*loads up video and stops after the first five seconds* Ugh, JIN. Is it sad that I haven't even played the game yet and I'm tired of the NEW KINGDOM SMELL already?

I'll put it on my list of things to do- play Jin last. Not only out of petty jealousy that they're getting a lot of attention, but Chronologically speaking it's a good idea and possibly a fitting ending to the overall story.

"We also brought back old favorites from the past games as well."

Poor unloved Pang De and Zuo Ci. If only you had been made pretty boys or had boobs you'd be here today. Alas!

On thing I am not really liking, at least in the Wang Yuanji clip, is how Yuan Shao is no-selling her regular S-String (but looks affected by her charge). I can understand if her attacks weren't that strong to begin with, but looks a little weird when you're hitting a guy and he's not even reacting to your shots.

And another tidbit, looks like the Pike/Glaive moveset is from DW6... I remember that moveset from anywhere, seeing as I played the **** out of a certain somebody to recognize that moveset's motions (watch when Xiahou Dun grabs the Pike/Glaive...). I want to feel like that was a cop-out, but... eh, I liked that moveset at least. o.O Though, one of the charges Dun uses looks like Sun Ce's spear moveset in DW6.

So I'm guessing they combined the two? Again, not complaining... I loved those movesets, so if anything it gives me hope that they could bring back some DW6 weapons as DLC.

Come on, bowblade and twin daggers (which will NOT go on Gan Ning for me...)

In the interview he mentions how we'll see the true endings of the three kingdoms, and they won't be happy ones - which is a great direction to take, I think. Koei could have easily slipped around parts of history (as the usually do with DW games) but seeing each kingdom get dismantled and see China eventually taken by Jin is going to make for some good cut-scenes and emotional battles I hope.

New GDC video up, an interview with a bit more english gameplay.

http://gdc.gamespot.com/video/6302218/?tag=top_stories%3Btitle%3B1

Seems mostly the same gameplay but it's mostly for the interview.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZfXr90rWFIQ

Uploaded interview to Youtube for same reason as last time, if any gamespot troubles, or if you just prefer Youtube.

Yes, you will be using Jin last ;) The achievements lists revealed earlier today confirm that you can't play as Jin until you've done the 3 Kingdom stories :shifty:

Which is great, right? Jin should be last since it'll probably make things more emotional and meaningful. You'll have played the three kingdoms, got to know their characters and probably like a lot of them... Then you'll have to watch as they crumble one by one!

I love bad endings, adds that sentimental depth many stories lack :kurokan:

Herpderp. See, now I avoid reading Achievement/Trophies lists to avoid spoilers. And admittedly I didn't do the usual 'skim through ten pages of stuff'.

So... :meantongue:

Can't help but feel a huge sense of 'why bother' though, when I'm playing through the other kingdoms, if I pretty much know all their efforts will be for naught. It's realistic that not every side is going to win, and follows with the novel, so any complaint from me at this point is piss in the wind.

Can't wait for the NEW KINGDOM SMELL to wear out, though.

Edit: I don't hate "Sad Endings" by default, though it would depend on its execution and other variables along the way. Sad ending for the sake of a sad ending is just as bad as a happu ending for the sake of happy endings. I can handle bittersweet endings, and so long as it doesn't feel as if I've just wasted my time having played the other kingdoms, it's all good.

I'll be occupying my time with Dissidia Duodecim my self.

@ChibiGingi

I'm the same way with Achievement and Trophy list, I try to avoid them since they like to give spoilers, but then again..it's a Dynasty Warriors game, you already know who's going to win what.

I meant Achievement/Trophy list in general, actually. And the herpderp was directed at myself- I suppose I must reiterate every tiny thing for you, yes?

Edit

@Wolvesfable- Yes, that much is true. Though, considering the last couple of games had taken what we all know happens at the end and flushes it down a toilet for the sake of 'EVERYONE LIVES HAPPILY EVER AFTER', it's refreshing to see them actually making things more historically accurate, as well as dramatic.

I'm going to miss the party boat endings, but for the sake of better narrative, I will accept bittersweet endings.

Im in for some bittersweet or even a bad ending for one or two kingdoms, but having Jin get the only happy end would be boring to me.

It's like the game is telling me "Oh finished Wu Shu and Wei? *slap* Well it doesnt matter! Jin wins at the end anyways!"

My sentiments exactly... I know it's war and not everyone will have a "happy ending", but at the same time, it'll also seem very tiresome and can get too depressing.

Of course, the other kingdoms could have a happy ending in their OWN right (well, 'cept maybe Shu). Wei can end with a "blissfully unaware of trouble lurking in the shadows", and Wu, seeing as the tyrantical douchebag of a ruler they get in the end isn't playable and not many of the really late Wu characters are playable, could end similarly to Wei, or perhaps can afford to be bittersweet (though who would be there at the fall of Wu to reflect back how far their kingdom has fallen?).

I suppose, so long as the main kingdoms' endings are "happy" or bittersweet, then Jin grounding them all into dust at the end won't be so bad. But if all of them end with "AND THEY ALL DIE, NO HAPPINESS" but Jin gets the party boat, then it'd feel like a waste of time.

Far be it from me to call it hypocritical that the endings are going to be historically/novel accurate, when they still have completely fictional additions to the cast.

I thought they confirmed it as combinations, or at least someone here had did the math to figure out how many weapons there are and how they can be combined.

What I meant was that it looked like they took the clone Pike and Spear moveset from DW6 and combined them into a single moveset. The motions that Xiahou Dun was using looked like the regular S-String for the pike, but one of his charge strings resembled the charge string from the Spear (mainly the spinning part- I remember it vaguely because one of my edit officers used that weapon and I found it amusing to watch).

Not sure if what I said makes any sense- I've used those two movesets the most in Empires that I feel as if I know them both. Or, this stressful week of work is getting to me and has turned me into a bigger, blabbering idiot. Both are acceptable answers at this point.

Mardi Gras and Dragon Age 2 can't come fast enough to save my sanity.

Well...yeah. But moreso because now I can read it and it's distracting and honestly looks out of place. When it was in Japanese it was just a pretty piece of graphics that blended in well, lol.
