I'm a long time fan of these games, but fairly new to the real story behind them. I've been learning a lot just from following this forum. You guys are a wealth of knowledge. I have some questions I know you guys can handle.

-Who where the most unstoppable badass characters in real life?

-Who do you think has the most accurate portrayal in the games?

-Was there anyone who was left out of the game that was really important?
1) Zhang Fei, definitely... Guan Yu is a good choice as well, but Zhang Fei has less of a fictional buffer.

2) I'd agree with whoever said Cao Cao.

3) Lu Su comes to mind, but I expect people to disagree with that.
Oh, I don't disagree at all about Lu Su. I think he's quite underrated in general, and, in the DW series, what weighs more against him is probably that Wu already has three strategists.
He's probably my favourite character from the Romance of the Three Kingdoms novel, and I would be delighted if KOEI added him to the DW series with that wonderful design we saw in the 10th Anniversary Character Complete Works book (well, in fact I love almost all the unused designs from that book *thinks of Ma Dai* *sighs*).

If that is so is it not slightly concerning it is due so soon and not even finished?

The process for Microsoft even allowing a game on their console takes some time, so if that release date is set in stone I am pretty sure both versions are done and pressed already.

For example; Zhu Rong and Wang Yuanji presumably have got different charge attacks but which moveset does, say, Zhen Ji get if she equips the daggers?
Kinda makes me wonder..
That is simple, whichever one she equips. Zhu Rong will have her own set of weapons, as will Wang Yuan Ji (Remeber there ARE 360 weapons). If you equip one of Zhu Rong's on Zhen Ji then she will get Zhu Rong's version of the Knives moveset and the same for Wang Yuan Ji's.
360 different weapon combos. Also it's probably just like were for example Jiang Wei and Ma Chao move sets will be similar but you know Ma Chao would be the most unique and generics or someone would just have Jiang Wei's. Though ADawg's explaination is better IMO. It isn't bad like I doubt it'll irk you when you play the game unless DW 2-5 irked you?
Nope, it is 360 different weapons, not combos. There is no mathematical way to make up 360 combos of 2 because 27 weapons = 351 combinations of 2 and 28 weapons = 378. However (assuming we still have multiple levels for weapons - ex: Bronze Spear, Great Spear, Dragon Spear, Fierce Dragon for Zhao Yun) then we can mathematically see there is a possibility for: 60 (6 levels), 72 (5 levels), or 90 (4 levels) different movesets.
You sure it wasn't 360 different combination of weapons...? I thought I remember someone saying somthing about it not being 360 weapons... Thats a lot of weapons and a lot of different movesets... I might be wrong but im pretty sure
Quote:

There will be about 360 different varieties of weapons
(This does not mean there will be such amount of different movesets)
It is indeed 360 weapons, not 360 different combos. There should be a total of 360 weapons, for cons, the different levels of a weapon also counts as a weapon. There is a small correction to the topic of information, there will be 360 weapons, not 360 varieties of weapons, this is not exactly the same thing.

I noticed one small thing on Zhang Jiao's bio:
"His philosophical style and singular presence"
Does this perhaps mean there won't be any other non-generics other than Zhang Jiao for the Yellow Turbans again?
I hope not, I'd quite like Liao Hua >.<

Or maybe I'm just looking into it too much ^^"
I didn't read that bio, however I suppose that by "singular" they mean "unusual", "odd", "remarkable", "striking", or something similar.

I think they will do the following with the weapons:

Spear >>> Great Spear >>> Zhao Yun's Spear
>>> Ma Chao's Spear
>>> Jiang Wei's Spear

This is just what I think it'll happen...

Liao Hua was a nobody for the Yellow Turbans really... he was just a lower commanding officer with them before becoming an outright bandit after they got cuffed by the Han alliance.

Even if Liao Hua was indeed confirmed as unique and for that matter from the days of the YT (somehow i always picture him as getting an older appearance which would not fit well with being old from the very start of the games timeline) he would just be a face in a generic crowd. Only people of real importance for the YTs were the Zhang brothers.

Well that of course is unless KOEI get all creative but i just cant see Liao Hua getting much cutscene time during his presence with the Yellow Turbans either way. Still by singular i do think they mean truly unique and simply put there is no other character in DW like him

Anyone else notice a new Jin character in the JP promo when Zhong Hui is talking at 58secs. His face and clothes look different from all other Jin characters so maybe Xiahou Ba isnt the last Jin character after all. Oh Wang Yaun Ji = awesome and loved the promo. I feel at ease that there wont be exact clones in this game like in DW6.

Yeah, in the book maybe. But in DW games there are always YT generals and Liao Hua tends to be one. So Koei wouldn't need to get more creative than they already have been.

As for the "singular" presence issue. Yep, that probably does mean Zhang Jiao is the only unique YT. I mean it could also refer to his new masculine appearance where he no longer needs to hide in the corner while his guards do everything, but to me personally, I feel it means there will be no other YT's. Hope for the best, but expect the worst. Sad but true.

Edit: Although in Zhang Jiao's case, that sentence is speaking directly about his moveset (or his movement at least), so maybe it is talking about his refurbished look. WHo knows?

Edit #2: The explanation given by also Sera makes perfect sense. Singular can mean "odd" as well as "alone".

This Sima Zhao, he is easily recognizable. ^_^

Perhaps Zhong Hui is speaking to Wen Yang? After all, Zhong Hui is the reason that Sima Zhao forgave Wen Yang for killing Sima Shi. Perhaps they'll have Wen Yang feel indebted to the man?

It looked that way to me too, just him at an angle we're not used to. That could be the pre-battle section where you talk with a few key generals in the stage to get the story. The way they were talking seem much more conversation heavy and didn't seem like it was just a regular cut scene.

Heh, so a week later and they give us the jin intro, new characters, and non translated pictures. Word cause they really act like the game coming out two months later than J/P version which is kinda fustrating in the fact that if we get updated a week later how are we going to see half azz website two months before the game comes out I'd like to hear someone justify this mess. Shiz is lame as hell IMO -_-

They really testing my nerves.
Saves money. Time. Effort

After translating to various european languages it doesn't really matter.

100% of the game won't be translated yet especially to the vast range of languages available.

Take a break, don't worry :)

Yeah, i hoped for that too. I wonder also, if the game will have more languages besides english and japanese. Example german. Of course i doubt it. I'm not german but i live in Germany and speak that language good. Till DW4 and SW1 the games had that language. And it was really good synchronized. Since then only the texts in the games are in german language. Thereby we can choose more languages to read the official site of DW7, including german and others. I would really love to have my native language as a choice as well. That would be funny.

Mace is often used as a blanket term for blunt weaponry, so it could include both.

And Xu Zhu's weapon is kinda the same weapon as Diao Chan's were, just a very big version of it. :P A club is more along he lines of Xiahou Yuan's in DW4/5

If you guys looked watched the JP PV, Xiahou Dun uses Xu Zhu's club from DW5 :) So I wonder how much they changed up Xu Zhu's move set..Maybe he'll get that move from DW4 where he grabs the soldier, then throws them & hits them with his club :3

Slightly off topic; I've always been kind of curious about this, is finding Koei games for Americans really that hard?
I live in Canada and I've never had a problem with finding Koei games. You can still find copies of various ROTK games for the PS2, Bladestorm is still around and not priced like a forgettable, older game..
Wait... where do you live? I live in Alberta and Koei games are usually a few days late from their release date... and there are NO Koei games to be found ANYWHERE. Wish I could pick up RoTK XI (or XII? I dunno) but its impossible to find them.
I live in Ontario..
That's totally weird, I never found Koei games hard to find. Guess my city must be lucky or something..?
Whattup! Upstate New York... enjoying your winter? :kurokan:

I usually get mine a day or two after the release date... games are usually released on Tuesdays and I'll get it on Wednesday or Thursday for KOEI games for some reason.

Has anyone noticed that on the official site in the 'introducing the new power: Jin' pop-up on the first page it says

Quote:

Then the powerful Emperor Cao Pi dies young, leaving in his place a new and insecure Emperor, one who fears the influence of the Sima family.

Who are they talking about?

Maybe a new Wei character! *sarcasm*

Hi Trevor,
Thanks to your earlier email we followed up with our buying team and put this sku on the site. I saw the url you sent (thank you) but we are still awaiting final info from the vendor before we put it up as a matter of normal process. Once it’s all communicated through our “official” channels – probably tomorrow – we’ll get the date updated along with some other content. We really appreciate you bringing this all to our attention and it will all be updated within a day or so.

Thanks again,

Oh, yeah! My voice was heard by GameStop..So...Dynasty Warriors 7 will be available for pre-order soon! Warriors fans of America, rejoice!

The game is already on the GameStop website, but there is no release date & you can't pre-order it, but according to the email I received above, all that will be changed within a few days :) No thanks are necessary, because like the rest of you, I am a fan of this series, and I want us all to enjoy it.
Thank you!!!! Now I don't have to worry about pre-order crap!!! Haha, but so you'll be able to pre-order online?
