I miss bodyguards =/

I'd like to see them make a comeback now that the AI is "improved". Would be nice to run with an army of 15 soldiers at your back that you customly setup and levelup again.
Yeah, I totally agree with this. I actually liked the DW3 system of bodyguards the best out of DW and SW. If they took that a step further and offered individualization in weapon choice for each body guard, and what tactics they would take, now that would be amazing.

Well in DW6 there were things that made nearby allied troops kills count towards your own, so we know the engine can prevent KSing by your own bodyguards if they were available.

I'm kinda hoping the friend system in Conquest mode will work kinda like it did in DW Vol.2 where you had Officers you selected to join you in battle that followed you around and fought with you. For now that'd be an adequate replacement, but I still hope for a return of the bodyguard system itself.

Want to improve the game? I believe Koei will need to do at least the following.

Make sure the Battles stages are large.
Give the player control over his units.
Reward players that use said units in a intelligent manner.
Cut down the god like abilities of the main characters.
Make the AI more intelligent.
Penalize players that wade too deep into enemy lines.
Give a complete sub-game for duels.
Bring more history and ROTK elements into the game.
Bring in a wound system, along with other RPG elements.
Bring in a system that remembers relationships between officers both bad and good.
So bassicly you want

1 - The stages from dw2 were pretty big
2 - Empires has that
3 - Empires again
4 - umm??.. You mean make character more balanced?..
5 - Dw4 AI
6 - Dw2 again, you get pwnd going way to deep
7 - ROTK
8 - History?.. You mean the Novel... And ROTK is to different, it would change the game completely
9 - I think they had that, They need to improve the Moral system
10 - Intersting Idea, but very unbalanced at times.

Mmmmk..

And for your "Empires" Suggestion... Thats just turning the game into ROTK.. (In which im actually playing right now (11) :XD ) So yeh.. no..

Also CAW sucks

Interesting, most here ***** and moan about reviews and the game needs changes, but if anyone talks about radical change, the cry goes out.

Without the change, Koei is doomed to mediocre. Also it seems either I can't get my point across or many just can see what I'm aiming for. I also note none mentioned the toggle system, that would allow the game to remain as is if you don't want a deeper game. As I said it would be the best of both worlds. Options is the key.

I stated many such changes back at DW4 and DW5. Such as Seige craft, RPG elements, multiple weapons, Kingdom mode instead of Story mode. Conquest mode, and all these years later, most have come to pass.

I'll predict now that over half of the suggestions I made will come to pass in the next 4 years.

SEE YA THEN.

I liked the analogy that was made of DW being like Madden.

Every few years they release a new version, update the rosters, add a new feature, tweak some stuff.

It works, as much as some people want radical change there's a fine line between innovation and hurting your true fanbase. People don't realize how thing that line really is at times.

Madden releases the same game every year. It's a terrible business practice, but most of the American public are sheeple that'll blindly buy it every year, not realizing it is literally the same product they bought last year, and the year before that, and so on and so forth. The reason NFL games were released on an annual schedule was to update rosters, but now we're in the age of DLC and online patches, and though a new release every year is completely unnecessary, most still haven't wisened up to what EA's doing.

DW on the other hand releases every 3-4 years. At this point, the company is actually using that time well. Both DW6 and DW7 used brand new engines and gameplay systems, whereas DW5-DW3 were the same engine, gameplay, and assets recycled aside from stages. If this trend of progress continues, then Koei's reputation may improve in the West.

What you said about Madden is how the rest of the gaming world sees DW games.

Both are wrong.

I'm sorry but how can I be wrong when the developer's themselves made this comparison in an interview?

I'll see if I can find the link. It was on Destructoid when they were trying to find a good comparison in the west considering how the west is unusually harsh on DW games when it comes to them being games of little change between each iteration.

Jim Sterling, the guy who wrote the article and asked the questions, made the Madden comparison. Not the developers.

Did they say that by email or something? GAME.com.au also says March still, right down to the specific date.

It doesn't make sense if this has to do with the 3DS and Samurai Warriors Chronicles. In Europe, sure, but not here. :/

So it's morning here, and the PV still hasn't surfaced, how odd. I can't see it being released late at night in Japan, or is that a standard thing lol?

As for Australia, I can't understand why you guys have been delayed too - but generally you do seem tied to European releases.

I'm tired and don't feel like digging for anything beyond Wikipedia, but we were slightly behind Europe on DW6 and SW3 (though still ahead of the US on the latter). Occasionally we beat Europe by a few days like with the Golden Sun game on DS.

I did get an automated email on the 15th from EB Games saying DW7 would be arriving soon. I also got an email on the same day for another game I preordered, which is due to come out on the same day.

Fiercewarrior: No. Different people.

Guan Suo is fictional. Guan Xing is historical. Nevertheless, we don't know yet whether Suo will take parts of Xing's role/story within the game, so it's a fair enough question.

Oh my GOD!!! I just realized due to those comparison pics of Guan Suo and Keiji Maeda that koei might be sort of taking inspiration from the Sengoku Basara series character design-wise. I mean thanks to the sales Basara had compared to SW3, I'm not really surprised at this.............. Heck some of the gameplay's even becoming similarly out of whack. The previous dw games never let you pound the enemies into the air and have flashy moves/musous and stuff, and knock out about 100 enemies at once. Sure DW6 let you instantly kill about 20 peons in one go, but now its just astounding...........................
