oh yes that's a concern if Conquest mode has no allies soldiers on the battlefield besides enemies. :OMG:

In fact that would blow the point of fighting. :meantongue:

I know the allies are there to give a sense of a war going on even though it's up to us to decide the outcome, but still, these battles are fought by the hundreds and thousands, there has to be a lot of visible ally soldiers in every single stage, not just pets and bodyguards. :OMG:

An example of the repetitiveness of both DW games and first shooter games is that the features that change. Graphics, weaponry, characters, and stages! Call of Duty: Black Ops had new stages and graphics and that's why it's so popular. I believe that people don't appreciate DW in the west because of it's Chinese setting.
And I don't find it odd that Zhang Fei and Wei Yan share the same weapon type. I think it really works for weapon imo anyway!

Mostly in the US gamers are ignorant along with american culture. So many times I have been playing SW and my roomate will come watch and make fun of the Japanese setting, or how he hates anime looking games.....

He is just dumb and if its not call of duty, most americans dont care. They want giant meatheads blowing sht up! Soooo lame.

On topic I want Gan Ning to have the dual daggers just cuz its unique
you know you yourself are being ignorant right here ya know...
Beat me to it...

I am just absolutely excited by this game.

One question though. In conquest mode do we have allies with us? AI allies I mean. It seems in most conquest mode screenshots the mini map shows just a sea of red and no blue. Seems very weird if we can't fight with allies. Other than the panda bears of course

I must say, Sun Jian looks fantastic. A very nice blend between earlier dw games and 6. Glad they toned down the spiky hair but I am still happy they kept his gray hair.

And lol at Quan covering his sisters mouth. I wonder if she said something flirty to Liu Bei or was it inappropriate? lol

I think some of the battles in Conquest Mode do actually include allies while other specific ones don't. It seems we'll just have to wait for the game to find out.

I don't think it's the Chinese setting, that is just plain discrimination and racist but the mainstream western audience don't care about the place as long as the gameplay and features is what they want.

look at Fatal Frame series, they are super popular and successful in the west and they always involved a Japanese setting with 100% Japanese/asian characters, and that is a good thing.

I really hated how the Forbidden Siren team made a remake of Siren but with western characters replacing the asian characters (Blood Curse). It was insulting not only to the original game and original cast, but also towards asians in general! The west is not as racist as it appears when it comes to gaming.

That is a sign the team felt discouraged by the poor western sales of the first Siren, and misguided and misunderstood the reasons why it sold bad.

It wasn't about the setting/place/ethnic background of the characters that made it sell bad, it was simply the lack of easier difficulty levels for the mainstream crowd and some control design decisions.

If anything the western market (and eastern market) needs more games and stories and cast of characters that are from foreign places, especially asia.

A large % of Japanese made games don't even take place in asia or have asian protagonists (take the Resident Evil series for example, or Metal Gear Solid, or Devil May Cry, or Castlevania, Metroid, etc. )
Including the Final Fantasy games, yes some can pass for asian, but overall they have a western look to them. There's so much western influence in games and character designs even those made in the east, it's kind of sickening in a way.

Actually I think it's DW6 Guan Du. Yuan Shao was posted there in Empires.

I think Guan Du had a river, while this doesn't have. It's probably the He Bei map from DW6:S which was located in one of the northern provinces.

ha, that map is for sure the one that was in the northeast, its an exact copy. Guan Du had a castle only in the center south, and two forts in the north, this only has one castle in the north west, the rest are all forts. its an exact copy from DW6 empires

Bei Ping in DW6 Empires and He Bei in DW6 Special. ;)

Yes,they're reusing many maps.

EDIT: Now that I see it...is this Zhong Hui's rebellion stages? The blue name in his dialogue is Jiang Wei.

that is really depressing, and there both Jin Characters, so maybe all Jin levels are battles on earlier level? hopefully not all levels are recycled, i know Chang Ban is too.

Completely agree with this. It's pretty straight forward really: Conquest Mode will feature a mixture of stages! There will be ones where you fight larger battles with allies, and ones more personal to the character where they fight solo.

So Guan Du is Re-used too. Well maybe it'll be reused for a different stage, cause its day time unless it has a time shifted battle system where whatever time it is depends on whether its light or dark, but I'm hoping that map is used for a different stage and grant a new Guan Du or jsut use it for conquest mode. I like the map, Just ever since DW2 I enjoy seeing the newer improved maps of the original stages.

The good news is, we're getting the Japanese voices as free DLC! The bad news is, we're gonna need it.

Interesting. Seems slightly unfair on people who don't have an Internet connection on their consoles, but aleast it's coming in some form for those who want it.
