Actually, they put it on the Wii because Nintendo owned the rights to the Famicom (I think it was Famicom) game that was in SW3.
...well, I'm not describing it well but it's sorta like that.

True the Demons and Castle's mode was based off of a old Nintindo 64 Japanese game. So since it was their game put on SW3 they just bought the rights to it.

Yes, it was Wii exclusive for a year because of Murasame Castle, which was a Nintendo property.

And while the Wii has more consoles sold in general, most of their existing fanbase had PS2/3s or 360 since most of the previous games had been released for those consoles. I think that's really why it sold so badly, because most of their existing fans who didn't already own a Wii didn't go out and buy one for one game.

Okay....People that stop being a fan of koei over one lousy game are idiots. Who knows, this game might be bad? I don't see japanese people rage when they dont get games translated in Japanese. If people are gonna stop following koei cause they decide to not release this, well your just stupid, it's clear this game won't sell well, it just won't, only koei fans will buy this, this game has NO CHACNE against other games coming out this year, so whats the point of making the effort to release it for a small amount of people? -_- Besides, all Empire games are just meh. They're fun for a month then get boring imo. But if People are gonna be babies because this isn't being released I really encourage koei to not make games anymore for moaners.
So you're complaining about us complaining, real mature there.

I thnk Empires are better games. The Main games are the same and the reason why casual fans will not buy the games. Empries are different.

Well...I respect that you guys are angry that its not coming overseas, im damn not happy SW3Z isnt over here, I think it was a stupid decision moving it too Wii. Te only thing I'm 'complaining' about, is that some people are giving up on the company because they're not releasing one lousy game. I'll just wait, as for those people that are saying "Koei has lost a fan" to come crawling back when SW4 is likely to be released here.

Any new scans btw?? I'm curious about the story mode.

EDIT: Though I myself doubt it will, but if it is then horay, then hopefully one of these SW will come overseas, as we need 92 more likes http://www.facebook.com/koeigames and their will be an announcement...Chin Said it was "A random suprise ever" Perhaps a English subtitled version of SW3Z? I hope, though It prob won't be...who knows.
One lousy game?

SW3Z/XL
SW3 Empires
DW7 Special for PSP

Count that, three lousy games. One of which is implicating things that fans wanted in the ORIGINAL releases.

Strike one, okay, so it didn't sell well.
Strike two, huh, the economy must be REALLY bad, but I understand.
Strike three, eh, whatever. Let's see what other game companies might have to offer until Koei either dies completely or recovers.

Couldn't have said it better myself. I understand catering to the main market, and I'm not horribly put out by the Japan-only releases of compilations like Musou Orochi Z in which the same content is available in other games released in the West. But we're now missing out on significant releases, and this is the second time that a backported Special release of Dynasty Warriors has contained material that should have been in the original version. (And to add insult to stupidly backwards development priority, it won't even be localized for the rest of us.) It's off-putting, and it doesn't inspire much confidence in the vision of KOEI management.

This is what happins when a GOOD CEO that runs his business GREAT retire's and his fellow men just throw the company to the next young Donald Trumph wannabe. But man before you try running a GOOD BIG company try your hands on a small decent one first so you don't ruin BIG things people LOVE. :/

Quick show of hands:

Assuming it stays unreleased in the West, who here would bother to import it, not being able to understand anything notwithstanding?

Now, how many more would change their minds about importing if the game gave the option to translate all text to English? No English dub, no official Western release, far less extra development costs, just the Japanese game with English menus and subtitles?

I wouldn't import SW3: Empires as is. I could play it with a translation guide and my very limited knowledge of game menu-specific Japanese, but I wouldn't get anything out of the story elements or character interactions.

I would buy the game if it had full English menus and subtitles because I'd be able to enjoy all the content.

told you guys not to get your hopes up. bad choices led to this happening and the west will not get to see a version of this unless koei does like producers of the yakuza series and give the west a SW3 Empires thats japanese but with english language options which I doubt koei wants to even do that (though they will save money).

I think koei is starting to see the eu and us as invalueable customers when it comes to their games and mainly the US because WE LOVE TEH SHOOWTING GAMEZ PEW PEW PEW and warriors game don't to so well in selling plus almost every dw and sw game has been given low scores.

Well I'm hoping at least we get SW4 next year and hope that koei does not screw up but i probably should not be hoping anyway.

Really, no RTKXII and no localization for NA: Tendou or SW3XL/Z are bad already, and now no localization for SW3:E either.
I just lost all my faith in KOEI... :kurokan:

Bah to me wont be all that fun getting the same game just a new guy a year later inless I got say the XL or at least Empire's to it later but otherwise it is just the same game new guy every year at that rate and so SW would lose even more popularity by just doing SW4, 5, 6, etc. :/

People who are giving up on the company, ok i'll correct myself, 3 lousey games, like i said, cant wait to see you guys crawl back when SW4 or any other Koei games come out, cause if your gonna give up on koei cause theyre not releasing 2 games which won't sell well and a game on a dying handheld consoles, well then shame for you. (Y) (Personally they should just release them with English Text). Also if people who want DW7 on PSP, then maybe someone will patch it with English text, thats what they did with Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep ( + Final Mix). Hopefully someone can do an english patch for the console games as well like they did with KH2: Final mix (I don't know if this is considered illegal for the 360/PS3 but they did it with PS2)

It's coming up to nearly a month since it's announcement, SURELY, there should be a famitsu scan :(

and no ROTK XII at all, no Nobunaga, no Strikeforce 2, no Dw 6 special, no Musou Orochi Z and SW3 on the ***** Wii. I even bought it and it doesn't have have the decency to have progressive scan in the PAL version, like nearly every other Wii game....

At least make an English menu option for your region free games so the five people who are interested can import it, how hard can it be?

People who are giving up on the company,
There is no need to give up on the company, we can't buy those lousy games even if we wanted to (unless we import at high cost a game where we need a guide to find the menu option to start it)

Its because some people care more about KOEI and their games than guys like you above me. So then they feel betrayed by their love lol and leave them. Their is nothing wrong or childish about that. Also please don't double post Yunchan. :)

This, exactly. Plus, the whole not having a PS3 thing kinda gets in the way for me.

If it had English menus and subtitles, then of course I would import. How can I enjoy a game when I don't understand the language? And Empires is very text based, more than just simple hack/slash on the battlefield.

That dream. Unfortunately, we know that the game will not have menus and subtitles translated into English. They will be in Japanese, like the other Warriors games released only in Japan.

I have never imported and I don't plan to any time soon. My belief is that if the company doesn't believe that we Western fans are worth localizing the game for, they don't deserve my well-earned money to go through the trouble of importing the game just to play it in a language I don't understand.

SW3: Empires would have been fun though. Oh well..

I haven't really given up on the company. Just not happy with their decisions. If I had given up on the company, I wouldn't have just purchased Trinity and Warriors: Legends of Troy.

To those that HAVE given up, it's their right. No one really should take away from that.

I'll keep my eyes and ears open for SW4, but I'll probably wait to see if it's even going to come to the states before I show too much interest. SW may very well be dead to the West. Such is life. It's probably best for disappointed fans to take the chance to broaden their horizon and look into other series or games for the time being.

Even if there was a patch to translate the text into English, I'd pass, or at least look for cheaper alternatives. $70-$80 for a game is just too much for me to justify paying...

Oh god the amount of moaning!
First off anyone thats having ago saying "lousy game" why don't you take yourself off here, clearly the post mentions samurai warriors 3:empires, so everything here will be about the "lousy game" itself!

Second, I don't understand a scrap of Japanese and it took me 2 seconds to revise the menus and such on xl/Z. Now I can play it fine, so don't say "we need a guide for the menu just to start the game" because it took me maximum 5 minutes!
Also anyone that is looking to buy xl/Z for PS3, every option on the menu has an English translation underneath, some don't but if you need any help discovering things then message me!
