Umm... this isn't the playground, people are entitled to their own opinions. We were discussing favourite KINGDOM's. As a whole I prefer Shu, but Zhou Yu is one of my favourite characters in Dynasty Warriors... Edited by Frayling0, Fri Feb 25, 2011 11:14 pm.

Really? I'd alway seen Shu as being the most "anime-like". What with the typical hero-types in Zhao Yun and Ma Chao (and more recently Liu Bei) and it's added to by the new inclusion of the happy couple. Though maybe it's just my Wu bias talking right now.

^This. Couldn'tve said it better myself. And of course I have favorite/preferred characters from each faction. Oddly enough I've never seen one particular faction as the bad guys despite the Shu-bias that's pretty apparent. |

It's probably the same reason I have Lian Shi as my signature. I like Lian Shi. Maybe Zhou Yu is one of his favorites? ![]()
Wu has the sexiest guys, I'll give you that. ![]() Wu was my favorite in DW3, mainly because of Da Qiao and Sun Ce. DW4 converted me to a Shu Loyalist.

You just made Friday amazing. I do have to agree with Benzod, a little bit. Yes, Shu may be seen as an anime at times, but that goes for all the other forces as well. Dynasty Warriors actually reminds me of a dramatic, hack-and-slash, anime video game. But that isn't a bad thing.

Heroes alone don't indicate anime to me. Heroics are too universal for me to make that sort of connection. Zhao Yun definitely fits the mold though, as he's a blatant Mary Sue, as archetypal as they come in anime. But that is easily balanced out by Guan Yu and Zhang Fei's authentic feel. I'm talking about the designs of Wu overall though. The Qiaos being themselves. Gan Ning's shounen-esque spiky hair do. Ling tong's silly posture and hairstyle. Zhou Tai, wielding a Katana. Lu Xun being the young boy victim to uncountable yaoi pairing ponderings--seemingly with Zhou Yu the most. lol. |

Actually, I could probably write an essay about how every character in DW portends to an anime cliche or trend. It goes hand-in-hand with Japanese culture itself. I've always been a Wei guy, but there are of course characters I really like from Shu and Wu as well. |

About Favorite kingdom I will say Wei definitly!! Although I love my girls from Wu Shu....Its ok but hate it cuz they always get the spot light and are always seen as the "good guys" while Wei are always seen as bad(which historically were not), Wu is seen as Neutral |

I've never seen Wei portrayed as bad guys in Koei's games. They are more or less the anti-heroes. Which is awesome. Hope they never lose that angle. |

Koei generally tends to portray them as tyrants it seems. Which has lessened in later games. I hope the attitude of Wei never changes either. But Xiahou Dun kinda looks like an evil villain in this with his purple leather coat/leather suit and eyepatch/giant sword. |

If I had to choose my favorite kingdom it would be Jin(now) because I know so much about them, also the color stands out, though Wen Yang and a few others are missing I'm fine with that because DW 8 or DW 7 DLC(not [highly] possible) is what I count on. Before DW 7 I was not a huge fan of any kingdom I just had my favorites from each kingdom because honestly all kingdoms are Epic,Gangsta, important, and have flaws, am I right? Jin does as well but to me they are the "Bad azz Peace makers." and once Wen Yang is in then you could say they are like the three kingdoms combined because They got Xiahou Ba[Shu], a lot of [Wei], and once they get Wen Yang and if correct he is from [Wu]. Just my opinion. |

That awful weapon Xiahou Dun had in DW6 says villain to me more than his trademark sword ever did, and Wei got a pretty sympathetic treatment in that game (Well, Cao Cao did anyway). I'm hoping it keeps up for DW7. |

I've always felt that it was Sima Yi who added that slightly villainous slant to Wei, everyone else, for the most part, were fine (yeah, some had anti-hero qualities to them as well) I hope Xu Zhu sits on people during his musou. Or atleasts eats em or something. |

Xiahou Dun only looked evil in Dynasty Warriors 2 and 3 for me. After 3, he just became too stylish too and aloof for me to think of him as villainous. I gotta say though, Xu Huang comes off as the most outright heroic of Wei. Edited by WhiteHorseRide, Fri Feb 25, 2011 11:42 pm.

"Pampered concubine?" Really now? Zhen's life was far from pampered, and as Celestial said; she was a wife. Cao Pi treated her like garbage and one of his other wives even convinced him to exile her and later ordered her to kill herself. Ontop of that, she was buried with her hair covering her face and her mouth filled with rice grain shells to "prevent her from complaining in the afterlife," or something to that effect. She's quite the tragic figure, historically speaking. I really wish Koei would work this angle, but they'd have to include Guo Nuwang.. And they don't seem to be fans of the multiple wife thing. Though they could just make Guo jealous of Zhen and not a wife if Cao Pi or something. |
