Xu Huang was actually decently smart he just isn't portrayed that way in the novel because the author is very heavily shu biased and made every wei guy seem, arrogant, evil, or stupid.
That's a pretty bold statement to make without much historical evidence. =P. Keep in mind that DWs games are based of ROTTK(the novel). Also at least 70% of the content in the novel is pretty in line with the historical records if you have read the Sanguo Zhi(Chronicles of the Three Kingdoms). There are only certain things that Luo Guanzhong changed just to make the story enjoyable to the general audience at that time. ;)

But ya almost all my friends play halo, CoD, sports games, racing games, and WoW. Most of them think dw is gay for some reason, maybe because the names are really asian? I'm not sure though, something about the game though is usually unappealing to the average American teenager.

That's exactly why every American or western game critic or website gives the game a crappy rating everytime DW games comes out. Most western audience aren't into Asian based historical games. If you ever go to Asia, the Dynasty Warriors francise is so popular practical every teen or gamers has at least heard about the game or played it. DW is extremely popular in Asia compared to the western world.
he was pretty smart. he made han fan surrender without any blood shed by writing a letter of persuation and shooting it on an arrow into their castle. also while facing guan yu Knowing that most of his soldiers were composed of new recruits without training, Xu did not go into battle straight away but camped behind the enemy to impose a deterrence effect. Meanwhile, he instructed his men to dig trenches around the nearby enemy city of Yancheng () in a pretense to cut off supplies into the city. The enemies were deceived and abandoned their position. Xu then established a foothold in Yan.
so ya he was a pretty smart guy
I'm kinda lost on what exactly you're talking about here. Han Fan? Yan, the state of Yan? Are you talking about the Dynasty Warriors(the novel) or the exact history?

I don't think using sources from wikipedia is pretty reliable. lol.

Keep in mind we're talking about Dynasty Warriors(the novel based game), not the history of Xu Huang's achievements, which I agree he was a bit more brighter in history.
you talked about the last guy saying something bold without historical evidence so i brought you historical evidence. you cant say you want historical evidence and then say it doesent matter cuz we're talking about the game lol

I suggest reading the Art of War by Sun Tzu if you enjoy the RoTK Novels. Mostly because Sun Tzu was an awesome BAMF that I approve of. That and you'll find that neraly everything said can be taken and placed into another situation almost perfectly.

We can all agree a lot of the other generals in wu and shu were a lot more brilliant than in the novel while some shu generals are overexaggerated (best example guan yu no explanation needed. It just irks me how much attention he gets. You can bash through pms. I acknowledge his skills as a warrior but as stratigest and politican he fails.)

Well back to the game and off the history discussion...........Really not much to talk about but that is a lot of content to last for 60 hours if you intend to go all the way.

Edit: @SazukeEx, so true. I read the book and I remember something like saying sending your forces to the left you weaken the right etc. Which is what Guan Yu did at fancheng, by sending his forces everything, he was weak on very front.

If you're really interested in Xu Huang, here's a good site for more information about. The unstated source you were using was probably from wikipedia. lol

Xu Huang SGZ Bio from a member at the-scholars.

This is a more accurate historical biography.

so i read the entire article on xu huang you gave me. thank you again it was very helpful. but i stand by my statement that he was a smart man. all my prior wikipedia facts were backed up by the article and on top of that the article said this.Xu Huang was thrifty and cautious. Every time during battles, he would often send his scouts over long distances. Often, he would pretend to fight a losing battle, then suddenly turned on them and fight bravely and defeat the enemies.
which is smart in my book.

Well, yes he was definitely a lot better general historically, that's something I've never argued against lol.

Except Dynasty Warriors pretty much omitted this information about him, because the game was based on the novel and the novel never discussed this information, the novel portrayed him as an incompetent general at times.

I agree. Certain additions include Cao Cao's notes, and Zhuge Liang's commentary on generals.

The renders are killing me; editing is so entertaining, yet, very annoying with the lack of transparent background... And it's making it absolutely unbearable to wait until the 29th. I am so bloody desperate to play.

... And right now I'm hoping that they keep the marriage-system in the next Empires, because I'm photoshopping the bloody hell out of Diao Chan and Cao Pi's render, and fantasizing.

... I really need to pick up on a new hobby, maybe stamp-collecting... Actually, is it still considered humane to collect butterflies? I mean, I've tried doing it, but it doesn't come out as pretty as they do in exhibitions. Maybe I'm not smashing them in between the pages right; I think they need to be incapacitated first. :ot:

... I need to stop drinking coffee at 2 A.M.

ANYWAY!

Am I the only one who is ecstatic about the new approach towards the camera-mechanisms during gameplay? I don't know how to describe the way it looks, but it seems to operate far more differently than in the DW 4-6 predecessors. It is a lot more fluid.

That, and does anybody know if the stereoscopic-3D is still be implemented into gameplay?

I still have to wait 3 weeks but I can tolerate that. I waited for sc2 and ssbb I can easily handle these 3 weeks as mere peanuts. Besides, I'll have da2 to entertain me.

I'm going to start with Shu first... Only because I am not crazy about the Shu Kingdom... Just Jiang Wei... Oh, and I guess that the idea of conquering China using an adorably lethal yo-yo is also enticing.

Wu would be second, and then I'll save Wei for last.

I think I'll choose Shu again because I like traditions and I've had one where I play Shu first in every main-stream game. But thats just me hehe ^_^

So was the A.I any good Sluggo? I'm the most jealous person in this world right nowz..... grrr.

@Verlyn Zephyr, sadly you won't be able to conquer all of China with a yoyo in Kingdom Mode, lol, as the story will be more true to the novel and depict the true victors of conquering China as Jin. But if your talking about Chronicle Mode or thinking about using the yoyo with another character then don't mind this comment :)

Btw, I just wanted to ask who do you guys think will be the last standing character out of each kingdom besides Jin, and of course the Unaligned? I think Xing Cai will be the last character for Shu (well either her or Jiang Wei :hmmm: ), Probably Ding Feng for Wu and.... I have no idea for Wei......

Going to do Shu first for a few reasons. Mainly they were the first to fall and I want to see if there is an Osaka castle-esque moments for Jiang wei. And it has Ma Chao and I want to try out Ma Dai.

Ha ha, difficult question. I might have seen them, but I cant read Japanese, so I wouldnt recognize them anyway.

I can tell you that a healthy handful of generic proudly wear handlebar mustaches for some reason, so one of them probably has one.

@ParagonofLight
Good point, Ill try and fix that.
