If anyone has been paying attention to the situation in Egypt, im sure you would know about the resignation of the President Honsi Mubarak, who had been in office for around 30 years. His resignation coming as a result of the mass protest by the Egyptian public and now power has been handed over to the military.

Its going to be interesting to see how things progress from here . . . but it has been amazing to see what has happened so far, but now there seems to be a bit of a reaction within the rest of the Arab world, which should make things fairly interesting.

I followed this somewhat carefully, since I've never really seen a proper revolution before. People always talk about the breaking down of the Berlin Wall, but that was way before my time. Actually seeing the public defeat the supposedly corrupt 'leader' was something I didn;t think I'd ever see IRL.

Anyways, atm, Egypt could go either imo. The fact that the military is in charge irks me a little, although judging by their extremely sensible behaviour so far, perhaps it's nothing to worry about (the Egyptian citizens still trust them too). Although Mubarak was essentially a dictator, he managed to keep peace within Egypt (as far as I'm aware of) for a long time. Hopefully, Islamist extremists and pro-Sharia politicians won't get a foothold over there.

Good luck, Egypt!

Well I live a bit near Egypt and I know tens and tens of Egyptians, I won't go extreme when I say I don't know ANYONE who likes Mubarak, like at all. I've asked many of them, most blindly hate him and when they are asked of the reasons they say it in a hatred-full way.. makes me think that the political discord between the president and his people has turned to a personal rivalry. Few however, used reason to say why they hate him.

Anyways, it's their will and freedom, and they know better than us. Plus, pretty much all of them gave me some very solid issues and information of dictatorous activies he did. But from what I can gather, he's a good military leader and managed to hold his land safe (we know Egypt as a warzone before he got in place) and was somewhat okay in his beginnings.. his sons and goverment officials seem to be super uper corrupt (Stole 70,000 million Egyptian pounds!)

Plus, it's a poor country. Many if not most of them have an extremely low income that can go to $2 a month. Most of the wealth in their country is within the hands of 2% of their population. They're either way too filthy rich, or way too poor. So if we see the hatred and the mass revolts, we shouldn't be surprised.

My only concern is that.. well the population surprasses 80 million individuals easy, and we saw how the protesters raised their demands even when Mubarak was making his late mendings, and most of them are still poor, so I'm worried that they might do it again for any worthless reason, specialy that it only took 1 million protesters to take Mubarak down. I mean come on, 80 millions can possible all like the new president, no? Plus, many political parties in Egypt and they might ignite the public easily, moreover, even now after Mubarak resigned, we can still see the protesters in their places.. probably celebrating it or warning the next president as they say :\

And I'm also worried it might pass to other countries. First in Tunsia, then Egypt, there are huge protests going on now in Yamen and Bahrain, plus, other arabian countries are also waiting for their turn (luckily, we probably will see nothing here in the Gulf, we love our rulers lol) and I heard Serbia is having protests too :\

It's about time. I don't think Hosni cares though, he probably swam in ginays by his beach house in Sharm el-Sheikh before he left. There is a chance he might be here in the UAE, right in the middle of the capital city in a palace we gave him. I don't think we'll be seeing him at the mall or anything lol.

That's true, but not good enough seeing how it went at the expense of the Egyptians. A lot, if not most protesters were young college grads getting paid around three-hundred Egyptian pounds a month, that's ridiculous.

Surprisingly, they weren't interested in anything of the sort.

I think the current complaints are towards the media and how they stayed on Mubarak's side right up until he left, where they immediately started kissing protester ass.

Any protests in the Gulf will simply end with the demands of the protesters met, which will probably be all about money and wages, which can be taken care of effortlessly in Gulf countries.

The real importance is all the North African countries and some countries in the middle earth. This is a revolution among men to overthrow their long lived but unwanted gouvernment. It is a Domino effect. Mubarak's resignition only gives extra strength and will to the people in the countries that are going to demonstrate now.

I like how because this revolt was successful, so many other countries and organizations are protesting now too. I can understand the situation in the Middle east, but here in the states, to see a school district in Wisconsin compare their budget problems to that of the Egyptians?

Really? Way to suck off of someone else's success, because those ebil school district counselors sure are up to par with "tyrannical president".
