Nobody has made a topic about this yet! So I made one. Here is a short sypnosis of seed: 'Mankind is divided over the issue of genetic engineering administered to human test subjects. Normal humans are now known as "Naturals" and the genetically altered humans are known as "Coordinators". The series is the first of the Gundam franchise set in the "Cosmic Era". This series begins with the Bloody Valentine War between the Naturals, who reside on Earth, and the Coordinators, who reside in the space colonies. The Naturals' army is called the Earth Alliance while the military force of the Coordinators is called ZAFT (Zodiac Alliance of Freedom Treaty). The series was widely acclaimed upon release, and has left a great legacy upon the otaku community of Japan and abroad. A handful of major characters consistently top the favorite character lists of Newtype magazine, and the merchandise sold in the thousands. Thoughts on this series? Seed was alright, even though it really didn't set my world on fire like some of the other Gundam AUs that came before it. Destiny, however? It can go die in a fire. It really took Banpresto and SRWZ to redeem Destiny in my eyes, such as to not only have it and its story make sense, but also turn it into something enjoyable. I don't care if Fukuda doesn't like how Banpresto treated his and his wife's story; it was a complete mess before SRWZ gave it the "fix-fic" treatment. |

Yeah like what was said. SEED was alright. Not spectacular or anything, but it was good enough. SEED Destiny...possible contender for the WORST. Sure some MS designs look good and their 4 OP themes are OK, but the story was a gigantic mess, the characters are wasted potential, where can I go on, it's just pathetic. |

Eh, Cosmic Era as a whole universe isn't so bad to me. A bit off-topic, but at least we still get some badass things from the universe, like SEED Astray, and.... my current avatar too.  But yeah, like many people said, Destiny gets ****ed down to rock bottom after Episode 39 onwards. And it took other games like SRW Z to redeem the series. I heard Shinn's GW2 story also redeems the character to an extent. |

Well Seed in my imo is the best Gundam show yet, love it. Can't say I have many if any complains on this one. Destiny while it didn't live up to Seed was an ok show, for me it suffered from a moron of a protagonist for the first half of the show, thankfully the main character Athrun swaps side and Kira becomes the protagonist again close to the end and things get much better. Despite hating Shinn I liked his transition from hero to well meaning villein by the end. Of course things could of been handled better, Kira's character development amounts to looking out of windows for most the show then 1 talk with Athrun and he knows what he must do all of a sudden. |

The beautiful and skilled Shiho Hahnenfuss. As Treize would say, "Ah! Utsukushi."  It brings me to tears that her love will remain unrequited for a long, long time though.  Original SEED and several side works were good. If I had to list any kind of complaint at all, it's that they were way too heavy-handed in making the Earth Alliance look villainous in order to get us to sympathize with the Coordinator main character, and that there were too many flashbacks and recycling of animation. My real problem lies with Destiny. I know there are plenty of people who will say it was a good series up until it reached the 30's, but I personally thought it was not very good from start to finish.
Haha, you know it's funny, I think Fukuda actually went on record recently saying that he didn't think his work was adapted well at all in SRW. Edited by Byalant Custom, Feb 7 2011, 07:31 AM.

Oh, of course. He didn't really care at all for what Terada and his pals at Banpresto did with he and his wife's precious Destiny storyline. But hey, whatever. The fans ended up appreciating what Banpresto did, and even the likes of Shinn's seiyuu ended up going on record to state that "the Shinn in SRWZ is the real Shinn in my heart". And it wasn't because his character was made into a wunderchild or whatever. It was because SRWZ's rendition of Destiny actually did more to be even-handed with Shinn and Kira alike, without throwing either character under a bus on the other hand. Hell, I loved how Kira even got called out on the hypocritical bull**** he was spouting, while Shinn had to get his smacks too before he straightened out. So, far as I and many are concerned, SRWZ Destiny is definitely the Destiny that I choose to recognize. I'm not the kind of person who would wish illness or death or any one, but I count it all joy that the SEED movie is seemingly vaporware now, likely due to the fact that Fukuda and his wife will probably never get to do it at this point. |

Indeed. On the other hand, CE will forever be cemented in my mind as the one AU with the most potential that was wasted in a pretty bad fashion. Ah, well. ... Z2's looking good at least. |

actually he said he has no problems Destiny in SRWZ what he said he had a problem with things been added or changed in his script but then says games he has no problems with since there a different media. The thing he hates about games are when they use the name of the show but the content isn't very good. That sounds more like ACER to me where the characters are just kinda there and don't do anything basically. hell in the same conversation he even says "If I look at it from a creator's point of view, I wouldn't want any changes. As for a viewer like me, I love games like SRW where my favorite shows come together, and I'm happy when SEED is inside." |

Gundam Seed( pre-destiny was good) I found it very annoying they had a change of heart' with Mu's death,he should have stayed dead. Destiny's plot was too chop and change,and the first ending was horrible. Bringing back 'god yamato',was not the best idea. Cagalli got the worst treatment,in the series. |

I haven't seen all of it yet, but from what I've seen, Seed so far is kinda good, I say that mainly for Cagalli =P. As for Seed Destiny, yeah, from what I hear, it ain't all good, I mean, the only thing I like so far from it is the Destiny Gundam, Akatsuki, and Stella... |

Oh, speaking about seiyuu, and Cagalli... so I heard a rumor that Naomi Shindo is finally willing to reprise Cagalli's cast again in the upcoming G Gen World.... is that true?  If it's true... Then I guess Cagalli making it to future Gundam games including GW wouldn't be an impossible wishlist anymore.

Naomi Shindou's contract stipulation will always require a near-full revision of Destiny's storyline in whatever work involves her voicing Cagalli.

I wonder why she pulled out from SRWZ, then. All the data for Cagalli was there and waiting to be used, they just lacked her voice in order to actually make her a full-fledged character. |

I originally messed up by watching Destiny first, then Seed (only way I could watch them at the time was on rented DVDs and only Destiny was available). But it didn't ruin the experience for me. Even though Seed and Destiny have their flaws they're still my favourite Gundam series'. I always liked the suit designs and the characters. Really clicked with Athrun and the whole 'who's the bad guy' thing... Talking about it makes me want to watch the whole thing again :c |

I have to personally hold a degree of respect for Gundam Seed and Seed Destiny mainly due to the fact that they were the first 2 gundam series that seriously got me into Gundam. Sure, I watched a little bit of Gundam Wing back when I was younger but never enough to seriously interest me in Gundam as a series. Seed and Seed Destiny are basically what introduced me to Gundam. What originally got me into the Universal century however was the original Dynasty Warriors Gundam.  Looking back at both series however I really feel like they wasted a lot of opprotunities particularly with Seed Destiny. I liked Seed mainly because Rau Le Creuset was a respectable villain and they showed no mercy with it's ending. Seed Destiny however began to collapse after the halfway point. It was clear that Shinn was supposed to be the main character from the get go but he quickly became the clueless puppet and was replaced by Kira and Athrun. It's a shame because looking back at it now it looks like Shinn could have been the Seed Destiny version of Kamille Bidan. That being said, Rey was also a dissapointment. I was waiting for the second coming of Rau Le Creuset but his breakdown at the end was so anti climatic  . Furthermore, Cagalli's character was so frustratingly useless during the majority of Destiny. Plus the entire final battle was a near perfect for Kira and Athrun. The Strike Freedom and the Infinite Justice sustained no major damage and both the Legend and the Destiny were completely destroyed. I thought that Durandel would have some sort of Ace up his sleeve (like maybe a suit of his own) but the battle was pretty much flawless after the defeats of Rey and Shinn. Oh and Mu La Flaga should not have come back. I'm sorry but everything at the end of Seed points to his death. Heck you even see his ruined helmet floating in space at the end. I have nothing against Mu as a character it just seems seriously unrealistic for him to survive the ending events of Seed. |

I thought seed was a bad show but it was at least bearable Destiny on the other hand was a trainwreck...It started off decent but later on it got really bad...The fukudas completely wasted the potential that shinn had...He could have been great....seemed fukuda made him a weaker pilot after destiny gundam was brought in The final battles were a let down and pretty one sided with kira and Athrun pwning everyone.... @ Blackkite, Grand Gundam or anyone else who may know what im talking about Whenever Seed/Destiny is discussed the behind the scenes rumors are always brought up...I've heard numerous times that the cast and the writing staff for GSD had problems with each other and it affected plot and outcome of the show.... One instance was that Kenichi Suzumura (Shinn's Seiyuu) constantly clashed with fukuda's wife and may have lead to the change in shinn's role in the later eps.... Another is rumor is that Souichiro Hoshi (Kira's seiyuu) Demanded more screen time for kira.. Its been said that the the alleged real life staff problems lead to a script change for the second half of the show and that there was originally a different set of events and ending got scrapped in favor for what became the actual ending how much of this is true and how much isnt? BTW I agree with wesker's point about shinn....its pretty clear he was meant to be the hero early on but was reduced to being a yes man to dullindal near the end...Like a said before it appears he became worse as a pilot as the show progressed culminating with his subpar performance with the destiny gundam Edited by Strider Seiryu, Feb 10 2011, 07:18 PM.

Shinn did become a mindless puppet who spent most of his time blindly following orders later on in destiny. At first I didn't mind it but as I started to think about it it became more annoying. In the end it didn't effect things too much for me since I didn't like him as a character, and I reveled in the fact that during the last battle Athrun completely lost his temper with Shinn and destroyed Destiny. Guess it all depends what your character preferences are though. |

We'll likely never know the full extent of the truth, at this point. All the same though, it's little hints here and there that just do a lot to point to what kind of things did go on. Such as how Cagalli's voice actress has vowed to "never voice the character again" after Destiny ended, while Shinn's voice actor has gone on to say that the Shinn in SRWZ is the "real one in his heart". Then there's the whole mess that describes the now effectively vaporware SEED movie. While Fukuda's wife's cancer has been described as a main thing that has put a wrench in plans now, I wouldn't be surprised if it was more of a thing that most are just happy that there's a nice excuse to make it so that they DO NOT have to work with Fukuda's production crew again, if they didn't have to. After all, it's not like Hoshi and them need Fukuda in order to keep voicing the SEED cast in various game appearances and the like.

Well Destiny became way too comercial,and bended to the kira fans too much. Half the cast lacked development, Shinn may have been a 'yes boy' but he was a soldier, unlike kira. But what urks me and has for quite sometime,is you dont see Dullindal and Talia die, its implied but not really confirmed. and wth was with rey calling talia 'mother' at the end  |

How was Kira not a soldier? Kira joined the EASF in Seed as an Ensign and was just as much one as Amuro or Kamille or Judau after that he’s a member of TSA which is basically the remnants of the ORB army so he's just as much a soldier there as any of the Zeon remnant forces in UC are like Gato In Destiny he has stopped fighting at the beginning and is effectively retired but is still listed as an Ensign in the Orb army (if Gundam Wiki is to be believed) he then goes rouge with the Archangel before returning to the Orb army as a blinking Admiral before finally joining the ZAFT army as a White Coat He might not have had normal training like Shinn but he most likely went though MS tests and training in Seed while a member of the EA and he's just as much a solider as Amuro was in MSG or Kamille in Zeta. |
