Liu Shan or Liu Chan, whatever. I do not think it's very important.

True. Whether or not he's called Shan or Chan, he's here anyway.

But I bet there are people here who want to call him "Poo Chan".

The clone talk is somewhat relevant with the release of the EX attacks but even then I have a hard time jumping to conclusions until I'm actually using these characters myself and seeing their attacks and how they look.

Did some say something about 4th weapons a few pages ago? Was that really confirmed? Kaoisuke? I think it was mentioned and somehow didn't get brought up again but hell, this would be f'n awesome.... the 4th / 5th weapons (or 10th level weapons) in DW3-5 was pretty much the most fun part of the series for me. The battles were so hard and demanding especially if you tried to do them naturally during their musou mode (instead of after they are built up and their stage on Hard is no longer hard).

after seeing the cg artworks, xiao qiao outift looks more acceptable to me.

still worry about the choices of weapon koei picks for DW. SW could get lots of variety. the weapons of new character in SW3 amused me. then rapier comes in DW7. and 3 characters are confirmed to use it. why koei why?

Rapier has been around for a while. Nu Wa initially had the Rapier in DW3 and then Yuan Shao in DW6 (maybe others).

This is the sentence that everyone is looking for. But no one can find it so they start complaining.

I think its based around the fact that when he was shown in DW4XL and DW5, he was called "Liu Chan".
KOEI's done about-faces before on name transliteration before (though for some reason they've never fixed Xu Chu). Liu Shan is the more academically accepted spelling/pronunciation of the name. so I kind of hope that KOEI is stepping up their localization a bit.

There are some translation errors that still really bug me about DW6, particularly with generic officers. Huo Jun, who finally got put into the game as a generic in 6, got his name mangled to "Hou Jin" in the English version. Ma Ridi, a famous tutor from the Han era (who really shouldn't have been placed in the game as an officer at all, they were just really reaching for officers for Yuan Shu though I guess), had his name changed to "Ma Richan," which is pretty silly considering how famous Ma Ridi should be to someone who knows a lot about the Three Kingdoms. And let's not forget Liu "Yong," whose name has been wrong since DW3. It should be Liu Yao. Or Liu You. Either one works.

I just really hope they fix this sort of thing. Or heck, have me translate the officer names. I'd do it for free, KOEI, and I'm qualified. Call me.

Did someone verify Xiahou Ba's sword is the same (in hud) as the one we spotted in an earlier screenshot ? (Can't seem to find it back).

I'm getting interested in this, I just saw Ba was the only one who didn't get his weapon type translated from the newest batch.

Edit : I don't know about clones or whatsoever, but at least, he doesn't seem to have Guan Ping's old DW5 moveset.

As for similar S-string with different charge attacks. - true DW3-5 had a lot of these but I think there were some with the same weapon types who also had some differences in their S-strings.. I don't remember exactly but I think Da and Xiao definitely had quite a bit of difference even in their S-strings. Some variety in the S-string would be ideal... anyway if its the same I hope the different charge attacks would be enough to distract people from noticing the S-strings ^^0

Two Qiaos had different different s-string from the 4th s-string (they shared same moveset from 1st until 3rd s-strings) and i'm agree to you about charge attacks thing :)
Oh dear... since when did I become Seraphil

yes i do realize that, but i consider rapier to be new to dw series because nu wa is just a guest character for me. and that's exactly my complain.

Was Lu Xun's DW6 weapon not a rapier? I might be mis-remembering, but I thought it being something very similar.

And the rapier seems to be just a substitue for a short sword MS this time around.

Rapier has grown since DW3. Nu Wa's Rapier was so fast that you had to slow down to continue juggle-combo's, otherwise she'd attack too fast.

It's good for Liu Chan though because it's one of the weakest weapons around.

Nu Wa's musou with the rapier was great.

Oh, by the way, thanks Fantaji. Then he might certainly be DW7's giant sword user, even if I suspect Guan Ping will also get one.

with the childish face and robe it's still hard for me to imagine liu chan using it until the screenshots come.

isn't it disappointing that new characters 'only' get rapier, dao sword, feather fan, gauntlet, among all weapons?

The rapier was also available for Edit officers, so it's not like it's completely Nu Wa's weapon. And keep in mind that Liu Shan probably won't have Nu Wa's moveset.

The thing that worries me is that we're having a lot of duplicate weapons. Now Sima Shi, Yuan Shao, and Liu Chan have rapiers. It will be a miracle if Koei gave everyone a unique moveset

oh wait! the screenshots are there! silly me. liu bei and zhuge liang looks really good. xiahou ba is better without the helmet. liu chan with rapier is not bad. xiao qiao is out of place.

i'm not worry about cloned movesets as we know every character ex attack will be different and we're back to pre dw6 where s-strings could be similar. i just disappointed with the variety of weapons.

The only bad thing here is that Liu Shan has a rapier.

I can't even imagine him fighting, I mean, wasn't he mentally retarded ? He would probably be more of a threat to himself than to the enemy.

Don't get me wrong, his design is nice (perfectly represents the young and careless noble type), but he should have been an UNPC, nothing more.
