I find it funny in a way that if this was any other action series and you told people they'd be able to select 62 characters and chose among 35 weapons classes to equip in pairs of two (well, ok, probably not all useful to each char), they'd go gaga and start dancing, yet in this series it's never enough. Unfortunately that is what happens when you have a decade long history of games and fandom. Would it be as bad if you considered characters and weapon selection separately, as in, you chose your character then chose a fighting style and another fighting style to switch to, regardless of whoever else may be at "top proficiency" with that weapon? There's RPGs where you don't have that many weapons to chose... In my opinion it only really becomes a problem if you either lack imagination and always chose the same weapons, or if you are maxing all characters in which case you're bound to start seeing doubles (in Ex weapons - and tbh I'd have cloned musou attacks too and linked them to the weapons): in one case you can only blame yourself, in the other case different long-term gameplay issues will probably start being more relevant than the moveset being cloned. Heck, most people playing the game won't even get what the whole discussion is about, and play 3-4 chars after having demoed some in kingdom mode.. I would probably be more negative toward this design choise were it not that I have not so fond memories of being forced to play musou modes of characters with horrible half-baked weapons and movesets, and that was far more aggravating than pretty much anything that is wrong on paper with this game. And as I said, most of these complaints seem to be coming strictly from people who did not play the game and only saw streams, whereas people who have the game seem to not care and are having a blast - which makes me kinda feel sorry for fans who rage-cancel their preorders for whatever reason. It's because we are used to the Dynasty Warriors games packing in a lot of content and weapons. Its why with DW6 people were unhappy because there were loads of cuts. People expect the new game to be much better than the old game and when Dw6 wasn't people started complaining. Must say that DW7 is a much improved game though. Plus its human nature to want more, i want every character to have a unique weapon moveset but it won't happen for DW7 Still getting the game though I don't get how people can cancel a pre order based on a stream... why pre order it in the first place...

Umm a issue here is really any game with clones will cause an issue. Then like I said a lot of times, imagination shouldn't even be in anything regarding clones lol, that is like saying you must pretend you see something unique even though it's the same dog on thing as you previousely used now I do want to ask is that what you saying? I'm not even being sarcastic if I read it wrong let me know because that's what I got out from it. Also to answer someones question I forgot the name but as for the faction battles I tried they Lacking some very noticeable things. Likely you compare them to story mode you'll be upset and I'm just talking about the simple not the seamless cutscenes, but like obstacles. Lol chi bi no fire lol what? Then I tried someones legend stage and it was like the prototype of the actual fan castle like no flood happened. Though I'm just pointing it out not sugar coating conquest mode, though it's an annoyance the game is fun just makes you bi polar lol. Though I'm really waiting on the English version so I'll have my own copy and my friend translated what was going on when we played together on his version. |

Don't worry, there are a few of us here amongst the Americans now panicking at a release date delay rumour The thing about the DLC proceeds going to charity is awesome. Koei are pretty generous, and the arguments the other day about them making profit from 'on disc DLC' are pretty much refuted now. Any news on the Senka? Anyone downloaded it? |

For Koei sake they have to lol, if not then I guess they better be a bundle of legend stages, if not then they are some what screwed lol. Also if DW 8 turns out like this money issue will definitely be BS lol because japan right now is making them alot. |

I was just on gamefaqs and I asked about weapons and seal limits. According to one poster the max number of seals you can equip doesn't change for different weapon types. Meaning the best Crescent Halberd has 3 slots and you can't ever obtain a Crescent Halberd with 5 slots. Is this true or is the poster mistaken? Just asking because I thought I read somewhere that it was possible to replay weapon stages to get better weapons. I just want to make sure because if the 3 seal slot limit is true for certain weapons my excitement for the game will take a hit and I may have to rethink my 1st day buy decision. I can't think of a single good reason to limit certain weapon types to 3 slots while others have 5.

It's true, the slots are set. Unfortunately... because some weaker weapons deserve more slots just like the feather fans, chakhams etc. |

Do you mean weaker as in base weapon power (ie halberd is 50 but some weapons are in the low to mid 20s)? That's extremely stupid on Koei's part since the greatest difference between attack that can result from different weapons can only be about 2 or 3% once a character is maxed out whereas 2 extra seals can provide a 40% increase in different stats. And why would they drop the weapon customization they had in previous games? That was a good feature and just needlessly dropping it makes no sense. What if I want to use a Halberd with lightning instead of death? Maybe I'm making too big a deal about this but I'm now seriously rethinking my decision to pick this game up day 1 which is funny considering that I had reserved time off just for this game. |

Let's say Lu Bu's lvl 10 weapon, it has 2 slots (If I remember correctly) and the power of the weapon is 40. Now, the feather fan's lvl 10 weapon (Sima Yi's) is power 20, but can equip up to 5 slots to boost it. To me this is rather fair. There is a seal which allows you one weapon to have two seals at the same time. Which means that you can have lighting seal and moon (death) seal at the same time for one weapon. Not bad I say since there is at least one weapon of the kind (element) which contains 5 slots. I mean, there is at least one weapon with 5 slots for element, Moon (death), Ice, Fire, Lighting. So it's fine, imo. |

That's not really fair. Once the characters are maxed they have attack approaching 900. At that point the 30 point difference doesn't even come close to justifying a 2 slot handicap. If everyone's max base attack was 800 then you are talking only a 4 %difference as a result of different weapon types (820 versus 850). That doesn't even justify a 1 slot handicap. Also I know about the seal but it still is stupid that I have to equip that seal in order to use lightning with my weapon of choice. Like I said before maybe I'm overreacting but the change in weapon customization options that they've had for the past 8(?) years (since SW1) does not make any sense and it's crushing my excitement because all of my favorite weapons (Crescent Halberd, Katana, Double Halberd, Claw Knuckle) have been arbitrarily handicapped for no reason. |

I do not see the point to debate with you anymore. I personally think this game has been developed very well already. The weapons are fair. To my knowledge, Sima Yi has never been a strong fighter such as the likes of Zhao Yun, Lu Bu etc. It is fair the some weapons to be weaker. If you take a look at the weapon and imagine you are seriously waving it... you cannot exactly hurt someone by waving winds using a feather fan or what not. As for your favourite weapons, they all have 3 slots, which is exactly the middle and which is what I call: fair. Those with 5 slots are to me, over powered. I bought the game, been playing it for 2 weeks and I am still loving it as if I just bought it. Our views are different, I can tell you that the weapons are fine. A game cannot please you 100%, if you are disturbed by the game this much, don't buy it. Koei don't need your £40 to live. I purchased the treasure set and I say, its well worth it. I didn't ask you to debate the issue in the 1st place. You stated why you think the limits are fair and I stated why I think they are pointless. You may be right that 5 slot weapons are overpowered. It still annoys me that I have fewer options with my weapons of choice. Edit: That reply came off ruder than I intended. Thanks for answering the question in the first place and I will just agree to disagree. Edited by lutadakatsu, Thu Mar 24, 2011 3:20 am.

Agreed with Tadakatsu. There is very poor balancing here as a five slot weapon will far over power a 3 slot weapon in versatility. The base weapon attack becomes absolutely miniscule at the max, and in the end it does not serve as a counter balance to more slots. a 30 point attack difference at max stats will be next to unnoticeable because by the percentages it would only count for a little bit of difference. But 2 extra slots? That makes a WORLD of difference in customization and power ups. Koei is always switching things up and taking things out, when often when they had a perfectly legit system that would keep anyone happy in prior games. There simply is no definitive DW as of yet if you're talking merely on gameplay systems and mechanics, as they all have things that the others don't have. Its irksome. |

Now, I don't know much about the weapons or stats, but is DW7 one of those games where a few points of difference is actually HUGE? Look at Dissidia. Characters will have 110ish attack if fully equiped. Take it down to say, 105, and you see a HUGE drop in damage. |

I've hold myself from ordering DW6 asia version which already released quite long time ago in Play-Asia. Why? Because I've watched CutScene spoilers from all the kingdoms so it fulfilled my wants already. Currently playing Sengoku Musou 3 Z, it's very challenging and the AI aren't dumb either. I wonder why there are a big difference between 2 games in 1 W-force team. |

For Koei games small point differences in weapons don't really have as much impact by the time you max every character out. In all the previous games the characters end up doing basically the same amount of damage regardless of base weapon strength. Realistically a 100 point difference in base weapon strength would not make as much difference as losing an item slot does considering how helpful some of the items are. The only way I could see this making any kind of sense is if the attack and defense increasing seals stop being effective if they put your attack/defense above 1000. If that's the case then you wouldn't necessarily need multiple seals to maximize characters damage output or defensive capabilities and the handicap from having a smaller number of seal slots wouldn't be as noticeable. |
