I don't ese why. I mean, they don't care about Guan Yu being buddies under Cao Cao than against him in the next battle. >_>
They did a pretty good job in 6's Guan Yu musou of explaining it better I thought.

My only grip about all the character designs is why couldn't they give Huang Gai some pants?

So the characters who don't have similar ex weapons are Zhen Ji, Cai Wenji, Diao Chan, Zhoung Hui, Wei Yan, Bao Sanniang, Ma Dai, Guo Huai, Deng Ai, Lian Shi, Xing Cai, Zhang Liao, Zhang He, SSX, and Taishi Ci? O_o
Wei Yan is same as Zhang Fei. Lu Bu is unique unless Xu Huang has a halberd instead of a pike.

I don't mind the way clones are done here because I can manage playing with my favorite of a group of clones. In 6 it was just absurd how many non-musou mode characters had the polearm.

That is why I hate Huang Gai this time around. I said earlier that I will definitely be putting on his other costumes. Im not going to enjoy playing as him anyway (never have and probably never will be).

Well sharp enough garrotes can instantly cut open the throat or behead someone in fiction.
it's been proved that they can in real life

i wouldn't want to be the guy that tested that!

after looking at the scan, Huang Gai has way too much skin showing, Xu Huang has a little too much white for my taste but the presentation is amazing, and Diao Chan is a little too wide for being so skinny.

i think this is the best Wei Yan design yet, i'm just curious to whats covering his face this time.
they used Ballistics gel , and bones, the get is as thick and strong as human skin, meat and bone, so it's good to test weapons on  the show it was on was called Deadliest Warrior

Deadliest warriors is one amazing show. It isn't possible to recreate Sima Yi's claws is it? I mean, weren't the wires hidden inside the gloves? I would love to make this weapon. Sorry about being off topic lol.

I specifically remember an excerpt of one episode where this guy knifes one of the gel dummies like a madman.

I saw the scans shortly after their reveal this morning.
But i was so tired, that i did not have the energy to give full opinions.
And i was very busy today. But here they are:

Xu Huang (8/10):
Looks good. A bit better than i thought. Very white. Nice turban.
Interesting sleeves. One stucks in his "glove" and the other hangs out.
Like those little trendy bits.

Gan Ning (8/10):
If he would have his hairs from DW5 or earlier, it would be nearly perfect.
Everything is cool. Maybe the place of the bells and the white pants are just a bit annoying. Tattoos and naked top are epic.

Huang Gai (6/10):
I dunno. That lether-mini is a absolutely "No".
Good, that they don't gave him a tanga.
Very yellow/orange. Miss his black hairs, but white is OK too. The rest is OK.
You girls are saying, that there could be some naked guys too, after all those naked girls? Well, you can have' em.

Pang Tong (7/10):
Not my favorite one, but positively surprised. That blurry pic weeks ago wasn't worthy of him.
Like the headdress a lot. But not the black/white sleeves.
Interesting "sandals?". How is he going to run with them. They run very fast in this game.

Wei Yan (7/10):
You know, he was my favorite character in the past. I still love him.
But i have expected something really special, after that DW6-look.
And he is one of those characters in DW7, which will be special because of his weapon. When he has his voulge on his side, i don't care anything.
Maybe i will even like his look more then.

Diao Chan (8/10):
Like some of you said it already, she looks not more so beautiful and pink, like in the past. She is still hot and so, of course. But also too dark.
Anyway, her look fits more to her story with Lu Bu and Dong Zhuo.
I liked her alternative "yellow dress and black hair" in DW6 the most.

Does anyone think Sima Yan will be in this game maybe as a child or baby? Or would that have already been confirmed?

As a UNPC likely.

Hell, even generics are pretty unique this time around, may need to redefine the term.

Call them NPCs. Since by all respects they are just non-playable characters with relatively unique looks.

Hammerpick is technically what Pang De uses, dual of them actually.
The T.Picks (Twin Picks) which in DWO EN/US is known as a Musou Spam weapon. Sorry if that sounds off topic...but hey...Pang De is in that game (as a general)...for the time being (whatever is left of the current scenario in DWO EN/US).

May sound sad but I've always loved the generics in DW. Without them the battles would be empty and pointless to a degree! I'm loving all the different types now though, will be hard to memorise which officer is which appearence type.

I have a feeling Sima Yan might be the generic in that mask... Someone has to be him anyway, He might be a generic but i still think hes a unique generic  Kinda like how Naoe Kanetsugu is on Sengoku Basara 3,

That was the truest of true musou attacks.

Anyways, about the characters. Pang Tong, Xu Huang, and Diao Chan improved. I don't know what the heck happened to Wei Yan, Huang Gai, (with his hot pants) and Gan Ning. I don't really care that Gan Ning got the chain sickle. It kinda fits his style in my opinion.

I honestly wouldn't want the characters to be any other way than they are now; character development is essential for any video-game, novel, etc. I personally grow bored if I see characters coming back throughout a series without any change in their personality, be it whether they grow up throughout the series, or end up becoming more childish; it keeps things juicy, and the beauty of adding new characters to a game's roster is that you can take old characteristics that the older characters formerly owned, revamp them, and implement them in the new characters.

I personally think that it's about time that Diao Chan got the change she needed; DW6 paved the way for a new Diao Chan; KOEI went all the way to get Diao Chan's background story exposed, and gave her substance, to the point that whether or not she is historically accurate, she provided a plot.

(Warning, below spoiler contains analysis of Diao Chan's storyline in Dynasty Warriors 6; enter at your own risk)
Spoiler: click to toggle

I am sorry about the slight rant/spoiler, but my point is, that Diao Chan's manipulative and self-conflicted character was always something she was; the only difference is that KOEI continued to work on those characteristics, and give her some form of development in personality and story. And of course, a change like that would also require a change in appearance.

It is important to note that most characters are designed in a way that represents their personality; it's not always about getting enough muscle on the males to keep the fangirls/fanboy's tongues panting, or showing enough cleavage for the same purpose; often, it is a subtle notation of who the person is.

Diao Chan's clothing in DW6 and DW7 are very dancer-esque, however they also represent the womanly wiles that Diao Chan does own behind the pretty face, due to the fact that they both flaunt and embrace the elegance of the female anatomy with her midriff exposed, her lithely legs being shown, and *ahem* childbearing hips that would make Amazon women gawk with envy.

However, there is nothing provocative, or sexual, about any of it; I do not see anything scandalous about a bellydancer's chemisette, or long skirts, or a sheer fabric set over the cleavage; Zhen Ji's outfits had similar characteristics in Dynasty Warriors 3, 4, and 5; in fact, it looked like one false move, and her chest itself would have ripped her top right in half. Fortunately, Diao Chan's breasts remain supple even in Dynasty Warriors 7. What I like about Diao Chan, is that KOEI figured out a way to keep her modesty while also giving Diao Chan an opportunity to flaunt herself a little bit.

I think that what's so deterring is the fact that it is an aberrant form of modesty that Diao Chan is working with, rather than the modesty that, say, a nun would have or a much younger female.

She is no modest woman who is unaware of what she can do to a man by just using her beauty and a demure facade, and this is represented by the fact that her face, throughout the series, always had something entrancing about it that brings someone's attention to her. Diao Chan was always enigmatic in appearance. In fact, it seems that until now, she was the only character in the series with blue eyes/lightest eyes that weren't a shade of brown. Now, we see Cao Pi with blue eyes as well, and a few other characters.

The new Diao Chan will take some time to get used to, but I do think that once the game releases, and she is played in Chronicle Mode, she may become one of the most adored females in Dynasty Warriors 7.

Yes it's been said there will be a promotional video 3/3 (3rd March). This likely last PV before the Japanese release on the 10th will probably feature the KinKi Kids new song ''Time'' and will ultimately be the trailer we've been waiting for.

If you want or need sleep in the coming hours. To tell you that for the lot of the kingdom PVs shown they have all been uploaded on the JP site between 7am-11am here (9-13 hours from now), FYI.

So please be patient, keep away from posting spam asking for the trailer and whatnot. Thanks in advance.

I'm actually happy about the delay...>_>

There are too many games coming out this month for me so this helps a bit. Black and White next weeks. Then Dissidia 012 comes out on the 22. So Dynasty Warriors pushed back a bit makes everything okay! :D
