I thought about importing. But damn...that's expensive. Too expensive for a game i really didn't enjoy the first time around. o.O

Found that out through the magic of gamefaqs, actually. It's in Original Career Mode

Not all that hard, just a bit time-consuming.

Here's the guide I'm using for it, anyway: Link

But Samurai Warriors 3 has NO waggling, flailing, whatsover. You just pick up the controller and go.

Now Samurai Warriors Katana? THAT requires a bit more movement.

Probably, though the question of whether or not it will be PS3 only, Wii only, or both would be up in the air.

Oh, and also, if it will even come outside of Japan.

I really hope they do release an Empires as well as overseas, the one for SW2 was great... till XL made it feel obsolete for me...

I'm ambivalent to what console it lands on as I have both a PS3 and Wii... just so long as Koei doesn't make it as disappointing as DW6:E...

On another note, I just picked up SW:Z from a local store today and... it's satisfying to say the least...

well just import sw3z like i did and you'll still enjoy sw3 in a way.. :P
That's not the solution for all.
Some people just can't enjoy a game on japanese when they don't understand a thing.
I can't understand how people doesn't care about don't really understanding what the characters are saying, it would make the following of the story for me impossible. Also the menus and the weapons and the tasks you get are all in japanese so... I don't see the point in importing unless you don't care about story much or understand japanese.
Sorry if this sounds cruel, I didn't want to offend you, but I've heard so much that people are going to import this game and never heard an opinion like mine, I wanted to share it. ;)

OT:
I'm not totally hopeless yet, but it seems that it would be the time to give up hopes for an overseas realease now. :/ I don't expect Koei changing their minds, but I would highly appreciate it.

I understand your sympathies as I was for the most part reluctant to get the game as I would with my lacklustre Japanese be unable to enjoy the story for the most part and it does cripple the game...
It was my older brother who made the final call on buying SW:Z as he wanted to enjoy the game in a more complete form and so we bought it and yes, I do enjoy the graphical upgrade and the gameplay is fairly smooth... but I can't fully enjoy the game... my fault I suppose...

It's understandable that you want the game just to enjoy gameplay and graphics, if I'd have the opportunity to play SW3Z on japanese just for the gameplay's sake, I would do it immediately. But the problem is that importing also is very expensive and for me it's just not worth the money. Especially in Samurai Warriors series, the story was always so lovingly developed, I could not play the game when I have to give this up.
Anyhow, I hope you still have fun with the game. :)
Until now, there might be a little little chance that we'll get the game... and if not, I'll hope there will be an SW4 for Ps3.

I'm just waiting a few months to import the game. I still have some hope of KOEI suddenly launch the game in the West.

It's not getting localized. While KOEI hasn't come out and officially confirmed it through a press release or an announcement, there are no actual plans to bring it overseas. Very much the same way DWSF2 was handled.

A KOEI employee (Ex I assume now) that worked on the English localization team apparently leaked and confirmed that SW3Z was not being localized back in February on an online forum along with other details that ended up becoming true. He quickly tried to delete/edit his posts once people were on to him. Some of the remnants are still visible through other people's quotes of his posts.

Noonsa (leaker)

In case anyone is wondering and waiting, SW3Z is not being localized. The new (old?) president is really cutting costs across the board.

The April Fools joke was based on speculation though and since the game was never announced for an overseas release, it could not have actually been canceled.

This is the reason why I hated that April Fools joke.

No, they're not leaving. They just released two games last month and they're releasing more this month and months after that, too.

I don't see KOEI pulling out of the Western market entirely. However, it is possible they decided to cut back significantly. The Warriors franchise do better than anything else they try to give us, Troy, Zill O'll, and that other game didn't do so hot, after all. So if anything I can see we would only get Dynasty, Samurai, and Gundam from now on. Pure speculation of course, as we may have already lot out on Samurai Warriors.

I can understand if they're cutting back on the western market releases, but seriously, SW3Z/XL NOT getting brought over is still sad; it's a Warriors title. Heck GUNDAM is getting over just fine.

Well, Gundam also didn't have a version on the Wii and doesn't have to go through being localized twice, all for little reward on Koei's part.

Sure, a lot of us WOULD have bought the PS3 or 360 version, but the shitty sales of the original Wii version were enough to slam the 'no-go' hammer down on any thought of localizing this game in the first place.

KOEI has also partnered with Namco Bandai for the Gundam games and there's a larger fan base for Gundam in the West than the SW series.

They're not going to cut down significantly on releasing games to the western market, but there's a good chance we won't see a few musou titles. KOEI is mainly relying on the Ninja Gaiden series and Dead or Alive for the west. Those are their only two game series that generate a favorable amount of sales in the west.

But is there still any chance we'll get SW3:XL? I'm worried the only 'expansion' we'll receive is the Chronicles version.

No SW3:XL either. Unfortunately, Chronicles will probably be the last SW3 title.

It sucks, but you can't really do much about it. The company isn't in the best place financially right now.
