They announced that there will be "40 characters", and since that constitutes the complete roster of SW3Z/XL, then we can assume that for now there will be no new characters.

Besides, like in every other Empires' game, the generics are also playable. Now if only we could customize them....

I hope more news gets revealed on this game. Koei should've waited until this was released or near release when they announced DW7XL <_<

Barely anyone gives a damn about this game anymore :/

I think that it hardly has anything to do with the fact that they announced DW7XL... moreso that the game's not going to be released outside of Japan, so a lot of genuine interest has just died for it.

I'll be very disappointed if the game is not releasing oversea! SW3: XL/Z is out only in Japan, and if KOEI don't release SW3E overseas, I'm going to die, I think >_<
Also, I wouldn't mind if they put in some new characters.

Their are a few new guys in SW3 Empire's and I couldn't agree more. Its bad business to give us the simple stuff and only give your home the best stuff at least in the long run to me. :/

couldnt agreed more my friend. I am going to miss the ages when games where made for people joy and not for money :( .Anyway what can you do?I just though that many DW7 expansions are going to be released DW7XL and DW7 special, obviously KOEI is giving its priority to finish with all DW7 expansions and then they probably are going to concentrate in SW3E so probably they could release SW3E after DW7XL overseas release.

I miss those days too too bad its the smaller companies that care more about making games to make people happy then big companies like EA buy them out and destroy them in a year. :/

I'm actually sad, because the main reason I feel they don't want to release Empires over here is based off of vanilla 3's sales... but on a Wii and ONLY for the Wii. While it did decent over in Japan, the game itself was scarce in America (and after getting a HUGE assist from my own personal loyal retainer, I manage to snag a copy of it AND Basara 3 the same day. Gloriousvictory.) and LOLOLOLOLWIIEXCLUSIVE, which if it didn't say Mario, Metroid, OR Smash Bros, it's not going to have bunker-busting sales, hence the cancellation of SW3Z/XL, which made me sad considering it was the first time in a LONG WHILE Ranmaru got his own story again. :/

Hopefully, Koei will see that, yes, Samurai Warriors is still a well loved franchise in the West and consider localizing it for us.

You see, it's posts like this that make me wonder if people ever even take the time to do any research before they voice their opinions. (Of which I know most people don't...such is the internet.) If you did, you'd know that the US and Europe WILL be getting SW3:E. And how do I know?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Samurai_Warriors_3

Go down to the "Extended Versions" section. Last paragraph. Hell, I'll post it for you all to see:

Samurai Warriors 3: Empires was 'announced' on May 31, 2011 through a leaked image of an in-store poster. Tecmo Koei have since acknowledged the existence of the game. It is scheduled to be released in August 2011 in Japan for the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360 and will be sold overseas. There has been no mention as of yet of a possible Nintendo Wii version.

Notice the part in bold? Yea. So all of you folks panning Koei for not giving a damn about it's American fans...and I say this completely in an objective tone...stuff it. The decision not to port XL or Z over is a fiscal one, and ONLY a fiscal one. Localizing the game costs money. More money then they actually make in sales for the game in the West. So why bother blowing cash to localize a game that you know only the die hards are going to buy? Exactly. Whereas the Empires games are the "A-List" games of the series. They ALWAYS make a major profit on the Empires games. So, they localize it and release it worldwide, because casual Warriors fans and die hards alike eat them up like candy.

So to all you folks calling Koei lazy, or uncaring, or whatever. You're a bigger part of the problem then the solution. Because your speculative and opinionated comments do nothing but fill the forum (and countless others that I lurk on) with doubt and misinformation. Now you have the correct info in wikipedia splendor. So perhaps we can stop talking about how much Koei doesn't give a damn about it's American and Europena fans, and start talking about how much we're looking forward to getting our hands on SW3:E...because we are.

And apologies if I come off as sounding a bit gruff. I'm just sick and tired of people spreading needless speculation without doing any obvious research beforehand.

Was that Wikipedia comment made or vetted by an official KOEI source? If not, it doesn't prove a thing. It doesn't even indicate localization, as games can be sold overseas - in other words, imported - without being translated.

What relevance would it be stating "will be sold overseas" and it not be the localized version? C'mon man, stop trying to knit pick. That's exactly the naive speculation I'm talking about. Just trying to find reasons to be negative for the sake of furthering your own opinion. Since when is a foreign release of a game mentioned on wikipedia NOT the localized (and therefor legal) version of the game? Stop dude, please.

Wait if this is coming overseas
why didn't koei say that in the 1st place on FB?
I mean there not blind they must have saw all the rants of it coming overseas :P

Besides on SW page on Facebook it's still confirmed on PlayStation 3 in Japan.
They HAVE to change that if it's coming :P

There is no confirmation from KOEI of SW3: Empires being localized for overseas release. There is only an unsourced Wikipedia edit, which could have been made by anyone.

I pointed out the unreliability of a freely editable, unofficial source. That hardly constitutes naivete, speculation, nor scraping for negativity.

People can edit Wikipedia anytime but it's not true and not official too.
Sorry about this.

I talked to an official KOEI employee at E3 about the game not being localized for overseas and announced it last month. The wikipedia/wikia sources are not very reliable since anyone can change it.

When they had the DW7 character announcements, people were editing the pages like crazy adding Pang De and characters that weren't even in the game.
