Thats all well and true however we all know Koei will once again choose to redesign everything.. Im actually pretty surprised they used old maps to be fair... Dw8 might be alot better but who knows for sure how..
...We do?
What makes you so certain they'll redesign everything? Aside from DW6, they never drastically changed anything before. I'm hoping that they've become comfortable with the series once again.
I think DW8 will be the game that will show us exactly what DW will be for the long-haul. Which could either make or break the series for a lot of people in the West.
Yes, we do.. Because they redesign eeeeverything... Even in Samurai Warriros... They may not change them as much as Dw6 did but they still do nonetheless

I seriously wish everyone would remember that Koei is trying to get Dynasty Warriors back on its feet after the DW6 disaster.
I don't think anyone has the right to outright whine about DW7 at all. Being disappointed is expected, so is having complaints; but whining profusely? Think before you speak.

When DW8 rolls around and if characters are still moveset/weapon cloned, then I feel that whining would be valid because I can only assume that DW7 is Koei's attempt at giving us a DW game to play without making us wait too long while improving on what DW6 ruined.
I bet jump charges, rolling, and grapple attacks will return in DW8 as "new features" and the characters that were cloned withh be given their own EX weapons.
If you think about it, DW8 won't need to have a massive addition of characters like DW7 did due to Jin and the story expansion. So maybe they'll focus more on the quality of the the characters, gameplay and story-wise instead of the quantity.
So when you're forming opinions and thoughts about DW7, which most of you haven't even played yet, you might want to look at the circumstances surrounding what DW7 -as product- is. Try and see the game from a perspective other than that of a rabid fan.

As for me? I don't do the "Koei worship" thing. I call them on their BS, and I don't give a crap what any of the blinded fanboys/girls here have to say in their "defence." However, in this case I'll throw Koei a bone dispite the gripes that I have. If any of you have bothered to read through AdawgDaFAB's info thread and his posts you would know that the game is packed with content for us, throw in the improved storytelling and the DLC and I think Dynasty Warriors 7 is probably a more loaded product than any other DW game to date.

If you still want to mindlessly whine and bring up the "clone issue," have fun in the Complaints Thread.
I agree with this post, there will always be something in each DW installment that someone does not like.DW6 was a disaster, so many mistakes were in it.I remeber someone saying that Koei had said that DW6 would just be a step for the next gen game/graphics, and it was kind of like a practice run I guess you could say. But, with Dynasty Warriors 7, their putting everything into it.This installment will probably be as good as DW3, if not better. There are new modes/systems/characters in this people should get pumped for!

..I highly doubt they'll change the weapons and everything again... That just seems like an unrealistic scenario from a series that is known for it's mainstay style.
Character designs? Yes. Stages? Maybe. The core of the game? Yeah right.
That'd basically mean they'll be throwing everything they've worked for in DW7 out the window. They even kept some things from DW6 in this game so I think that speaks for itself.

@The Hero: I'm glad you agree. Though there's a high chance the people who've been complaining will be satiated once they play the game.
It always happens this way..

Personally, I'm fine with what we have. I would of liked a more varied line of characters for the Kingdom mode. Most of them are my favorites (some are overused though) but if there are battles in conquest mode like those of kingdom mode, and from what we've seen it does so I'll be content.

i posted a message on this one forum , basic, "are you getting DW7" thing, and all the messages are HATE towords the series saying it's always the same, and it's utter trash, i'm sick of people saying stuff like this, even the guy at gamestop said "are you sure you want to get that" when i pre ordered dW7. it's annoying. DW is not just about the gameplay, it's about story , that's the main reason i'm getting DW7, for the added story of Jin and the deeper story for the other kingdoms

As much as I understand what Koei is trying to do to rebuild from the blunder that is DW6 (despite its good points), what Koei should have done was to go where DW5 left off moveset-wise as (for the most part) at least everyone was unique. The weapon-change mechanic from Strikeforce was a good start, but add in some of the special attacks (without making them too over the top) from there as well. And given that some of the DW6 movesets were incorporated (Zhao Yun, Diao Chan), the fact that some of the past weapons are excluded (Especially twin fans) is inexcusable. Hopefully, with the appearance of the scythe as a DLC weapon, this problem will be remedied.

Kingdom mode, from what I've seen so far, is shaping up to be awesome and I would love to see it return with a few tweaks (giving an option to take alternate routes based on your actions like in DW4) and more importantly giving everyone a chance to shine, at the very least give one character a stage (I mean Xiahou Dun at Fan Castle? No Ma castle? Stories ending too soon? Really...). Sure people will be upset that there's no individual musou modes (mostly on the lines of "X deserves more screen time than Y! X is awesome/badass, Y sucks/is lame!"), but that's what Chronicle/Conquest Mode (which could also be expanded upon) could be for! If you want your favorite character to be the star, play that mode. Adding side stories, hidden cut scenes, if games like Phantasy Star Universe could do something like that, why not this one? Let's increase the playtime in each story mode.

Overall, the 29th can't come soon enough as I am stoked about this game, despite a few problems (Missing/absent characters in Kingdom Mode, DW7!Xiao Qiao, Da Qiao's whimpering pre-musou pose). I truly believe that DW8 is where it's really gonna bring it home. ...Asuming that the unpleasable fanbase doesn't whine and moan about how DW6's system was better and causing yet another redo.

Edit: Speaking of redos, is it really necessary to redesign the looks of the characters in every installment? While there are designs that I like more than others as well as despise more than others, sticking with the established designs could lead to other things/improvements to get more attention.

Some fans are already making fanfiction pairings? O_o

Well, than... Not one to be one up I hereby start the Wen Yang x Wang Yuanji pairing. Not only did he kill Sima Zhao's brother but is also the secret lover of his wife Dundundun~!

Took a quick glance back at the chapter I made a mistake and unnamed general caused chaos, Which was Wen Yang, I failed. XD Sorry bro.

Yep. 100% agreed, except I like DW7's Xiao Qiao since DW6 Xiao was an abomination.
I think that the twin fans were removes so that men would look more "normal" wielding the weapon since it's quite obvious that the stance and even the movements were not built with the Qiao's in mind. Same thing goes with Zhen's flute. Koei needs to stop catering to men in these areas because the appropriate characters are losing uniqueness and personality from it.
I'm also not a fan of "Lil sis Da" in this game. She's never been a wuss before so why is she suddenly so lackluster?

But, as we both pointed out; DW8 will be the game to look out for in terms of how to defind Dynasty Warriors at this point.
I'm excited for the twenty-ninth to come around so I can finally get my hands on this game!

That alone is why I'm hoping that the DLC movesets will replace certain characters' Ex/Musou attacks, especially with Da being one of them. I mean I'm definitely not one of the people who think that women should act like guys with breasts (god no), but I want them to at least have a backbone! Da just made me  and is now below Diao Chan and Lian Shi for my favorite females.

It's funny. You hate DW6!Xiao, I love her. I hate DW7!Xiao, you love her. Perhaps a compromise for her DW8 design (At least make her look like Zhou Yu wouldn't be on "To Catch A Predator")?

Yeah. I'm hoping for either twin fans or her batons back, anything to improve her personality downgrade..
I don't know who my favs are anymore, I've so many design and moveset/weapon gripes.. Give me a DLC EX boomerang for Zhu Rong and I'll be happy.

You think Xiao looks younger now than she did in DW6?
She was wearing a pink little girl's dress and her moveset was so childish. I like DW7 Xiao because it reminds me of her DW4 incarnation.
And unfortunately for Zhou Yu, I don't think anything can save him from being a potential "star" on 'To Catch a Predator'. Especially now that Vic Micnogna is voicing him..

Alright BS aside their only excuse is time. I guess they have a time limit, time has to be only issue.

Has any one seen Taishi Ci gameplay?

Also xiao qiao looks older than her DW 6 self and only reason to say otherwise is because you don't like her DW 7 outfit and that's just as real as I can put it a matter of fact they both look young around 16 if I had to guess maybe even younger. Though to be fair I've seen people act just as childish and be around 20 years old.

If you wanna get technical than Koei would still have to adda bunch of characters if they decide to flesh out Jin vs Wu and better elaborate more on the rebellions that occured in each of the Kingdoms.

Yeah, if Zhu Rong got her Boomerang back, it'd be the best of both worlds: The History nuts who want her to have her iconic throwing daggers, and the DW fans who want her to have her iconic boomerang. This is what the weapon change system is made for people! Now Dian Wei can have his Halberds and his Axe!

I didn't think Xiao's dress was a little girl's dress (Note in her artwork, Da was wearing the same thing). And I didn't even get the hint that her moveset was childish save for the run, maybe. At least she didn't fall over after a running attack anymore. If Xiao got something like her DW3 incarnation, I'll be happy.

How does Vic Mignogna have anything to do with being a "star" on "To Catch a Predator?" ...Is there some joke I'm missing?

I'm shipping Zhuge Dan with Wang Yuan Ji for multiple reasons, not just the way the two interact(or rather, how Zhuge Dan gets shifty and half-embarrassed at her saying positive things about him) but also because Sima Zhao is a stupid douche and ZD and WYJ are so far my favorite Jin characters.

However, I'm going to wait until I get DW7 before I go any further, just to be certain I didn't miss anything.

Also wow are those alternate colors stomach-turning. There's only like two or three good ones, the rest look like barf.

I couldn't agree more! I miss the boomerang so much..
Nothing on this Earth could make me like anything about DW6 Xiao.. :kurokan: And a hell yeah to Xiao (and Da) getting their DW3 outfits! Xiao's was the most mature looking out of all of her other looks.

And yes, you're missing something, it's not much of a joke more than a borderline fact. But nothing I'll bring up in this thread..
