The game sounds really great! What a shame I will never be able to play it...

I saw that there are new artworks made for Empires. Does anyone know where I can find them? I really love Okuni´s new CG artwork! :)

Edit: @Divine Justice, wait, you mean there weren't that many interactions between say Noh, Oichi, Katsuie, Mitsuhide, Hideyoshi, etc? Well.... ok then....
There were a few interactions between these characters, but the main players were definitely Toshiie, Ranmaru, and Hanbei. From memory (so keep in mind that this is an estimate, and could be completely wrong), Noh had 2-3, Oichi had 2, Katsuie had 2-3, Mitsuhide had 1, Hideyoshi had 2-3, and ToshiRanBei each appeared in pretty much every other event, with the exception of Hanbei being absent from before he's recruited and after he dies. I feel that Hojo's history was much more balanced, probably because there are only 3 characters to focus on though... still, I find it strange that they call it Nobunaga's story when it really seems like they were telling everything from Toshiie's perspective.

With regards to the fictional Empires scenario, I was talking with someone on GameFAQs who said they completed all three scenarios (Okehazama, Honnoji, and Sekigahara), and they received the gold trophy. I haven't confirmed myself, but let me just say I wouldn't be surprised. From just clearing one scenario, it doesn't seem like you get any extra options for replaying old scenarios. Hopefully at the very least we'll get some of those after clearing all three scenarios... otherwise, KOEI has really done their best to suck all of the replay value out of this one.

I hate to sound like such a downer, but SW2E was quite possibly my favorite KOEI game (that or SW1/XL). It sucks to see some of the best features removed. Well, I hope I'm somehow wrong. Maybe DLC? I do believe they mentioned at some point there would be DLC...

@Divine Justice

If that is indeed the case then Koei sucked it up big time and I now understand why they do not release it overseas, haha.

Well I need a free mode which actually MEANS free mode.
I want to create my own empire with my own generals. I mean how hard is that?

The decision to not release this game overseas was solely based on the fact that SW3 on Wii had very bad sales. The content of this game probably doesn't have anything to do with it.

Anyway, it seems very odd how Oda gives a lot of focus for Ranmaru, Hanbei and Toshiie when someone like Katsuie is more important than at least the first two.

Does Oichi get some screentime in Oda faction story? Since there's no Azai for playable, I'd expect her to have at least some role.

She does get a little bit, but IIRC she doesn't appear in any cutscenes (of which there are only 2 for both Oda and Hojo, not sure about the others). She only joins the clan after defeating the Azai, but she does get one or two events with Nagamasa before that. Afterwards she has another event or two, but I don't remember if any of them were with Katsuie. I think one was with Toshiie and Noh, as odd as that is.

Date's story sound very strange as well. I was thinking about doing that one next, but I'm probably going to hold off for now. Mouri next maybe?

LOLWUT?

Well, it wouldn't be the worst WTF pairing I've ever seen as far as a Warriors series goes.

*looks at Ranmaru/Gracia*

You guys are REALLY making me want to go broke and import this game... grrrr

Wow, that's a pretty weird story. But that's what I like about the SW cast; how unlike DW where the characters are restricted under their kingdom, the ever changing-clan mechanic in SW allows for possibilities.

Rather odd that yet another Free mode-ish aspect is gone. Then again if I personally played this game, it wouldn't bother me. Call me weird, but VERY rarely did I ever play a free-mode Empires in the past. Most of the time when I played a scenario in DW and SW, I went by one clan and tried to stick with it as historically as possible.

Which makes it even MORE tragic that those unable/unwilling to import won't be able to enjoy this game. It actually sounds pretty DAMN good!

Grrrr, Koei! Why 5 economy so bad?!

That's just... strange. I mean Masamune and Kai didn't have much interaction in original SW3 as far as I know. From what I've understood so far from some comments, they kinda ditched Mago and gave room to Kai so there would be another unnecessary love story (?).

The funny thing is that this all happens in "History mode". :uh:

Actually, I recall some moments, but they were brief and could just as easily be thought of as 'respectful rivalry' as they could be taken as 'possible romance'. The level where Masamune helps the people of Oshu's rebellion (forgot the name of the level itself) is mostly where it could be hinted at, but only if you're looking for it.

That's sort of like the Nostradamus effect; looking for clues that aren't there AFTER the fact, and drawing a conclusion from that. I bet you now, most forum goers will read this post, think 'Wait, is what she saying true? Is there hints?', and go play the level or watch it on YouTube.

Because I planted the thought/doubt there, they will be more likely to notice the hints (but not necessarily agree with it being romantic hints.)

Though, they dropped Mago? Aw... maybe they're getting ready to put Kojuuro there for SW4?

Masamune and Kai definitely have some moments in Empires. What with her headbutting him and kira-ing and he climbing up a castle wall and taking a cannonball for her.

His story isn't entirely about her though, since the first part of it's about his father - he only meets her after his father's death (which is shown; the impact of "shoot!" is lessened when they're standing right next to each other).

Unfortunately he wasn't cool enough to catch it (his hands were full of the castle wall!!). No, it just hit him (twice) and knocked him down the castle because for some reason he was climbing up it instead of going through the front door like a sane person.

You can see it here, http://ja.justin.tv/elice24/b/293594017, about 42:00 in or so.

Nevermind, Basara Masamune would have caught it with his teeth, or Kojuuro would have.

Will have to watch it after class, though... but it will be a thought that will keep me going through the long hours...

Damn, reading all this awesome stuff is making me want to import again. Just hand me a really good and reliable translation guide and I'll get to it. Japanese or no.

Anyway, why a possible romance between Masamune and Kai? Just seems weird.

And I don't mean to spoil (if you can it call a spoiler), but I saw Sakon and Ina in one shot from the game on facebook. Does that mean anything, other than him taking her hostage by the looks of it?

I wonder what Koei is trying to do with the Sakon-Ina thing. They probably have some interaction in the game (because they probably fight against each other at some point during Sekigahara campaign).

They certainly had "something" in SW2 (at least in the opening), but it never really became that big deal at during their respective stories.

Okay I just got my first unique weapon, it appears that you can get the weapon only in Empires (Free) mode and as mentioned before, everything you get in Empires mode is kept for the next game (including history mode).

The weapon event will come anytime and all you have to do is to complete the mission
Such as kill the officer after you have 300 KOs or 250 combos etc.

Damn it, I hate these combo missions...

A slight correction. According to the Japanese wiki:

-In Empires mode, get blacksmith level to at least 4, in the next month you will get the message 「戦場で○○の武器を獲得せよ」(circles replaced with some officer's name). Complete the mission with that officer or an edit officer who uses the same moveset and you will get the rare weapon.
--You cannot earn rare weapons on difficulty less than Normal
-To earn 1st rare weapons (4th weapons) you must play on at least normal difficulty. For 2nd rare weapons you must play on at least hard difficulty
-The details of obtaining 1st rare weapons on hard are unknown
--Perhaps on hard difficulty when trying to obtain a rare weapon, if you don't equip the 1st rare weapon you will obtain the first rare weapon and not the second?
-Since the desired rare weapon mission is very unlikely to appear, it is a good idea to save before moving to the next month so that you can reload until you get the message you want.
--(not so sure on this last part, I'm probably mis-reading something...) If you have Nouhime, Oichi, etc. around the mission indication won't appear. When there are too many officers you can fire them with the discharge option.

So yeah, take that last part with a grain of salt, but I believe the rest is correct.

If you have anything to add on top of that, or any corrections (maybe I mistranslated something), let me know.

Oreadia, do you know what the conditions for upgrading the castle are? I've figured out everything else about upgrading the castle town, but I can't seem to figure out how to control the castle itself. It seems almost random...
I do not know either, need to research more.

Though from what I see it, it appears to the amount of areas you have obtained.
Level 1 is weakest and level 5 is strongest.

I played Empires mode (Free mode) the other day as Nobunaga Oda and I completed it with a level 5 castle.

It appears to be impossible to get a level 5 castle with history mode (Story Mode) due to a limited amount of stages you get to play there.

What I can say is, the empires mode ending really disappoints me.
The best thing about Empires mode is it's endings and that you can edit your characters and stuff like that to make your own cool ending.
However this have been stripped or I have not unlocked it yet. The ending of empires mode is just people (5?) talking to you and saying things you do not even understand (Since I do not speak Japanese! XD).

I hope I am wrong.
HOW COME YOUVE GOT SW3:E!!?
Does the Japanese version work on Xbox 360, and is it in English :o :o :o

Samurai Warriors 3 Empires is a PS3 Exclusive and it doesn't have English text... Also, XBOX360 is dead in Japan, sorry.
