Reviews probably aren't that important to most people at this point. Whether you love the series or hate it, most people know what they are going to get when they pick up a Dynasty Warriors game. They will be choosing a historical figure and beating up lots of other historical figures. They will press Square and Triangle and Circle, or the XBox equivalents, a lot. The body count will be well over 200. They will probably be killed by some guy with weird antennae-headgear quite often.

I really doubt anyone is going to be interested in the series because of DW7 if they weren't interested before, even if reviews of 9 or 10 out of 10 fall from the sky like confetti. Having a better story mode or being able to switch weapons or having playable Deng Ai and Ma Dai are things that probably won't make any difference to people who don't like the series even if it's game-changing to those who do.
^ Totally agree with this. That is what exactly people are thinking in DW game.

I just don't care and play it myself, unlock secrets and stuff.

By the way, even though they re-use some stages from DW6, it's not that bad since the whole battle really changed.

This whole business about reuse of stages... is anyone aware if there is stage reuse in Story Mode or only in Conquest Mode? If it's Conquest Mode only I'm okay with it, but I'll be less happy if it makes its way into Story Mode as well.

Reviews are almost useless. Why? Because most of the reviewers get PAID for a great review score, if you don't pay them, the review score will be like .5/1 lower.

Especially since most of them make dumb mistakes (like IGN on Killzone 3, where they wrote the campaign pacing sucks at the end, and in the beginning wrote the campaign pacing was great) + they don't even play through most of ANY GAME. Like saying certain games are like 10-20 hours when really, they are 40-50.

Don't trust big review sites, usually those small *blogs* etc are more realistic and opinion based rather than being biased or paid.

Can't wait for the JP release, I want to watch some game play!

I would have no problem if they brought back all the old stages from DW6 as long as they add lots of new ones or alter the old ones a bit.

as the 10th anniversary title, i don't have a problem with reusing old maps from past games if not for the nostalgia factor. In fact, i really want them to reuse maps from games going way back to those square DW2 maps.

what's the point in complaining about reused stages you'll notice the map pic but everything else is new so what's the difference it's the same shape but like thats really going to make u mad u probably wont even know the stage if not for the title they give u and key things like chi bi's ships

I dont think reusing maps is such a bad thing. Some maps are so memorable for the battles you play through in earlier titles. Though I do admit that DW4 was really bad about reusing maps, but other then that I still loved it. To me it doesn't matter, I'm gonna play DW7 till my fingers bleed.

I agree with this, I mean it will pretty much be impossible for it to be the EXACT same. Playing on it will always be different. I mean i doubt that playing through say...Mt. Ding Jun in DW6, and then bam at exactly 3 minutes 30 seconds in Xiahou Dun comes in to the battle. They will vary the events that happen. If they dont vary it, and the exact thing that happens in DW6 happens the exact same way at the exact same time in DW7 then KOEI will have reached a very low level  but I dont think that will happen :) so we should all be happy

I really liked DW6's map designs because of the elevated areas... possibly the only thing I like about DW6.

Mt. Ding Jun was probably one of my favorite maps. If Luo Yang is as awesome as Xu Chang was in DW6, I'll be the happiest man on the world.

Ditto.

I really liked the Hu Lao Gate map from DW4 where it's shaped like a "T"....at least I think that was DW4.

I loved almost every map from DW6, I just wish they had included more. If they design the DW7 stages like they did the DW6 ones, then I'm more than happy.

I don't think they will be remaking stages from DW4/5. They will only be adding new ones and remaking or just straight porting maps from DW6. For those who haven't played 6 or just played a while then those old maps will have a fresh new feeling.

you know what would be really cool if as in DLC new stages/maps it would make the game feel so fresh after awhile!

Also both GW2 and DW Strikeforce had new maps as DLC well I think....

So I've been looking at screenshots, trying to work out an answer to my question (whether recycled stages are in Story Mode as well as Conquest Mode). So far I haven't found any evidence they're in Story Mode:

The reused Cheng Du stage seen in a screenshot has a playable Lu Bu, so it can't be Story Mode unless Koei was using code we won't be able to. Also a panda, I'm not sure if they can be in Story Mode though.

Same for another few screenshots of a map... I forget what it was called, but it was the one in DW6 where Sun Ce and Liu Bei cooperate against Yuan Shu I think. Again Dong Zhuo is playable so it's unlikely to be Story Mode. I'm pretty sure it's that stage, anyway, near the northeast corner.

We've seen new maps for the Yellow Turban Rebellion and Hu Lao Gate if I'm not mistaken.

The only thing that worries me at the moment is these pictures. I believe I've seen a Chi Bi map so it's likely not recycled from DW6, but the Fan Castle, Guan Du and Cheng Du maps do look like their DW6 incarnations (and the fact that the kingdom names were added hint that they are the Story Mode stages). I'm really not sure about the Wu Zhang Plains picture, it looks similar but not identical though it's been a while since I played that game.

I say 'worries me' because seeing the new versions of classic stages like Mt. Ding Jun and Guan Du is a big part of the fun of a new DW game for me. I'll get over it if Story Mode has recycled stages, but it'll be my first really major gripe with the game. Though I'm fine with it if only Conquest Mode has them.

Edited: Also there were a few other stages I recognised from DW6 Empires in the screenshots, though the maps showed many enemies and very few allies, so I suspect they were from Conquest Mode.

That would be one of my main gripes too. DW6 maps were awesome but playing through them over and over in everyones Musou mode got boring. Too few maps is not a fun experience. Like I said before I won't mind some maps from DW6 but they have to be altered or updated in some way.

I dont know if this has been answered but can you play each side of the stage like Yellow Turbans and Liu Biao side?

Seriously that is an amazing score thank you Koei!

Ok you people really need to think about the map thing.

If Mt. Ding Jun is a DW6 map in chronicle mode....guess what its gonna be the same map in story mode. How weird would it be to have a different map when playing kingdom mode?

"O, hey look im at Mt Ding Jun again but it looks like im in a different place!"

It doesnt make practical sense.

And the reason Xu Chang was so cool in DW6 was the music:)

Nash: Almost certainly not, there is not Other Forces story mode.

superDioplus: Hmm, not a bad score, but... what's this about Xu Huang and the others? I don't get it I'm afraid.
