The one that looks like his DW4-5 C1 attack on steroids?

That looks more like an EX attack, but I also have no idea.
Dark Background, Close up portrait shot, ridiculous special effects. Seems Musou to me.

Should have capitals in his name.

From what I can see, Xiahou Dun and Sima Zhao share the same string of attacks, at least partially. It seems like they may have different charges though. Zhao Yun seems to have his renbu string, but that's a two handed version of his c4 (or c5) from DW5 that he uses.

I'm more interested in what Xiahou Dun does @ 1:25. He does what looks like a charge attack, glows blue for a moment, and then does another charge with the same weapon? Could that be an EX attack or something? Whatever it is, it seems to have a fire element, whereas before that his attacks are ice. (Doesn't appear to use any musou gauge, either)

Additionally, the throwing daggers move-set looks like it's going to be as powerful as the bows were in DW6 + The new musou attacks also look a lot like the special moves from Hokuto Musou.

The throwing daggers actually looked really weak. Her musou was thrown in a large group but after all of it, she only killed like 8 people.

I think they are playing in hard mode or chaos mode

Would anyone ever like to see a more serious looking version of DW? Using character models more akin to their ROTK versions for example? Less OTT, more dramatic?

... like Cao Cao, Cao Ren and Xiahou Dun here for example?

If you are talking about the big fire attack his part of the video starts off with, then I mentioned this last night I believe that is his Ex move. Looking at the Sima Zhao gameplay video again then this PV, it looks like you can cancel your s-string into an Ex attack at any time, and when someone does an Ex attack (or maybe only if it is a cancel, not sure) they flash right before the attack. You can see it with Zhao's surfing at 4:30 in the old gameplay video and Dun's fire attack in the PV at 1:25.

By watching that promotional video, seeing Xiahou Dun with Sun Shang Xiang's Chakrams and Qiao's twin fans made me think that maybe everyone can just equip like everything?
I was hoping that there would be at least some sort of restrictions...I mean, come on! That was "kinda fun" to see, but it's totally weird...
BUT, the few movesets I've seen are kinda fun and am still looking forward to this hopefully awesome game.

If there were restrictions, people would ***** and cry lots more than already.

You dont HAVE to use certain weapons on certain characters.

It will be perfectly possible for each character to have two suitable weapons, and no character have the same two weapons.

Yeah, I hear you. There would be more whining indeed.
And I wasn't saying that to "complain", I was just pointing that out because it's really...really weird and it just takes some of the characters uniqueness I think.
But you're right, the more options, the better eh? At least we can do basically whatever we want with each character.

So our character preferences would be basically on the character's looks, importance in the story and personality. Their skill with their own respective weapons would be taken out of the equation, BUT not entirely, since people still have their own EX moves and their own musou (at least that's what I've heard).

Historical accuracy is good and all, but Dynasty Warriors is that kind of 3K series that allows for more liberty with the cast. So I'd just leave historical accuracy to the ROTK games.

Could be worse. Could be like Sengoku Basara. Now I don't mean that in a bad way, just saying as far as fictionalizing looks for these 3K personas (and Sengoku), it'll never be as over the top as Sengoku Basara.

Those ones, except for maybe Cao Ren so much, actually do look quite like their DW counterparts. You should have put Wei Yan and Zhang He up there.

Hmm it seems that movesets from Dynasty Warriors 5 and 6 were merged. Just what I wanted to see. And that whole concept about seamless cinematic and gameplay thing's looking interestingly sharp. I'm still waiting to see how the no pre menu is going to work and how swimming would be useful.

Indeed, the ROTK version of Dian Wei for example is quite different.

Oh and as for Sengoku Basara.... how is a flying mechanical Tadakatsu OTT?

We just need Cao Ren with a jetpack and we'll have a DW equivalent

The release date is great and all....but it comes out right around Dragon Age 2! >_>
I don't have the money for both!
Oh well....

Oh hay there new favourite gif.

The PV was good, a little short though, I'm glad they focused on Jin since they have majority of the new characters. I've never been more excited for moe Wang Yuanji, she looks great, her musou is just badass, I love how she acts.

It's nice to see that there are just semi-clones. Don't have much else to say. I'm not too impressed with the looks of Zhong Hui's move set, it seems too choppy, I was hoping for something else, but it may be too soon to judge. I'm a bit disappointed that there was no Ma Dai gameplay or Deng Ai. :hehe:

This is probably another appearance of a generic character. After all, it seems that this game has a lot of different generic characters.

Did someone mentioned/noticed the 2 maps we have seen in the PV? I mean the maps on the right top corner of the gameplays. The most are zoomed, except 2.
The first map is shown right after that (awesome, sensationell, spectacular, outstanding, best scene in the PV and so) character-switch-scene with Zhang Fei and Zhao Yun. The map shows us the first part with Zhang Fei, which is the lower part, that looks like an empty area, divided with a thick black line. And the upper part is the one from Zhao Yun, where he is going to save Liu Bei's son.
And the second map is shown in the gameplay of Bao Sanniang. Don't know, what battle that is.

The Bao Sanniang stage is Wu Territory (DW6:S map)
