Kessen III: Not even a Koei fansite speaks of this game often (glares at the Kessen forum). It has one of the best presented stories I've witnessed in a video game with outstanding strategy/action gameplay attached. I'd love for it to get more attention. *Sigh* Oh well, I'll have to keep this gem to myself and a few select others who appreciate it! It would even threaten (if not be in) my top 5 games of all time, I’ve lost count of how many times I replayed it! Some RPGs I enjoy and find quite enjoyable which don't get much spotlight include. - Grandia II - Star Ocean: Second Story - Tales of Eternia I'd say Valkyrie Profile titles as well, as they get some attention, just not enough. >.> |

The Legend of Dragoon I remember when it first came out it got very lukewarm reviews in the7-8ish range but it definitely is a JRPG classic. Another few I think Genji: Dawn of the Samurai and Genji: Days of the Blade they are nowhere near as bad as some make out I belive Dawn of the Samurai recieved a 6 from IGN and Days of the Blade a 4, completely ignorant scores IMO. Days of the Blade has some of the best enviromental effects I have seen on all next gen consoles. |

Beyond Good and Evil Star Ocean: Second Story Viewtiful Joe (although I only own the 2nd game) Legend of Legaia (not sure how underrated this game was though...) Ico I actually played a demo of Legend of Dragoon many years ago, I wish I'd bought it at the time.

Star Wars: Masters of Teras Kasi The reviewers screwed it over, but the players loved it. I think it finished behind SF and ahead of Tekken in the fighting game category in most games that year. How can you beat remaking your own lightsaber fight between Luke and Vader?? |

My all-time favorite overlooked game is The Addams Family (SNES). Based on the 1991 movie, it's a well-programmed platform adventure game with a huge, secret-packed map. You heard me right. A good movie license game from back in the day? YA RLY! Beating the game isn't all that difficult. Finding all its hidden rooms took me months, and there were a few that eluded me until I got some help online years later. The player-friendly engine and ease of stocking up on extra lives encourage you to goof around and explore, which is the only way to uncover many of the hidden goodies. |

Kinetica for the PS2. It's a pretty unique racing game IMO One Must Fall 2097 for the PC. Who doesn't love giant robots beating the crap out of each other? FYI, this game is freeware. I'd like to say DW and SW, but I'm not sure if those count as underrated. |

EarthBound NoA pretty much neglected EarthBound from the get-go. EarthBound would've done a lot better if NoA had marketed the game better instead of attaching the "This game stinks" slogan to it. It even got a JP only re-release, completely ignoring EB fans. EarthBound should definitely be on VC or get released on DS with Mother(EarthBound 0) and Mother 3(EarthBound 2) in a "3-pack" |

Well, it seems that Earthbound is slowly creeping into the consciousness of the American gaming audiences thanks to Brawl. Kid Icarus seems to be doing the same thing. |

I already mentioned God Hand before. I heard Rogue Galaxy was a pretty underrated game. Anyone know any good underrated non-turn based games for the PS2? I am pretty much done with the PS2, but want to pick up some good games and play them before I get hooked completely to the PS3. Right now I have on my list: Rogue Galaxy Killer 7 Drakan: The Ancient’s Gates Indigo Prophecy Blood Will Tell |

Before I finished reading I was going to mention that game! ![]() Indigo Prophecy (aka Fahrenheit in PAL regions) is a pretty good game. A truly cinematic game which wasn't played by many but was loved by those who picked it up. Besides, from the above one I would say Kessen III is also a very underrated game. God, it is an almost perfect game but reviewers couldn't look pass the fact that it was made by Koei so they just decided to brand the game being repetitive! What game isn't!

Hrmm wow Dragon Warrior and Fayt too brought out a classic there yes Kessen III I felt was underated as well. ![]() Rachet and Clank tools of destruction didn't really sell too well but was graphically a beautiful game to play feels like a movie from pixar. Blue Dragon this is probably one of the rpgs which just didn't seem to appeal to america that much may be drawing designs and what not and voicing but seriously I don't see what's so wrong about this game was it because it was too easy? I find the game quite fun. Wild Arms 5: hrmm not many people even speak of this game may be because they don't like the fighting system but it is a good rpg and has pretty good mini games may be because it is the fifth installment of the wild arms franchise. Bleach: Dark souls.... hrmm didn't recieve so well in america may be the fan base hasn't kicked up but this is a great 2d fighter on the ds probably one of the best of what I've seen. Super robot taisen original generations 1 and 2: may be due to fan base in america these games didn't recieve so well cause of the lack of knowledge about mecha series... highly favored in japan and all over asia and europe....this series still lives on but when will we see another game like this in USA again. Final Fantasy VIII: To a lot of people they didn't like this particular game may be it was because of the new drawing designs that the people looked like adults or the draw battle system people didn't like the fact your stats rely on your magic draws... but this game is great I actually liked the fighting system over many of the other ones.... Final Fantasy IX: probably the most underated FF game of all...it's probably because of the characters the story line and the closeness of relating FF to DBZ on some scenes of the main character and the main villain. Final Fantasy : Mystiq Quest often an overlooked rpg that was on the SNES the game had an interesting story line but not many have really played it or rated it so well. Gundam Battle Assault 2: probably not known to the fan base in america... for gundam wing wasn't yet the big ordeal that is today....if this game came out at the hype sales would've become crazy...still a great 2d fighter. Gundam Battle Assault 3: this game was released on ps2 and it actually has seed in it as well but not many have ever seen or heard of it perhaps it is the phase where gundam is dying in america now. Not sure if it's because the Gundam shows aren't shown on Cartoon network no more but on things like Scifi. |

Favorite underrated games that I like but don't see many fans of. Destruction Derby: This series doesn't seem as popular at all but from the ones I played, they are fun as hell. Smashing cars around for massive points in hopes to drive on two wheels with a blow out radiator while flipping your car off a death arena is fun. ^^ Hot Shot Golf: I guess not many people are into golf as a sport amongst the crowd but this games can be fun for multiplayer tournaments since you can taunt and distract friends with some annoying background commentary. Jeanne d'Arc: From what I see, not many people don't know much about this game but if you had played Final Fantasy Tactics and liked it then you will sure love this game. Also the story is base off Joan of Arc so some Bladestorm fans my like this game as well. |

Another one I like that's pretty underrated is Megaman Legends. Dang that was an awesome game, but most people hate and only remember it for the voice acting. The free roaming aspect was pretty good, and there was quite a lot to do for a Megaman game. |

Sorry Richie408, but I think it's crazy to call any FF title underrated, perhaps compared to others in the series they are, but I'm certain those FF's are far better known then most other RPG's out there! While I'm at it, I'll add Infinite Undiscovery. I actually felt that was a pretty good RPG, even though it got bashed by many, usually for comments like 'very last gen' or 'not enough cutscenes'. Which I think is crap, who cares about graphics, if the story and gameplay is enjoyable enough it's all that matters, I liked it anyway! |
