Prehaps I should of phrased it better in how the novel destroys Zhou Yu's personality and character for the betterment of Shu.

It wwould be great to have a surprise character but I severely doubt it.
you have no idea how much that pissed me off..making him look like the bad guy when those Shu bastards stole Jing from Wu <_<

I hope though in DW7 they're not going to make Zhou Yu's Story like in the novel where he always tries to outsmart Zhuge Liang but fails and then dies at the end
Yeah I've read about most of the guys from Wu, and they all seemed very cool and awesome. Zhou Yu was pretty cool though when I read his.

Hearing about this makes me not want to get the novel anymore, I mean I heard it was very biased, but damn. I usually try to ignore it, but when its this bad it tends to piss me off :hmmm: . Still considering the novel though.

I never read it, though I know a lot of the fictional events that happen in it just from DW and seeing enough debates where people use the novel as evidence. Personally I found Generals of the South to be a great read if you're interested in a historical look at Wu.

And whaddaya know, Gan Ning doesn't have that wacko hair.

That's a good point. Perhaps they used one of his old models as a stand in for the card? It'd be weird that they hadn't finalised his design though.

Is Generals of the South a novel and is it just the historical focus on Wu, because I love history.

Well it's non-fiction, so not a novel. It's free to download here:

The Phoenix is the most powerful animal in that trio.

Fitting for Wei.

I say you should buy it, it's a great read. However, it's pretty Shu and Wei perspective, so if you were looking for some Wu action I prefer going to www.kongming.net (This is not advertising!) for some Wu reads. Like the last 27 years (263 - 280 AD, Shu's fall) was like within 30 or 40 pages. Wu really gets the short end of the stick.

Fenghuang is in simple terms the Chinese equivalent of a phoenix.

I was not aware of that branch of the phoenix mythology not having immortality though.

It can't die the myth is, when it dies it rises again from its ashes, I think. Hey it fits too well with Wei if you ask me.

@Hawk Thanatos, thanks I'll look into it.

I've just read chapter 4 of the the generals of the south is proving to be an interesting read. Especially the analysis of the battle and if it was possible for the battle to of happened.

I can see the phoneix metaphor as Jin rising from Wei. How vaild that is I'm not sure considering what happened about 20 years after the formation of Jin. I do wonder who Jin will fight from Cao Wei in the game.

So....what are we talking about now...i just got back on again...as i read the previous post and we are now talking about mythical animals as 'GODS' that has no meaning to the game. We are not talking about strikeforce but Dynasty Warriors 7....Can we get real here...please. just being truthful

Those animals has nothing to do with the game are the mascot of those forces. It's not really a crime talking about them instead of clones and Qiaos you know. Just speaking truthfully

Yeah well it's not like we're going to fight em anyways, because if this was a clone of SF. I'm taking my reserve away for sure, because SF sucked.

They aren't talking about Strikeforce, they're talking about what each kingdom's "deity" is, and how Wei's represents them in DW7's storyline.

What's the deal with the ever increasing amount of people trying to force others to stop talking about the topic they're on, be it off-topic or not? At this point, about a quarter of every page is filled with people complaining about what others are talking about. Besides, what else to talk about at this point? Everything's an unacceptable topic for some reason. Pang De's off limits, free mode's off limits, clones are off limits, etc.

I would rather we talk about how the animals represent their respective kingdoms then go off on some tangent as the dreaded clones talks or even if Qiaos should included. It rather that we don't have much to talk about until the new pv comes out.

Because we've already been through this topic before... I don't see what the crime is about talking about the mascots of the Kingdoms. At least it's a different subject. :P

So, which one of them are the weakest? Tiger, I'm gonna assume?

It's a Tiger.

You can literally kill it with a well placed knife thrust.

No offense to those still talking about the Phoenix and so on but bringing up Chi Bi/Red Cliff does remind me of something I was wondering. That being, how are they going to handle historical defeats if they're trying to get closer to the actual history/ROTK story?

With Chi Bi as an example, playing the Wei story they could:

- Have Cao Cao's forces win the battle even though they didn't historically, with future events continuing on more or less the same anyway, as they have in previous games.
- Have the battle playable in the Wei story, but have Wu and Liu Bei still portrayed as the winners. I'm really not sure how they'd handle this since your objective playing in every battle is to win.
- Ignore it, only have the Battle of Chi Bi playable in the Wu and Shu story modes. But it's a pretty major battle and leaving it out seems odd.

I wonder what others think? How would you have them do it?
