This isn't a game breaker for me by any means, but I agree with the complaints about Kingdom Mode. In Wei and Wu's stories in particular, they really could have increased the number of characters you played as and told the same story (or even a better one).

With Wu, keeping the same stages in mind, this is what I would have done:

Spoiler: click to toggle

There, you get to play as every character in Wu at least once. I understand not wanting to give the female characters (except Lian Shi, who is inexplicably everywhere) a lot of stages, but not having them show up in the story whatsoever is simply inexplicable considering that we have Bao San Niang, Yue Ying, and Xing Cai popping up in Shu's story and playing big roles.

stupid game 2011 is this 1 if not all characters r playable in Cronicle mode and where are the 4th weapons?
Umm... stupid user 2011???

ALL characters are available in Conquest Mode, they just aren't all playable from the start.

4th weapons (or should I say, unique, they're not necessarily 4th) are available for EVERY character, we just haven't seen them yet. Give people a chance, the game isn't even officially out till tomorrow!

I hate the fact that you lose all the stuff you gain from a level if you die. I was playing a yellow turban rebellion as a low leveled Sun Jian and spent a long time killing 1000 enemies (including every general) before fighting the boss. Wasn't paying attention to my health and he killed me, I lost all those seals I MAXed on my weapons and the skill points I earned, ;__;.
That's a pain. :( Does the game allow you to interim save at all, or are you limited to the automatic saves that it gives you?
I'm sure it allows interim saves but I haven't tried them out yet since I can't read Japanese, lol. I'll take a look in my next battle. Just beat Zhang Jiao this time.

Just tried it and it worked, the pause menu is:
Weapons
Character (Skills, Movelist, Relations - only in Chronicle Mode, Change Outfit - only in Chronicle Mode before a battle)
Options
Interim Save
Quit Battle

I really like that list. And it would have been so easy to implement also :/

I don't want to complain too much, cause the mode itself looks awesome, but you have to admit this was really shoddy on Koei's part. I mean come on, how could they think this wouldn't annoy A LOT of their fans??

I certainly agree on some of the fixes on the Wu stages (such as removing Sun Quan from the yellow turban age), and I'm quite sure the same could be said of the other kingdoms, even within their chosen "frame" which I was referring to earlier. It is also true that the more you do that the more story mode feels like "demo mode" and for every Zhou Thai fan that gets pleased you'll displease Quiao fans even more, and so on

However, a couple of questions that popped up watching some streams:
- I've seen players do a musou attack (which never changes) visually with their EX weapon while having the other weapon equipped, what happens if your EX weapon isn't actually any of the two you're using, you do the musou with that anyway?
- Is it possible to resize the map window or make it go away? some of the "horizontal" stages reach half the screen
- Can you roll/sidestep?

I'm pretty sure AdawgDaFab, who has the game, confirmed there was 10 weapons for each weapon moveset. Some movesets (like the Dao and the spear) even get 11.

they know their fans and I guess they also know they'd complain anyway :D

and as I said before, unless you cram all 62 chars into story mode someone is bound to complain

but I still don't see what sun quan has got to do in a battle taking place when he was 5

I've just seen the biggest load of tosh on these forums in a while. Most of you haven't even played the game yet and already you are critising aspects of Kingdom Mode before you even started. Its this sort of pessimistic view people have before the disc even enters the console that really bugs me.

Yes there are flaws but you look at the horrible 1 based character musou modes of DW5 and you look at Kingdom Mode I would most definitely pick the latter. I'm not a DW7 fanboy because I haven't played it yet therefore not made my judgements. But can I remind all of you, if you play a game and you enjoy it then that game has done its job even I had fun playing Dynasty Warriors 6 even when I played as Xiahou Yuan with his cloned moveset at Mt Ding Jun I still enjoyed the battles.

Lets be happy we are getting a DW, the amount of hatred launched at Koei from its mistakes (rushing) in DW6 could have made them say ''Alright then lets screw the series and move on'' and not many people here want that I imagine. Lets have some optimism people. Games are for fun nothing else imo.

Phew that was a long speech.
Completely agree.

The thing that has annoyed me the most has been people who had only seen like an hour yesterday and said things like:

"Absolutely crap, can't believe Koei has done this! I'm not buying it any more!"

Just pathetic. I really hope those people DON'T buy it, at least they'll be the ones missing out. Who cares anyway? You cannot say that 7 is going to be worse than 6.

I think the fact EVERY character gets ONE stage (I know they get more, just making an example) in Conquest Mode is more than generous considering how large the cast now is. I'd pick Kingdom Mode over Musou Mode any day, it seems to be much more coherent. Though I agree it's a shame that certain characters have been left out, individual character stories in previous games seemed to breach canon. I didn't like the fact everybody seemed to have a 'happy' and convenient ending for the sake of their "story".

from what i've seen characters like Da Qiao should have stayed cut and new characters like Lian Shi and possibly Cai Wenji shouldn't have even been added. whats the point in them being there if they aren't doing anything and yeah i know they didn't do anything in history blah, blah, blah but still a bit of diversity is appreciated KOEI :kurokan:

All I can say is I've never come across the perfect game. Sure Koei have messed up with the character choosing for the stages but there's plenty of other things that are great about this game! I'm still gonna buy it no matter what :)

I tend to think of a good game as a game that you play nonstop and even a few years after and never get bored, that's the case with me with DW6, got nothing to achieve but I don't get bored playing it. Despite DW7 having flaws in some parts I think I'll love it to pieces!

Hence why I didn't generalise and I was talking about certain people... Did you ever announce dramatically that you weren't going to buy the game? No. You're not the kind of user I was talking about, I'm sorry if you took offence but it wasn't aimed at you.

No no I wasn't intending to be offended, was cracking a joke =P

People not willing to buy the game because one feature didn't pan out I'm not a fan of, if you aren't going to buy it don't, but don't come on here bitching up a storm about it, all it does is wane interest for people who haven't seen much on the game.

Also on another joke related note, your signature lacks Liu Shan =D the Meg of Shu.

I agree. I mean don't get me wrong I am a sad that some of my favourite characters, even ones which logically should have been included, have not been. But the game still looks great!

People are entitled to complain about it yes, but saying they wont buy the game is just stupid. You guys just have to stop huffing about one little thing you don't like, when the game has SO MUCH MORE to offer!

May I ask which Shu characters have been played, or if Shu Kingdom Mode has even been seen? I missed 4/5 hours this afternoon/evening.

@Shadowclaimer - I should get Liu Shan ;) Xing Cai in the middle... love triangle! I wanna know if that Xing Cai spoiler is true in Shu Kingdom Mode, that would be great to watch...

I don't know about the Kingdom Mode stages in Chronicle Mode yet. I'm sure they are in there, just not unlocked the moment you do them in KM. I've only played 3 Chronicle Mode stages and 2 Kingdom Mode stages. I've spent more time typing things up about the game since I've had access to it than actually playing it.

I CAN confirm however that playing with someone in KM unlocks them immediately in CM. Sun Ce has the second Wu KM stage. After beating it I had him unlocked in CM.

Cheers. I'm hoping at least one female gets a Kingdom Mode stage with Shu... ideally Ying or Xing Cai, and preferably not Sanniang aha XD Huang Zong makes sense... but Suo in Fan Castle! I see Guan Ping has been shafted, after his cameo 'opening the floodgate' role in 6 lol!

from what I have been hearing, it is indeed Bao who will get a stage, and Ying and Cai dont, keep in mind that its just a rumor, and wait for official word to confirm it.

Wait, so you play as Sun Ce for 5 stages?! Wootage, but a bit too much.

Yeah, hoping for the question above about free mode type in conquest, I want to play yellow turban, chi bi, etc with any character, but not sure how conquest will fill all of it, o.o
