Be sure to get the unabridged version, otherwise you're getting gyped. Also, if you get the version I have, be prepared to be knocked out by the smell of the ink. I swear if Ma Dai uses that ink, I could totally see him defeating Wei Yan with a measly paint brush. Mine is a few years old and it still makes me dizzy when reading. On topic, you raise a good point, Wu Fei. The last bit about Wu, though; they always seemed like the tweener nation. Could be good when siding with Shu (but still demonized because the author HAD to shove in so much Zhuge Liang worship), or could be seen as antagonist when they have the nerve to ask for their land back (then flat out take it from poor, innocent little Shu). I guess that's why I liked Wu among the other kingdoms outside of their colorful range of characters. Good, bad? They're the guys with the flaming arrows. |

I still don't understand how Liu Bei, a very decent General in his own right, could have so easily fallen into Lu Xun's trap. Had they avoided and countered it than Wu would have easily fallen to Shu. Sun Quan had placed the fate of Wu in the hands of the untested Lu Xun. There was literally no back up plan to stop Liu Bei if Yiling had been won by Shu. |

When someone is blinded by anger nothing can stop him. His anger got the better of him. Serves him right! stealing a land that Wu kindly gave to him! I wonder if DW7 will have the Jing province? I hope it's more interesing that DW6's. |

Because he was blinded by rage and vengeance, and he completely underestimated a little known general at that time. If anything, an important lesson is to be learned- don't go into a battle with blind rage, otherwise some punk ass kid is going to knock you out. I always loved that part of the novel, not just because Wu actually gave Shu the middle finger (so to speak) AND won, but because it was one of the few times that the novel seemed fair and unbiased. Even the great, virtuous Liu Bei can fall from his own folly. With a novel being so damn Shu biased, it's nice to see the "good guys" take a fall, because then they can eventually get up and become stronger. Until, of course, Zhuge Liang dies, then you're just screwed. |

Not to mention, when Liu Bei and lu Xun were having their standoff, it was summer and the heat was destorying the shu troops not to mention long supply lines to cheng du. Histroical SHu had huge problems with logistics. But lets not go into that. |

Couldn't agree even more. =] Believe it or not I'm actually a Chinese and my surname is Sima(司馬), yes the very same as the Sima clan of the Jin dynasty. But I don't really like them because Sima Yan(Sima Zhao's son) was an idiot to put a mentally retarded son of his on the throne and place his uncle's as regents to help the young mentally challenge emperor to govern the empire. The major problem was the fact his uncles didn't get along and they fought one another. Eventually the Jin dynasty began to crumble and ironically a Xiongnu related to the Liu clan of the Han dynasty massacre the Sima family in Luoyang and restore the Han in northern China which lasted for a few decades. (P.S. I don't really have a favorite but I do like Shu a little more then the other 2 just because of Liu Bei's background, being a poor peasant and came out of nowhere to contend with Sun Quan and Cao Cao). Nope haven't read it online, I'd read online, but I like owning novels and reading them , I think I'd rather flip than scroll. Its really a shame how biased the author was, but that won't stop me from enjoying it though. @ChibiGingi, is the ink really that strong because I have a sensitive nose, good for food, bad for chemicals.

Don't forget that, up until Lu Xun's setting a sloppy encampment on fire, Liu Bei was sacking Wu cities left and right and their generals and advisors were shitting themselves at the thought of Shu's top generals running roughshod on them. And they would have. No one in Wu in the novel was close to the likes of Zhao Yun or Ma Chao. Shu HAD to retaliate. It was a blatant betrayal. If Liu Bei didn't act, he would have lost major face. My print has really strong ink- I got used to it in long sittings, but every time I open up I have to physically prepare myself. I might have a sensitive nose as well- it's big enough to warrant that trait. (You've seen Ringo Starr's nose? That's me...) @Wu Fei- That's interesting! Have you looked up your family tree to see if you were related, perhaps? Wu is my favorite kingdom, but I still have favorite characters from the other kingdoms as well. Wei Yan, Huang Zhong, Xu Huang, Cao Ren... I never really had an issue with Liu Bei as he seemed to be an interesting character in his own right, and all of my beef with Shu is probably directed towards the author and his damned obsession with Zhuge Liang. And the issue with the Jing Province... Edit: Yes, and I'm assuming that Wu should have just sat on their rumps and allowed for Shu and Guan Yu to blatantly screw them over with the Jing Province? Just because they're the "virtuous good guys"? Indeed. If anything, Lu Xun was clever enough to use Liu Bei's own pride and honor against him to force him to retaliate. That's what I like; people who aren't afraid to fight dirty. Who knows? Had Shu just given back the Jing Province when asked, maybe they could have gotten along? Or perhaps, things would have carried out how we know it and all of this 'what if' would have meant nothing? Either way, Jing Province is a touchy subject, and that's probably why I'll read that section of the novel over the famed Chi Bi any day of the week. No right, no wrongs. Just war and politics at its finest. Edited by ChibiGingi, Tue Feb 22, 2011 5:22 am.

Yea in the beginning, Wu was getting their asses handed to them. Then it drew into a stalement when the morale decreased and Lu Xun finished them off with a fire attack. Sima Yan was more harmful to China than helpful. He became a generous version of Sun Hao. Overtolerant of his uncle's corruption and was blind to his son's disabilities. Well back to the game, maybe huang gai might revealed indirectly in the pv. |

Eh, I doubt it. I mean, if they didn't even indirectly reveal Xu Huang in Wei's, I wouldn't hold my breath. Not to say I'd be against it if they do. I'm not sure who I want to be seen- I want Lu Meng, obviously, but I won't be surprised if he doesn't make it, or only gets a minor snippet. Zhou Yu and Lu Xun are definite, though. SSX as well. And, sadly, probably Taishi Ci... ugh, will never understand the fascination with him, but look at me. I obsess over Lu Meng, so my opinion is null and void. |

The funniest thing I've learned from Eastern culture and such, is that those kind of stories (rags to riches) are absolutely loved in fiction or fictionalized version of history. But, politically or in real life, it's to be feared. Thinking about it now, I'm a little put off by Liu Bei's appearance now, seeing as he doesn't look like the humble, born from peasantry kind of guy anymore. But I guess no one would take an emperor/ruler seriously if he dressed like |

Blinded by rage is probably a bit dramatic, by the time the battle was finally fought it was two years after Guan Yu's death. Lu Xun basically just stayed on the defensive (not as easy as it sounds when every other officer is urging you to attack) while Liu Bei's supply lines got longer and his army more fatigued. Lu Xun then made his famous fire attack which scattered Liu Bei's forces allowing Lu Xun to destroy them easily. But SazukeEX is right that Liu Bei was normally a very good general, often his own feats are underrated in order to maintain his 'innocence' and increase Zhuge Liang's prestige. As little as I like Shu, I have a lot of respect for Liu Bei's accomplishments. |

Hehe that would be pretty cool, but I don't think we would be able to find that out since the Sima clan of Jin ruled China centuries ago. My family does claim lineage from Sima Qian(the Han dynasty historian who was Sima Yi's ancestor) as our ancestor, but we don't really have any proof.
Nah, it's not banned. There are Simas that exist including me and my family. There's even a Zhuge village that are descendants of Zhuge Liang that exist in China in Zhejiang province. =P On to topic: Does anyone have any screenshots of Diao Chan? I swear someone posted something that looked like Diao Chan. Edited by Wu Fei, Tue Feb 22, 2011 5:39 am.

As do I. I just don't think it's that hard to believe that someone like Liu Bei could be taken out at Yi Ling, given the circumstances leading up to it. May have been two years, but I know a lot of people who hold onto their rage for countless years (my father was one of them). All that you've just mentioned is a recipe for disaster, for ANY general, regardless of rank, experience and what have you. Tragic fate for one such as Liu Bei, but that's war. Sadly, one could probably make that comparison, and I know a few people who... idolize... such a man. BUT ENOUGH OF THAT. Okay, on topic. Xiahou Dun was still pretty bad-ass after he lost his eye. I mean, who else do you know that would take a hit to the eye, pull it out, EAT IT, then chase down the man that shot him? That's pretty awesome. |

Xiahou Dun is indeed awesome and so was Masamune, one eyed guys are always cool in my eyes, no joke intended. Also was just me or when he introduced himself in DW3 he sounded french when he said his name? ![]() I just wish they gave him his scar back to cover his eye, rather than an eye patch and also his cape from Dw3. I just got great idea from this what if they had a costume edit where you could mix and match their costumes with the new and old ones. That'd be even better than color edit.
