I must say i am confused, this year, it seems republicans are starting to say lots of stupid things, and it bothers me... i never thought that republicans were very smart in teh first place, but then again, i think most every politician is stupid(its not just republicans, may i remind you of anthony weiner?). But all these big, possible presidential candidates making dumb remarks, makes me worried....

Donald Trump: Very Egotistical
I hear he probably isnt running for president, so that he continue his work on TV(Phew)
but awhile back, he launched a huge investigation to find out if Obama was born in the US.
Obama nonchalantly released his birth certificate, and not suprisingly, he was born in the US.
Then Trump made a big deal out of his "success" and looked like a moron. followed by him usuing his large ego to twist his way through press conferences, and attempted to make himself look smart.
God, i hope he doesnt run for president....

Sarah Palin: Delusional
Recently, Palin was doing some stupid round the US trip in some patriotic bus, and visiting historical landmarks
In a press conference, she said something about about paul revere. and i guess we all had history wrong, cuz apparently paul revere warned the british.

And finally, Michelle Bachmann: Just plain stupid.
First, she made some comment about this town in Iowa about how John Wayne, that famous cowboy guy, lived there, as if anyone really cared. but it turns out, John Wayne lived 150 miles from there, but there had been a john wayne in the towns past, John Wayne Gacy, a child raping murder. How nice. Way to go Bachmann.
And then, she made a comment on the founding fathers in another press conference. apparently, John Quincy Adams, who was 9 years old when The Revolutionary war ended, was a founding father. and apparently the founding fathers, were all working to end slavery.

If these are the people who we're considering making presidents of the United States.... im worried...\

And im sorry to anyone who supports these politicians, but this is what i think of them.

Discuss.

i'm canadian and i'm scared too. mostly of Palin, if she wins she'd probably try to invade canada, saying it belongs to the US or something, or claim our oil, one of the two.
fun fact Trump said he will not run for president, but he said if he did, he'd have won the whole thing. :o

Like, i said, trump has a huge ego

and yeah, palin would probably try to set up some kind of deal to get some canadian oil on her hands, and poor alaska would be sucked dry. Look out north, Sarah Palin's gonna rape you.

Yet, Democrats speak nothing but brilliance and ultimate truth, am I right?

I believe idiots and extremists exist on both sides, and personally, I hate them all.

If the Democrats were looking for a Presidential candidate as well, I'm sure we would see some.... unusual candidates running or claiming they will. Republicans heavy defeat at the last Presidential election has allowed a right-wing group to grow strong, how long that lasts depends on how they do in elections and how long the centre ground people take to reclaim the leadership.

Exactly... the only reason why we're not hearing overly stupid things from the other side of the fence is because they already have their guy in the White House and have very little to fear. Obama's there to stay in this election- Americans hate switching presidents every four years.

I mean, that has to be why Bush won the re-election when most of America HATED him, still hates him. There's simply no other explanation for that.

Anyone hear some of Michele Bachmann's other dumb statements?

She claimed that getting rid of minimum wage would eliminate unemployment.

She claimed carbon dioxide is harmless.

She said that the Lion King was 'Gay Propaganda'.

And she said a lesbian singer, who had cancer, was to repent for being gay. WTF?

Them and more

She said that the Lion King was 'Gay Propaganda'.
Wait, what? Just because Nathan Lane's in it?

And I wouldn't peg all Republicans the same just because there's someone out there that's somehow dumber than Bush and Palin combined.

Makes for good comedy gold, since we all know Obama's got this election in the bag anyway, whether you want him or not.

I see idiots on both sides... ones that refuse to let go of outdated ideals, and others with their heads in the clouds and empty promises. Both sides can kiss the darkest part of my white ass.

Haha, I agree

She said it was Gay Propaganda cuz a gay man wrote the music, and apparently, that means he was saying I'm better cuz I'm gay. WTF?

Bush actually wasn't that dumb. He was of moderate intelligence with a funny accent who was in way over his head. Palin and Bachmann cannot say the same.

---

I would stress the point that everyone has said something stupid or silly in their lives, some far more than others. Palin mistaking Africa for a country was one. Barack Obama miscounting the number of states in the union as another. The more you watch one 'flavor' of media the more the other side's faults become apparent and your own are slowly pushed under the carpet. Even if you try to watch both flavors of media what you get is still colored in a way that skews our perception. With this in mind, many people believe that Obama will become elected as if there's nothing anyone can do to stop it. There's a problem with this: Obama's approval ratings are in decline and have been for a while. There's two different takes on this: The first is that Obama's popularity may be down, but this doesn't mean that the American people won't vote for him. They may not like how he's doing the job, but they 'damn well' won't allow a republican to take control of this mess. Others, republicans mostly, believe that his popularity ratings means that if they put forward a halfway decent candidate, such as Cain, or an actually good candidate, such as Romney, that Obama is destined to lose.

My point is the issues are not as cut and dry as they appear and the election is anything but certain.

I must say...I do not envy the President's job. Obama's in a bad position being blocked from doing anything by the Republican party and a few of his own party members. Therefore his achievements have been lacking.
I will be honest that I was a Bush-basher long ago...but he is certainly waaaay better than the "New Age" of Republicans that are taking the stage now.
I missed the days we had members who wanted to help the country not see if they can try to "overthrow" the current one.
As it stands though...I may not have to be concerned. I may be moving to Germany for a new job. If it falls through...I'm certainly screwed with this economy.

Politicians are the most egotistical beings on earth: they have to be to say that they're the best thing for the country.

If Romney ends up running as the Republican candidate, theres actually a 50/50 chance he could win. Nobody, even many Democrats seem particularily happy with Obama right now.

To anyone insisting the Republicans are stupid, you guys gave us all Gore, one of the biggest hypocrites and morons of all time.

I'm sure the Democrats have had many idiots running for office in it's time, though Gore was a respected figure outside America. Then again, he ran against Bush and the jokes when Bush got re-elected suggests Stumpy the Clown would have been seen as highly respected in comparison to Bush.

It is just that at the moment, the Republicans seem to have a lot of high profile people of... unorthodox views.

funny things by republicans
"I heard from a woman that the HPV vaccine caused her daughter to develop mental retardation"
Michael Bachman

"Build a fence... electrifiy it ... and a sign on the other side 'this will kill you"
Herman Cane

" Three things i'll get rid of is commerce, education and....... sorry ..... opps"
Rick Perry

side notes of things said by the republican nominees include;
-war on Iran
-war on Pakistan
-threats to CHINA

**** is gonna hit the fan if any of these people win the election
(Perry; honest mistake but the things he wants to rid of are insane. Perry's future= even dumber test score averages for american children)

None of them will get the presidential nomination for the republican party. Depending on their popularity and political climate they may get the VP slot. The reason why I know that they will not get the presidential nomination for the republican party is because that by doing so they automatically concede the election to Barack Obama, unless he does something irredeemably stupid in the next year.

Rick Perry better not even get close to presidency.

It makes me uneasy hearing him be referred to as "George Bush on steroids".

The only thing I can see causing him the election would be to not veto SOPA or PIPA if it somehow makes it to his desk. It might seem a little trivial, but that, compiled with a lot of 'empty promises' that he was unable to fulfill (not entirely his fault but he'll be the scapegoat regardless) might be enough to change some voters minds. Maybe not enough to cause him the election, but enough to give the Republicans some small glimmer of hope.

Obama's there to stay, like it or not.

That is everywhere. Campaign promises are a way to galvanize the public to get the right amount of votes to win. Once they get into office they either have no intention of following through with these promises or realize that they are promises they cannot keep.

I thought it was only in my country. New parties will apeear, and they said that the country needs a new ruler, a new government, a cleaner one. That is all they say.

Even here, an artist named Harjatmo climbed up to the roof of the Senator building, and wrote his protest ON THE ROOF. I am serious.

I don't just think it's the politicians who are getting dumber, but their constituents are as well. So, in order to appease their moronic supporters, they have to play the part. So it's really just both sides being a bit derpy.
