Is there an Asian version of SW3Z that has English subtitles? I've been reading about games coming from this region that had this feature (I think FF Dissidia Duodecim had it? Or was that the language?).

I'm sceptic about SW4 getting revealed in the same year that SW3 Empires is....

If it is however, I hope the devs don't go overboard on character adds (or cuts <_< ), and instead focus on improving the gameplay to make SW finally make that next step.
Nope. It's in complete Japanese.

Guys, what's the difference between the Asian and Japanese version of this game? I was browsing on PlayAsia deciding which one to buy. The Japanese one is more expensive going at around 87-ish dollars while the Asian version is going for 72-ish (this is with postage and handling).

Is the quality the same for both games? Is PlayAsia even reliable? Any worthwhile answers are appreciated :

Also if I get the Asian version, will the text be in Japanese or Chinese? If it's the latter, are there any Chinese translation guides in existence?

I can't help you with the Japanese vs. Asia versions, but I will say that I've ordered from PlayAsia before and they are quite reliable. I have yet to have a negative experience ordering from them.

Would people say that this game is worth importing even if you don't understand Japanese? I'm trying to figure out whether or not I want to order it myself...

I just imported the Japanese version off Ebay, which was quite cheap £46 which includes shipping + tax, because I didn't know then there would be a Chinese version. But there's no real difference other than the text which is in their respective language, you'll get Simplified Chinese if you ordered the Mainland version. The VA will remain the same as the Japanese, though. (Although if you mean Asian version, you'll probably get the options of Korean/Taiwanese/Chinese text, I'm not sure though)

As for guides, I haven't seen many translation guides although I did find this useful Japanese one http://www.gamefaqs.com/ps3/611495-sengoku-musou-3-z/faqs/62322 Unfortunately as I said, they're few (at least, from what I can find) and I cannot find any subbed videos on Youtube or Youku unless I'm typing it wrong. (Baidu might be worth trying too)

edit: To the above poster;

Well, at first I was like you, "no I don't want to", but after seeing more videos I just gave in and looked on Ebay, there was some cheap prices and shipping is quite quick. The game is sort of easy to understand as they do have some English text in the menus. The only bit you'll have problem is during dialogue and cutscenes but they aren't really important as most of the objectives is 'kill officer X'

If you've played the original SW3 it'll help alot in terms of navigating the menus but as I said, there is some English text. :)

Coolness thanks guys :)

So overall which games would you propose I get? The Japanese version is more expensive, but there are translation guides for it, whereas the cheaper Asian version will need me to blindly navigate through objectives (particularly the bonus ones) without any help....

The signs point to the former, as I hear the bonus objectives vary greatly, and also some of the modes might be a little harder to grasp without a translation guide :/ .... What do you guys think?

Edit: Btw, in this port, do we still have to buy characters from the shop or do we unlock them the traditional way? I'd rather the latter but yeah....

Word of warning though KaHime, Play-Asia will charge you after they ship the game and they will add extra costs to the postage. Also, if you pick the free delivery and without the tracking option, theres a possibility that the courrier will lose the game and the game might be damaged. When I pre-ordered the DW7 Treasure Box, I thought they deducted everything in my bank account, you know like the postage and handling stuff. But I was wrong, They charged me another £40 because the shipping to HongKong-UK and UK-to my house is different, they didnt tell me about this until the damn fedex kept phoning me!

Anyway, What I dont get is that why KOEI cant release the game in UK/NA, they can just copy SEGA like what they do to their Yakuza Series: JP Voice + English Subs. Surely they can do that, unless they cant be bothered!!

Maybe it's expensive to even subtitle it? They gotta pay the translators, I guess.

Oh ok. This would be my second time importing a game, so I'm nervous hehe. Thanks for the info btw :)

Wouldn't the people add the cost of postage and handling to the cost of the game as well though? I thought it worked that way when you went to the checkout (I imported my first game at OzGameShop who ships for free so yeah hehe)....

They wont add it, in the check out it will show you that they "added" all of the extra costs, I assure you 100% they havent. Postage to HK to whatever country you live is the postage that that was calculated. When the package arrives to your country and they post it to your house, its another different payment, maybe more than $20+ (£25+ in the UK).

If I were you, I'l pre-order in YesAsia because EVERYTHING is added up and if you want express delivery, you add an extra $10/£11 or so :) Deffo cheaper than PlayAsia and it takes 3days to get the game!! :D

This depends on what you're more comfortable with and how your finances will go, I would say Japanese because of the guides available, I did check Baidu and found only a few but they're not in detail.

The bonus objectives are pretty easy to handle, if you check the guide I gave you they translate the bonus for you. :) (They come under "Side Mission"
The modes names have English text in the corner but everything else will be in Japanese.

You still need to purchase characters but start unlocked with the starting roster + the 3 newcomers.

Get Japanese version if you can afford to pay some extra. As others have said, all translations guides are based on Jap. version so it would be easier for you to figure out Tactical Bonuses, weapon and armour abilities and Original Career Mode objectives.

However, if you get Asian version the translation guides on GFAQs could still help you out with Tactical Bonuses, regular missions and Original Career Mode objectives. Weapon and armour abilities would be harder to figure out, though. And you can always ask help here in case you get totally lost since there are some members here, including me, who own SM3Z.

And while we're at it, I finally Platinumed the game  . It took me exactly 256 h 58 min 39 sec . I got the game on June 6 and platinum popped up on August 14. Took a while but was worth it.

I have a question about the game graphics (several, actually)

- How good are the graphics?
- Are there any pop-in enemies?
- Is the draw distance bad?
- Any slowdown?
- How detailed are the textures?
- Are characters nicely rendered onscreen?

Thanks!

1.) Very good, I personally think that DW6E has better but thats just my opinion.

2.) From what I've experience, sadly yes.

3.) Its moderate, I'd say.

4.) Not that I've encountered any.

5.) Quite good, textures on characters are very refined. Flag ships are very well detailed etc etc

6.) Not quite sure what you mean, but they all work quite well, only troublesome moment I found was the whole GraciaXRanmaru thing :kurokan:

edit: Seeing as I've posted, I might as well post my progress.

I've completed Gracia's, Aya and Okuni's story mode, and halfway through Ranmaru's. Even though I understood little of what was actually happened, I knew the basic plot thanks to the cutscenes.

Spoiler: click to toggle

Not exactly. Language barrier wasn't the problem at all thanks to GFAQs' translation guides.

The real problem was Original Career Mode. You have to clear it 7 times in total and each playthrough takes 3-6 hours even if you rush it. Also, the game features 40 characters each with a 5 stage long story so going through all of them is pretty time consuming. After you're done with the stories, you still have to level up characters in order to get 4th and 5th weapons and clear the remaining tactical bonuses.

It really depends.

If you had played SW3 already on the Wii, then get Empires.
If you haven't, get SW3 Z.

I have 3 Z and I pre-ordered Empires already.

I was most definitely going to order this game from YesAsia but thanks to Balder's post in the SB3: Utage thread saying that he and his friends have had nothing but bad luck concerning YesAsia I'm worried. I haven't paid for the order yet because I'm still nervous as hell, and now this just makes me want to bite someone's head off with the amount of nerves I'm racking up :/

Please tell me you've had some good experiences with YesAsia.... It's so cheaper than PlayAsia and from what you've said it ships in about 3 days!!!!

I ordered Sengoku Musou 3 Z at Yes-Asia around end of the May, and used free shipping option. The first game they send me was lost somewhere along the way, because free shipping in my case didn't have the tracking option. Then they send send me the second one (I didn't pay anything extra for it) and I got it in less than two weeks (I live in Poland) in perfect condition, so I really have no complains, although I had to wait a good share of time for it.

O.O didn't realise SW took that much time/work! At least it has more replayability then DW7...

I would like to kindly disagree that this game is interesting to replay.

There are 50 challenge days and who knows how many mission per day in order to get a horse. This means that you will have to play 300 days of I do not know how many missions.

This is in fact boring because you are unable to swap your character.
You have 4 character in your team but you cannot use them at all so what is the point to have team mates?

That game needs a fixing.

It's a little annoying that horse saddles are random drops indeed. However, if you keep collecting those item boxes from each stage you play, your bound to find saddles eventually. I usually find my first one after clearing 5-10 stages or before completing 1st objective. I do remember a few playthroughs when it took much longer than that, though.

The point of team mates is that they act as your bodyguards and they can help you with their special abilities. I'm certain you've noticed that each character has a color next to their image. These colors represent different special abilities which the bodyguard might active during stages. Higher level increases the chances for bodyguard to use his/her special ability:

Purple: Musou full for 15s
Green: Defense x2 for 30s
Red: Attack x2 for 30s
Light blue: Speed x2 for 30s
Dark blue: Maxes out Rengi gauge
Yellow: Attack Speed x2 for 30s
