Zhen Ji with the whip... only one star? I find it weird.
I think the best weapon combo for her is: Flute + Whip.

And LOL - Cai Wenji with three stars on the pike.

Do you have my weapon guide open? There's a seals section.

https://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=0ApPr023YHYR0dGpHSU1LUzlhQTdnSjRxQjVOcXdmR2c&hl=en#gid=10

Unofficial names but effects are correct.
Thanks,

Sorry, this is my first time using Google apps so i didn't know everything was just on the tabs at the bottom. You've done so much work on this game, thanks so much for all of this info :) I like the way the seals work this time, gonna miss the old types from DW5 though (peacock urn etc...)

I've noticed that there are only 2 slots for most weapons, is there any way this can be increased or is it set for all weapons?

DW has been easy to break up into tiers ever since DW2.

It would have to be far more simplified before tiers become impossible/meaningless.

DW7 will probably be more tier heavy than ever, what with the heavy slot disparity that exist between some weapon classes.

Eh, this is true. I personally wasn't aware of any 'tier' system until DW Strikeforce, though- in that game, it was rather obvious that some characters were better than others. Or just the weapons themselves- Zhou Yu's staff and Ling Tong's three-sectioned-staff were among GODLY.

I guess I just never payed much attention to it before seeing as I neither played DW competitively with others before, or simply was ignorant.

Oh well, at least for once one of my favorites is in the A-Tier. Most of my favorites are bottom tier in fighting games and Pokemon. It's weird to naturally like a top tier.

Yea.. I don't really like competitive Pokemon anymore due to the fact my entire team is considered garbage tier by anyone's standards.

Amongst friends I still enjoy it though.

Don't jump the gun, we don't know have a tier gameplay wise yet.

Just for compatibility so far.

Xu Huang's quest for might gave him quite a bit of compatibility...but Lu Meng's quest for knowledge did him better it seems.

Oh the shame... :P

Oh btw. I know you aren't too found of Guan Yu, but if you want the best out of Lu Meng you'll probably be stuck carrying the Blue Dragon around as that is the best pike in the game. (has 3 item slots, the most for pikes) Sorry. :sly:

Though, not a fan of Tier system in any game, really. Competitive play in fighting games and Pokemon make my froth at the mouth when it comes to the dreadful TIER system.

Cubone belongs in the OU tier, darnit! :c

Haha, I completely agree with you. xD After researching the Dynasty Warriors tier system, I was surprised to learn that some of my favorites apparently sucked. Oh well! All that matters is how much you love them. /afterschoolspecialmoment

Same here. Oh, what's that, your favorite is Persian? DON'T USE PERSIAN! Use this pokemon instead! Don't like it? Loser! You will never win competitively!

Guess it's a good thing I really don't play competitively, but seeing as Pokemon has really taken a harder push towards competitive play as of late, I'm only getting half the game. The other half is metagaming. Fun.

HOPEFULLY, there will be little to none of that in DW7. I'd hate to be playing my game, all for some punk to run in and say 'LU MENG DOESN'T HAVE A HIGH ENOUGH PROFICIENCY WITH THAT- USE THIS WEAPON INSTEAD LOSER!'

Grrr. Strikeforce. This is why I played you offline.

Edit: @WhiteHorse. Eh, that doesn't bother me in the least, seeing as Lu Meng's weapon is just a colored palette swap of Blue Dragon anyways. Not sure why you and Trevor seem to think that I'd get so upset over that.

Though, I do miss his White Tiger from DW2-DW5. Not only did Guan Ping take it in DW6, he seems to have misplaced it so Meng can't get it back in DW7. Oh well. Blue Red Dragon will have to do.

Persian + Technician = win.

And I'll make someone cry if they tell me what to do with my Halberd wielding Pang Tong. :shifty:

Hehe, this could be fun. I may just put together a bunch of really unorthodox weapon combinations when I play online just for the heck of it.

You don't mess with my Persian. She'll make you cry. Nor my Leafeon (there's a funny story behind that, but not for this thread sadly. Going to go to bed now and have dreams with DW characters as Pokemon.)

Yeah, I'm sure that people will play whatever character they want with whatever weapon they want, regardless if they have high enough stars in it or not. If you like the character enough, then nothing should really stop you from enjoying that character.

Well... except maybe really bad voice acting, but you can always mute it.

Personally I ignore tier lists in their entirety. I decided how I play. I'll try to keep everyone with 2 or 3 star weapons, but that's more out of suitablity. If I really want to use a 1 star I'll gladly do it, and anyone online who says otherwise will quickly regret it ;)

What in the world? There is no list of features section. DW7 has a wealth of features that would increase interest and sales by at least 70%!

Pfft, tiers. Yes, they do have a purpose, and that is to demonstrate what character is MOST LIKELY to win. There have been very strong competitive players who use low tier characters to their highest potential and won before in the fighting game scene. Any serious gamer will tell you to use whoever you want because tiers assume that both players are of equal skill level, which is very rare....Anyone who rags on you for picking low tier characters is probably not very good themselves =P

Tl;dr, pick whoever you want and don't pay attention to other people if they call you out on it. If you can make it work, then do it. (Of course, this does not excuse people in cooperative games who drag the team down with poor skill/poor characters, but that's another story. Had they better skill with the poor character and knew how to actually play the character, that's another story)

I bet my Arbok could go toe-to-toe with yer Persian. :sly:

Screw tiers, my mantra's always been "play with whoever or whatever you like!"

I felt the same way too while typing it out.

Sidenote: Question to anyone with the English game: Do style names get mentioned at all? A bunch of quiz questions ask about them. That + their renewed effort to properly pronounce names has me hopefully they may finally incorporate the style names properly into the localized releases.

With the whole star system, I wonder if I'll be seeing a lot of Sky Scorcher/Halberd wielders online...Srtikeforce was full of those shurikens, not complaining just saying.

I thought they'd been gone since Warriors Orochi? At least to my knowledge.

While I'm happy to know that they are using more correct pronunciations, I have a feeling it'll take some getting use to for me. Now I know why my coworker looked at me funny when I said "Zhang" instead of pronouncing it "Zhong".

So wait...people pay attention to tiers in DW now?

Never was a fan of them in general, that's why I support this classic vid. But like what was said in the complaints thread, at least there isn't actual competitive play here.

I'm all for encouraging people to enjoy playing as the character of their choice, but the title of the video offends me with that homophobic slur.

The new characters are given some mary sue esque introductions.

Xiahou Ba as skilled as Lu Bu with a Halberd. Guan Suo having a ridiculously high number of 3 star weapon compatibility (More than his dad who has 30+ years of experience?!)

Oh well, the 'new car smell' from them will wear off by DW8 and then they'll be brought down to 'meh' levels. :hehe:

Though think of poor Guo Huai and Deng Ai, two personal favourite newcomers of mine, being stuck down at the bottom. Seems they always love the pretty ones more...
