aya looks like.

I suggested Gracia to wear a hooded cloak, and have a staff as weapon. This was waaayyyy before SW3 was even released.

Anyways, I'm pretty sure new characters will be released. That's the tradition of the Samurai Warriors series. Kind of.

People tend to forget that MOZ was actually planned for the Western markets but was canned for some reasons that had been discussed before so I'm not gonna go there again. SW3Z is different. The PS3 and Xbox 360 never got SW3 so I don't see why Koei wouldn't release SW3Z outside Japan.

Glad to know all FMO (in which most of them are from Oda clan) are finally given a story of their own. Want to know if Koei can pull another simultaneous release for this game? :sly:
There's still SCEA (and Microsoft, too, if they factor in) themselves to consider. One of the main reasons MOZ was not released over here (if not possibly THE main reason), was because SCEA was not willing to allow Koei to release what was basically a compilation of updated/upscaled PS2 games for full price. Koei, obviously, did not see eye-to-eye with having to settle for budget pricing.

SM3Z may be operating under different circumstances, but a lot of the former case still does apply. SCEA or MS may not exactly be moved by what basically boils down to "last year's Wii game with a few extras". So it's not just a matter of what Koei will or won't do.
Yeah, I know the reasons but like I said SW3Z is different. MOZ was a compilation of PS2/xbox360 games with extra stuff for the PS3. So Sony saw little incentive to release it for their HD console when Warriors Orochi isn't that popular in the West either. SW3Z on the other hand is first new SW game to hit PS3/xbox360 even if it's just an upgraded version of SW3. So SW3Z has more potential of selling in great numbers than MOZ. I don't see why Sony/Microsoft would object that.
Again, though, you have to see it from a larger scope.

We're talking about a product that, at best, would stand to be released in the West any where between 6-12 months after the original Wii release, assuming everything goes smoothly. Said game would then likely get lost amongst the shuffle of, if nothing else, OTHER upcoming Koei releases like DW7, Trinity: ZOI and DW:G3.

Such a thing works out fine in Japan, because Musou games still do sell well in Japan. As we all know, such does not apply else where. It's going to be harder to champion a cause for something like SM3Z in the West, when even the majority of Koei's own fan base will likely not care as much about an "update of an older game" when they have newer and shinier games like DW7 that will command their attention (as well as their cash).

So, I'm thinking, even if nothing relating to Nintendo stands in Koei's way, they may either have Sony/MS or even their own marketing teams that may give them pause when it comes to considering releasing SM3Z in the West. Because again, Koei probably realizes that they can't expect to bombard American audiences with continuous Musou releases and expect positive results. They'll want to focus attention on the likes of DW7 as much as possible.

Oh wow, KOEI is just overloading me with good news lately. Zhuge Dan for DW7, SW3 for PS3 and 4/online co/op for DWG3.

Awesome.

I'm overjoyed to hear it !! Even if it won't make it to the West, I guess, I'll try to import.
I remember, that back in the time when SW 3 for Wii was announced, many people were saying, that KOEI will port it to PS3 sooner or later. And when I lost all my hope for that to happened...
Thank you KOEI. Thank you.

just as expected from the very begining. Still glad to see it coming however. I just hope the Ps3 will make to Europe, or Maybe I'll just take XL on Wii, don't know yet. Those who claimed that it would NEVER come to PS3/360 were wrong,it was to be expected with Koei.
It is quite fun: I wanted to play SW3 for the first time in 2 months today, while my wii was updating I checked KW and saw the news...
This, DW7, My Koei excitement, whici was quite low for several weeks has just upgraded to higher than ever!!!
Today begins well!!!!

Thanks for the pic superDioplus. She looks good in this. This has been an epic famitsu for Musou gaming news. I'm currently in Musou overkill ... and LOVING it :hehe: !

BASARA 3, Hokuto, SM3Z, DW7 = bisonyesh.jpeg

Not to mention that DW7 FINALLY spurned me into trying out the DW side of the Musou equation (never cared for Sangokushi, as I'm more of a Sengoku Jidai fan + I've been told that the Sengoku games were the better ones). Thus, I have been / will be speedrunning through a bunch of old DW games to get acquainted with the story and all the different characters (current plan is to do 4's Kingdom Mode, 4 XL's Legend stages, 5's story modes, and 6's story modes). Lastly, I might pick up Strikeforce on PS3 or 360 w/ the Gamefly sale (should be worth $13 ... tho IDK which version to get *headscratch*).

It's a good thing I hate all things Gundam, or else that would be even yet another Musou game to suck up all my free time with  .

----

Anyways more on topic. I mentioned previously about my only disappointments with the normal SW3. I love the game, characters, and stories. Basically my only major cons are:
- Horrible framerate / slowed down gameplay (This is extremely noticeable when going from any other Musou game right to SW3)
- Weapon / Skill system sucks (Needs customization and return of Resilience and other useful skills!)
- Random Elemental Damage System sucks. (Needs to have the SW2 elemental attack style back, tho don't nerf Demon element again like in 2XL).
- Most of the stages use the same maps (Only about 20 unique in total)
- Online only for Murasame Castle, the crappiest mode in the whole Sengoku Musou series!

With the jump to PS3 hopefully that means it will have a more fluid / sped up framerate. If what I've read is correct then it seems like the weapon system will be customizable again like in SW2XL. They will have to get rid of Murasame mode in Z, thus removing that dreck from the game and replacing it with new modes which should breath life into the game's replayability (I loved going through SW2XL's Mercenaries and Survival modes to level up characters / get Orbs). Overall, I'd have to say things are looking really good for this game and I am very excited. I just hope the new stories are as good as the current ones, because I really loved a bunch of the stuff they did in 3 story wise.

I don`t think this 3 it`s all that we`ll get. Swordsmen should back also and who knows maybe Goemon Ishikawa we see too. 6 characters in total, and no one cutting... how much I want it. (45 characters!)

so no 360 release huh?

why do koei hate me so much :(

nothing against any other console but samurai warriors has always been my xbox360 game, but SW3 is being released on everything except 360.

a PSP release will just shatter my dream.

Could just be another DW7 situation and get a 360 release internationally. I'd say just wait a while and see if it gets announced for US/PAL release and if so, if they add 360 as well.

I say it would be just like Eng versions of SW3, which is still Wii exclusive. So the pattern is forseeable.

So the rumours were true but SW3Z? i have hope but not a lot of hope that this will be overseas of course they can make another contraversial decison like DW7 and cause fans to rage or they can just get straight to the point and say who's getting what instead of stalling.

All i want to know is this:

Is it coming out overseas?
Will it be for Xbox 360 as well?

if it's neither KOEI have totally screwed me over being ever able to touch the SW3 series but i shall wait and see as i have a small grain of hope that they will put more smiles on people's faces than less ;)

I am vindicated, I was correct in 90% of my predictions about SW3 import to PS3. Check out my earlier post in the topic Will there be Samurai Warriors 3 for PS3/360? in tne ends of the fourth and fifth pages.

Excited to see Gracia back, even if I never was able to get a good hold on her moveset.

My wish would be for Musashi, one of my favorite SW characters, to return with Kojiro also, but I am not getting my hopes up. Honestly though, having 10 new stories is really good enough for me. As long as they have depth, that is. :p

Still don't have the actual SW3 game, but that's because I was holding off just in case there would be a port. Now, if it makes it overseas then I'm definitely going for SW3Z.

i doubt that musashi or kojiro are back because if you look at the character select screen that gracia is in musashi is not between kotaro and toshiie and kojiro is not between gracia and katsuie

They are both present in the game Toshiie Maeda had no musou mode in Samurai Warriors 3, but find one in this extension as the other 6 characters.

I fear we have no new characters or the return of the 2 Swordman's, I find it annoying... :/
