I like XY this time around. I was never really fond of him in the last games as he was like the temperamental fat dude, and I didn't like that. He was like the polar opposite of Xu Zhu.

This time around he's happy looking and has some charisma. Someone said he looks like an oldschool airplane ace with that scarf, and I agree. lol.

BUuuuut I like Xu Huang the best in Wei. I'd say he was as good as XY on average as a leader, but also good as Xu Zhu as a fighter. It was unintentionally hilarious in the scene where he and Xu Zhu get mad at each other because they are both competing over some prized silk robe, they started wrestling and then had to be broken up. It was so trivial. lol.

GUYS I'M SORRY!!!

I emailed Koei one night after a hot summer of smoking weed and drinking alcoholic beverages. I was crying over my copy of DW6 and I wrote:

"Koei, I am pissed as hell that Zhao Yun always gets the covers and the openings man. WTF did Xiahou Dun do to you? He is a smart badass who ate his own eye and fought with Lu Bu and GUAN YU!, please for DW7 can you give him more love? I want more love please, give me the love."

PS: Please get rid of the Renbu system.

^Needs emotional ellipses. Then I would have legitimately laughed. :(

For now I simply cracked a smile.

I do not know if this has already been posted...
But, DW7 is selling pretty well and topped Media Create's weekly sales charts:
http://www.andriasang.com/e/blog/2011/03/17/media_create_sales/

I thought it would not sell much because of the crisis in Japan...

I've always enjoyed Xiahou Dun over Xiahou Yuan because he just seems so much cooler and less generic. Koei never really seems to know what to do with Yuan, and it doesn't make it any better that poor Yuan is in the same lame cutlass moveset group. Dun looked cooler in the games, had a more unique moveset, and I must admit, I am a bit biased since he was my first ever Dynasty Warriors character way back in the days of DW3....

Then again, Koei doesn't really seem to know what to do with half of Wei these days. Cao Ren starts off as a midget with a buckler and evolves into a Gundam and then he's here in DW7 with a freakin' disproportionate upper body (I've only seen him in that one scan) and then they give Xu Huang that Egyptian motif but he's randomly swinging an axe around and has a generic 'I will be the best!' personality... We all don't even have to mention poor Xu Zhu...

At least they seem to have Cao Cao, Dun, and Zhang Liao down pretty well....and although Zhang He slowly goes more fairy up until DW6, at least his design is fairly consistent.

Regarding the Fan stage debate, I think that, as for the rest of the kingdom modes, the most important thing is that there be a coherent narrative, and so, having chosen to push Dun vs Guan, that's the natural end. It would have been different if they had settled on the more accurate Cao <-> Guan relationship perspective, and, similarly to Shu's kingdom mode, this would actually have allowed them to finish the kingdom mode with Cao Ren and Xu Huang without breaking the plot.

For the "heroes list" debate, I'm not a big fan of top 10s, to me it always seems like two or three that definitely should be there, and then many others that could or could not be on the list. Cao Cao and Zhuge Liang should definitely make the list, as well as Guan Yu, because of the legend these three actually became. Even though I always start playing with Shu I don't have much sympathy for Liu Bei or Shu-Han, for failing to see that the allotted time of the Han was over, and dragging China into a century of warfare over a principle. Of course, we would never know what China would have been had Liu Bei remained in the service of Cao Cao, so meh :p

I have to admit, Xiahou Yuan was pretty much one of those characters that was just there until DW4, i started to play him more, and loved his personality. Dun had this hot-headed stubborn/reckless personality that was unique in the games, but I still somehow favor Yuan. I also agree with ChibiGingi, his personality and career are somehow more appealing to me then Duns is. I know what you mean with Xu Chu also koei just majorly failed with him.

How about review mode by mode?
So you have played the tutorial mode, how about review the tutorial mode?

Then at last, after all the modes reviewed, give an overall review?

Thank you btw, your review will be awesome to read.

These last two weeks are killer. I've been trying to play DW5 and 6 to keep entertained, but lose interest. Also, I'm curious if generic officers will have interactions with each other, DW6 had a few that did. Hopefully they keep the 'Yan Liang, Wen Chou? Oh noez.' from Yuan Shao in, pretty sure it would be :P

Just had an email from Amazon: The game has been delayed, and I should have it sometime before the 9th. My estimated dispatch date is 6th-7th. It looks like the delay (for the EU at least) is definite then... because Amazon always seems to be last to catch onto news haha! Ah well... I'll carry on maxing out characters on Orochi 2 for another few weeks.

I think it's odd Koei haven't said anything yet. They obviously fear a flamestorm XD

I'm actually trying NOT to play any hack n slash games or anything similar to DW, that way it takes me longer to burn out on it.

I hope EU doesn't get a lame april fools surprise and get to know that it is delayed a week longer! If that is so, we want a Yuan Shu for EU only and he better have a unique moveset! Thanks in advance Koei.

They could have given Cao Ren the first part of the battle, finishing off with a Xiahou Dun vs. Guan Yu confrontation in part 2. Or they could have displayed Ren's tenacity in a nifty cut scene. Either way, we would see that Cao Ren had a pivotal defensive role at Fan. As it stands, he comes off like a mopey lump of uselessness for One-Eyed Poster Boy to rescue.

That's what I'm trying to say since the first time someone brought up the delay. Only the UK seems affected, all the french websites/retailers I know will be selling it on the 1st April.

Not sure why it's delayed for the UK only... but it seems pretty definite considering retailers have sent out emails of apology (i got one from Amazon earlier) I cannot see any logical reason why it's the pens, because that's for one shop in particular. If Europe is getting it at the previous date, I'm stumped. But of course, other country retailers could just be slow in taking action.

You can clearly see how distribution works: the game is produced in Austria and then shipped to European countries on horse carriages. Then when it reaches Calais it is moved onto a galleon and that is why there is a delay to the 8th for the UK :o
