After reading the past pages of posts about the EU delay...I don't really think that issue is really brought on by the Quake/Tsunami/Nuclear disaster in Japan. ...and don't say it's going to be delayed in the US. I agree with localization being one of the reasons why the game is 'delayed' for EU. I think my two favorite databook pics are of Lu Meng and Xiahou Dun. Doesn't anyone else notice that it seems like that Xiahou Dun is smiling in that picture (databook/weapon render, not artwork)? (as opposed to the CG artwork) Edited by Cairothi Ballad, Wed Mar 16, 2011 11:49 pm.

Zhuge Liang's ability as a strategist was extremely known through out the land at the time. But he is overreated on both game and novel. For example, it was Fa Zheng who planned the attack on Han Zhong and not him. But I easely bring him to the third position. In second, I would place Guan Yu : He's considered by taoists as a god of war and as a boddhisattva by the buddhists. I think it's pretty huge for a single man. And Cao Cao is truly number one : Became one of the most important figures in the era, was a known writer (we have some poems and military essays from him), and specially someone who was both a great ruler and an outstanding strategist. He was also the kind of man to win others heart. Zhao Yun, even if he's my favorite DW character, wouldn't even be in this list. I would maybe place in forth place Zhou Yu, who was the one who convinced Sun Quan to go battle at Chi Bi and prepared all plans to win the battle. Unlike the game and the novel, Zhuge Liang's role in Chi Bi was minor, the merit going to Zhou Yu and Huang Gai. In fifth, maybe Cao Pi, because he's the one who brought the end to the 400 year Han dynasty. Liu Bei would be 6th because from a straw sandals maker, he became a powerful lord. Then, I would be placing in 7th Sima Yan, because he was the one who unified China, even if it was just a few years. In 8th, I'd be placing both Sun Ce and Quan, the first to have conquered in a very short amount of time the whole Jiang Dong (a chinese Alexander the great) and have done more if he didn't die at the of 25 and Sun Quan for his long lasting prosperous rulership. Even Mao Zedong said that Sun Quan was an example of rulership. In 9th, I'd be putting Du Yu and Yang Hu, who conquered Wu, and thus unified the land for Sima Yan, in a single and same campaign. It was Yang Hu who suggested urgently the campaign but died before it. Sima Yan honored him by this statement that was more or less like this : "If it wasn't for Yang Hu, we wouldn't be here festing this achievement (conquering Wu)". And in tenth, out of ideas, I would be placing Liu Xie (Emperor Xian), last Emperor of the Han. But this is nothing more than my opinion... |

I dunno, I'd think Zhang Liao would be pretty high up there as well, he was pretty beastly. Plus if he had failed to hold the He Fei territory, who knows what would have happened? Of course I don't know the exact history, but I think that he deserves a spot up there. |

Can I just ask - to set the topic to rest for me at least. Someone who has the game: do you feel like you're playing lots of clones? Or do the unique ex and Musou attacks suffice? |

Thanks for the links. The attacks are pretty awesome. I have to say though, It seems that SOME of the characters who didnt get a story mode have less powerful specail attacks. Xu Huangs were pretty lackluster for example. (hes one of my fav characters so i'm kinda bummed) |

Think of it like this: -Xu Huang's EX attack is a reusable attack/defense buff, and that definitely equals more damage over time and longevity than what one single flashy attack that other people have can give. -Xu Huang's regular musou, meh, kinda plain looking, but this is exacerbated by the fact that the player literally only used it on like one person thus we can't see its effect well enough -Xu Huang's secondary musou is completely unblockable. This is excellent. Keeps in line with his unblockable roflcopter move. It would be awesome if they keep this unblockable motif for Xu Huang going for every game in the series. So yeah, all in all, Xu Huang is function over form, and that very much fits his pragmatic nature.

Personally I'm not a fan of the mangastyle for the dw7 art. To me Zhang He's art, is to similar to a picture Isaw of Vega years and years ago, pose lighting ect. |

Yeah, that's a good way to look at it. It would have helped to see it used on several enemies to see how big the area was. I'm def still maining him. |

Lol, the top ten characters in Dynasty Warriors article's writer is... Nah, I shouldn't use harsh words. " inferior in nearly every way in comparison to Zhuge Liang" - Him about Zhou Yu Yeah, better think twice before opening your mouth buddy. Anyway, I saw the Jin vid, and Xiahou Ba's second musou sure is flashy. |

More about Zhuge Liang The thing is, if not for Zhuge Liang, Shu would not have survived for 40 yrs after the loss of Jing and defeat at Yi Ling. Zhuge Liang's biggest strength is not his strategy, but his administrative skill. While later Wu and Wei indulged in inner chaos, Shu had political harmony because of the legacy Zhuge Liang left. That alone made him a top five character. While not as magical as the novel described, Zhuge Liang still is a talented strategist. His conversation with Liu Bei at LongZhong really changed Liu Bei's fortune, because his strategy gives Liu Bei a tangible plan to execute in order to unite China, and really laid the foundation for Shu Han. As a general, the man is exceptional too: In the Nanman campaign, he led the Shu Army all the way to Burma, from SiChuan!!! that is a pretty significant expedition, and greatly expanded Shu influence southward. But Northern Expedition, while ended with his death, still showed Liang's great skill and leadership. With less than 70,000 men, and most of them infantry, Liang is able to constantly attack Wei, a kingdom much larger and stronger than Shu, and force Wei generals, as capable as Sima Yi and Cao Zhen to be consistently on defense, to the point that they do not even dare to face the "inferior" Shu army on open battlefield, even though Wei has at least twice as many men and great cavalry. And when the two armies met on the battlefield, Liang destroyed Yi, and scored a great victory. Overall, Zhuge Liang is the number one administrator in the 3k era, the number three strategist behind Guo Jia and Jia Xu, and the number two general behind Cao Cao. That isn't bad at all. Yet his influence on Chinese is much more that, to many people he's the epitome of loyalty, the epitome of wisdom, and his relationship with Liu Bei one of the most ideal JunChen relationship ever. All of these make him a top three historical figure of the 3k period, if not number one. But here's my impactful rank: 1. Cao Cao -I don't like him, but he did make the biggest impact... 2. Liu Bei - The two heroes have to finish in the top two, and really, those are the two that could have unify the land and build a prosperous dynasty...The ideal emperor along with Liu Xiu 3. Zhuge Liang - for all of the things mentioned above. 4. Guan Yu - For being the best general and the most loyal retainer for Shu, for fighting two kingdoms with three prefectures, and for his unrivaled influence on Chinese. 5. Sima Yi - for setting the foundation for Jin 6. Jia Xu - for advising Li Jue to attack Chang An, and destroy the Han dynasty forever... 7. Zhou Yu - for winning the battle of ChiBi... but died too early... 8. Sun Ce - for building the Wu dynasty, Sun Quan didn't really do anything... 9. Yang Hu - He is the most influential in conquering Wu 10. Sima Yan - for ending the era. I replaced Cao Pi because by his time, Han exists in name only, and he didn't really do anything important during his reign beside several unsuccessful assault on WU. I replaced Sun Quan because while he's an okay ruler, he could never conquered the land of Jiang DOng if not for his brother, and because his poor later reign, which resulted in countless chaos after his death. I didn't put Liu XIe because, well, he has no impact on anyone, he's being impacted by everyone else, a tragic figure... |
