This morning, a pink Hello Kitty T-shirt, a white scarf with black and grey leopard print, a purple scarf with darker purple zebra print. 0,50 euros each.

Also, yesterday finally arrived the "I Refuse To Sink" tank top I won at an eBay auction about a month and a half ago. Cute and cool!
Among other things, again at eBay auctions, yesterday I won a faux fur bomber-style jacket (from the UK, it shouldn't take much to arrive) and this tank top with cute ball-jointed doll print:
Spoiler: click to toggle

I paid even less for it than how much I do for second-hand clothes (which is already a very low price) XD. Love lucky eBay auctions.

- White short-sleeved T-shirt with cool front print with rhinestones on the left side, and full back print;

- Grey tank top with lipstick mark print, from Tally Weijl;

- Army green/olive drab ribbed tank top, from Lee;

- Dark army green/dark taupe tank top with lace hems, from edc;

- Black short-sleeved T-shirt with lipstick mark print (if it wasn't clear XD, I like lipstick mark prints a lot. I have other pieces with them);

- Cute dark blue long-sleeved mandarin collar blouse in a linen-ish-looking fabric, again from Tally Weijl.
I have a problem with this one, though. While XS tops usually fit me, the very tight sleeves of this specific one don't like my burly arms <_<;.

All of them at the open-air market the day before yesterday, 0,50 euros each.

The tank top you posted looks fantastic, if you can post more of the things you bought that would be great Sera :)

As for me, I recently bought a Brand New factory sealed ROTK VII from eBay as well. It cost me 20€ with shipping, what a bargain!

Oh~, thank you for the nice words, Cao Cao!

Sometimes I take pictures of my clothing purchases to show them to one of my loved ones, the next time I do I will share them here, then =).

By the way, a sealed ROTK game at that price is a very good buy indeed.
eBay can be wonderful.

You're welcome!

Very well, good luck on your deals. Yes, eBay is wonderful, I got so many things at a low price thanks to my participation in the auctions. Not to mention that the EU zone is fantastic as well, we can order directly from everyone without worrying about thing :)

Good luck with your purchases to you too, Cao Cao!

And I absolutely agree about eBay auctions' low prices and the EU zone.
Italian customs are quite strict, which means longer timescales and that it's better to avoid trying to import various kind of articles (cosmetics, for example). Also, customs duties might be very expensive and make the final price of items not so affordable anymore.
The problem doesn't exist when it's about EU countries =).

Last thing I bought: four scarves, yesterday at the open-air market, again 0,50 euros each.
Three are chequered (black + rose red + white with silver thread, black + purple + white with silver thread, dark blue + navy + white again with silver thread. They look like new) and one is smaller and black with pirate skull print.
I'm fond of tartan and skulls, so I had to XD.

Thank you!

The same thing happens in Portugal. I avoid purchasing items from the US, because I know beforehand i'm getting import charges to pay. Of course, sometimes it's unavoidable. A quick example, I bought ROTK VIII, ROTK X and NA: Rise to Power from the same guy, and I paid almost 50€ for the lot (w/shipping). Long story short, I had to pay 20€ of import charges, almost half of the value.

From my experience, and this might only happen in my country, if you want to order things outside the EU zone, make sure you let the seller know you want that delivered in a small package. Customs don't seem to care if the package is small and if the item is used.

But what about cosmetics and other items? Are taxes high if you buy them abroad?

Nice deal, you spend 2€ total? You better post pictures if you are not busy, describing them is probably a bit confusing :XD

I had a similar experience when I bought combat boots from the US.
I won't go into details, but it wasn't easy to find a pair of combat boots that met my requirements at a good price. An US brand had exactly what I was looking for and I was so lucky to chance upon a wonderful offer which lowered the price of the boots to almost a half (on Amazon, for once), but shipping + customs duties costed more than the actual item.
I bought them anyway because the total amount was still affordable, still less than what you pay here for much less valuable footwear, and the boots were exactly what I was looking for. But the point is again that importing from non-EU countries can become very expensive.

That said, I regularly buy from non-EU countries, which is still advantageous when item price + shipping is under 22 euros. Under 22 euros, items from outside the EU must still go through customs, but the buyer doesn't have to pay any kind of customs duties.

Cosmetics and other categories pose a different problem: irrespective of their value, customs can hold them to do tests on them. They charge the buyer for that, and sometimes the items just get seized.

Indeed, I don't know how much you spend in Italy for footwear but from feedback I regularly receive, people say it's a little expensive.

I agree!

Really? Well, first of all, you are probably the first woman I know who buys cosmetics abroad. I find that a bit peculiar, why don't you buy them in your home country? Second of all, why would they test them?

DIY? Do it yourself?

Last thing I bought: A few minor value item for my Playstations, the card I regularly use on eBay was going to expire.

Yes, it's quite expensive (and the same goes for clothes), especially if you go to shoe shops. I realised that when I started visiting eBay and saw people from other countries selling boots saying "they costed 30 pounds new!" like to emphasise the "high" price.
Good thing shoe shops aren't the only way to buy footwear.

I don't buy cosmetics abroad =), I never did and think I never will (although Chinese sellers offer very nice gel nail polish at tempting prices).
I heard of people who do, though. Especially on the Internet, I read that some order from other countries for example to have cosmetics of specific brands that can't be found here, or can be found but at very expensive prices.

Customs do tests on cosmetics to see if they are in compliance with Italian regulations and laws, verify that they don't contain harmful ingredients, and so on.

Yes =), DIY = do it yourself.

For some reason my answer wasn't posted on July 21st... Well, here it goes:

Funny that you mentioned because 20/30/40£ is the regular price of footwear in Portugal. And don't think for a second it's of low quality, at the moment, our footwear industry is one of the best in the world. Is it really that expensive in Italy?

Hum, I see. I think I would never buy cosmectics abroad, mainly because I don't need them (I'm perfect au naturel :zzz: ) and it's my skin we're talking about. I did not know that, if they make you pay that service (tests and stuff) you are right, it's not advisable to buy abroad. Anyway, thank you for the information Sera! :)

About DIY... i'll better send you a PM. ^_^

Various reasons could explain the high prices here, and no doubt the introduction of the euro affected them a lot in a negative way.
Without going into details, one euro = 1936,27 Italian lire but, for some warped reason, in practice what costed 1000 lire became 1 euro ...which is double what the price should be according to the actual exchange rate.
In other words, in practice prices doubled (example: a pair of jeans that costed 20000 lire in practice became 20 euros instead of about 10 euros as it should be. 20 euros is actually double the price).

As for the information, don't mention it =)!

Ah~ DIY! I'm relieved to know the PM wasn't about anything urgent.

Last thing I bought: Technically it still isn't here, but a wonderful Hello Kitty large canvas bag on eBay auctions (its peculiarity is that the image isn't printed, but fabric woven. I already bought and received the same kind of bag but with Doraemon, the fabric woven image is amazing).

Yeah, I remember seeing that while studying Economics. Italian's lire was really depreciated when compared to the Euro. The same thing happened here, but not so drastically, with the Escudo (1€=200,482$) in 2002.

Lucky for us that the internet sales became popular!

In my previous message I forgot to mention that there was a third skull print scarf (beige background with white or cream skulls) I liked, I didn't buy it because it contained silk : /. A pity, I still don't own a beige skull print scarf.

...Speaking of skull print scarves, a grey with black skulls one is the last thing I bought, last Wednesday at the open-air market of a near town. 0,50 euros as usual.
