This is getting more exciting by the minute!

I want that calender...
If you want to try to buy it, both AmiAmi and CDJapan are selling it and they ship overseas! I've never ordered from either site before, but I have heard good things about them from friends.

Uesugi Kagekatsu looks exactly like Kanetsugu ... Shimazu Yoshihisa is a younger copy of Shimazu Yoshihiro... and Sanada Nobuyuki reminds me Alphonse Elric... huh?
It these are new character, KOEI were not very original while designing them...

At first I thought the same thing, the costumes are a bit "generic" ... but just are chibis and I think Koei will give them a more original design... anyway, I love them and I don't care if these will be the official design ... it's like in DW 2,3,4 n 5

but Nobuyuki, Kojuro and Chacha are perfect ... I do not see Nobuyuki like Alfons

sorry for my English

Finally! Chacha is here. ^_^ I love her design, its very elegant and sort of reminds me of Oichi. I'm hoping and guessing she will be added into SW4. Chacha would have a great storyline if she was added.

I'm still wondering how many characters we will get in SW4? So far those are 11 and more coming through the Calendar, according to 2ch Members...

Also, there are those who will be revealed via the Famitsu Scans... Do you guys think that KOEI is aiming for 60+ number to match DW Character Count?

I hope not, because SW has better character focus due to the lesser amount of characters.

I think we're looking at about four or five new characters being added via the calendar, unless the remaining four months show characters we've already seen, which is greatly possible.

Well, I really want the next game to have 60+ characters but I want that to be done right. Usually, the SW Team is more creative than the DW ones so I don't think there will be clones and crappy storylines.

I doubt that all these characters will be added to Samurai Warriors 4. Maybe some of them, but not all. Especially since some are very generic, and some seem to be completely unnecessary additions. Not to mention that there would be no point to reveal these characters now if they are added in Samurai Warriors 4.

Well, the only character that I see as unnecessary is Mori Takamoto. The others are characters that have been requested by the fans for a long time, especially Saito Dosan and Yamamoto Kansuke.

Also, they are only Chibi's. KOEI can still modify their appearance before revealing their CGs.

Off-Topic: @Tsukiyama: Where does your Ma Yunlu comes from??? It's AMAZING!

*cough*That Mori person who's being molested by a cat*cough* . Don't need him. Don't need Yoshiaki either.

My expectations for characters getting in SW4;

- ChaCha
- Nobuyuki Sanada
- Masayuki Sanada
- Kagekatsu Uesugi
- Kojuro Katakura
- Kansuke Yamamoto
- Dosan Saito (Maybe, if Koei are willing to give Noh more depth to her storyline).

I really want Okatsu in the next game though. So bad.

Well, I want Yoshiaki to be added... That would make stories of characters like Oda Nobunaga, Uesugi Kenshin and Azai Nagamasa much more drama and extend them.

Also, Nagamasa would finally get a history that doesn't focus just in his relantionship with Oichi... And Kenshin would get a story that's not just facing Shingen in battle all the time...

In the Chibi revealed characters, here are the ones I would like to see added in Samurai Warriors 4 (or Samurai Warriors 4: Xtreme Legends);

- Dōsan Saitō (if they give more importance to Nō, he might be a good choice).

- Katakura Kojūrō (Date Masamune needs an ally, and he seems to be the best choice).

- Chacha (the female character the most in demand, and she is also interesting).

- Shimazu Yoshihisa (Shimazu Yoshihiro also needs an ally, or another Shimazu, as Shimazu Toyohisa).

- Sanada Nobuyuki (We really do not need an Sanada Yukimura x Ina. So add her husband).

Actually I don`t want Shogun`s addition in the game as I don`t want Emperor`s addition in DW series. What we have to do with him?
Katakura is number one choice from these characters. Second one is Nobuyuki (But I also want other Tokugawa`s generals like Torii, Ii, Sakakibara, Hosokawa...) btw I like his chibi design. Third one Yamamoto... some designs look generic (Saito, Morii, Tachibana, Katakura, Uesugi...) need more personal details.

What does the Ashikaga Shogun have to do with the Emperor? They're two different people.

I'm curious if the people saying Yoshiaki is not needed out of the bunch actually know how important he was in the conflict. He was saved by Nobunaga, fought Nobunaga, fought Matsunaga, was the mastermind/leader of the Anti-Nobunaga Coalition(including Takeda, Azai, Asakura, Miyoshi and Honganji) and could be said to be a factor in the Mori's hostile stance towards Nobunaga since they sheltered him after Nobunaga finally drove him out of Kyoto. He was also a driving force in Kenshin's decision to oppose Nobunaga as well, since Kenshin was a stout loyalist to the Ashikaga Shogunate.

Wow, that's news to me.

To be fair, there are perhaps some people who probably aren't aware that Shogun is different from emperor.

Every time I think of Yoshiaki Ashikaga I think of his comical portrayal in Kessen III. Even as such he was a dirty goon who got everyone around Nobunaga to attack him and a really difficult cockroach to get rid of.

Oh no, I don`t mean this. :( I guess it`s my big mistake, Nobunaga, Toyotomi, Tokugawa - they all were shoguns (military rulers), but it`s almost equal to chinese Emperor, caz they were actual rulers... That`s kinda what Prime-Minister do now in hereditary monarchy. Don`t make me wrong; I just mess a few thoughts in one sentence.

Of all those characters, the one that has more potential to improve several characters Story is Ashikaga Yoshiaki... Even if I hate him, I want to see better storylines that will result in his addition! And I want Matsunaga to make things even deeper!

...

WTF?! I just noticed that his weapon in the Chibi is a Shoehorn! LMFAO XD

Over 60 characters for SW4? A big NO! It ruins the game because everyone will be a clone (if they adapt the weapon switch) and many get shafted story-wise and personality-wise (take DW7 for example...).

In fact, I hope SW4 will have only a few new characters AT THE MOST. Too many playable characters ruin the game because they're not unique and diverse enough.

More importantly, they need to heavily focus on the gameplay instead of character amount or else the game will fail. The usual normal-charge system isn't gonna work anymore, it's getting old. At least try something new (like DW6 did...). Something fresh and unique.

Sorry, but I disagree with this. Samurai Warriors has always been unique with each individual character. I see no reason for Koei to add clones since their playstyle have 3 different versions, and Dynasty Warriors only having one. It's nearly impossble, unless they decided that they wanted to be REALLY lazy.

What I meant was SW does not have clones. Yet. DW kinda does, since the weapon switch system does not support unique movesets, as any weapon can be equipped by any character.

If they manage to keep the cast focused in the next SW game and not flood it with new characters, the chances of "cloning" will be smaller. With more characters it becomes harder to make everyone unique.

Not to mention they probably (and I really hope) ditch the old movesets and give everyone new ones. It's getting old to see the movesets recycled from game to game (for example in SW3 they were not changed at all, which was just LAZY).

You fail to remember that the Samurai Warriors Series is developed by a completely different team from the one that develops DW. They were always able to do good storylines with a great number of new characters, look at SW2 (a.k.a Best SW Game EVER)

Also, there's always room for NPCs...

And BTW SW3 had a little number of new characters and most of the storylines sucked either way... It's better if it sucks with more characters, don't you think so?

Just going to address these two things.

1. SW3 has clones-- see Nene and Kunoichi. No, don't argue; they are.

2. If only half of SW3's stories were good, it was still better than SW2, where only maybe three (if you're generous) were good.

I certainly hope you're being sarcastic.

SW2's stories were tedious and repetitive, more than half of them had the "raiders attacking the village" or "pirates attacking the port" filler stage, and there was no difference between the stories of people closely related to one another.

SW3 showed the characters a lot better and the stories were relatively varied except in a few cases.

But this is getting off topic.
